Thoughts on summer ball thus far?

Got to see Hazard, Martin County and Jenkins today.

What other games are scheduled this week?

About as worthless as 7 on 7 in football.

Hazard don't look to impressive . Especially with all the hype about how good they would be. Caudill didn't show to be 14 region player of the year . If the boys from Knott get to play they would make more impact & Kincaid really seem to be the star of the team.

Wonder what Pikeville and Belfry will look like tomorrow after all the transfers get there. Hearing good things from both sides.

Any news on who’s playing at JC the 10th?

I'm interested to see how Lawrence will be with the new 6'7 transfer from Tolsia. 15th region isn't full of guys over 6'3 besides JC with Rose. But Lawrence was a team who would play hard defense and run and gun on offense so it'll be interesting to see what Chandler does

D&D was streaming games at Martin County yesterday. Obviously these games mean very little, but some of my observations watching the streams:

Martin County: 2-0 with wins against Pike Central and Betsy Lane. Eli Mills hit at least six threes in the second game. MC was out and running as usual.

Boyd County: 2-0 with wins against Johnson Central and Betsy Lane. BC came out firing first game against JC and had a huge lead, no surprise but looked like one of the teams to beat early on in 16th. The 6’7 incoming 8th grader played well and transfers looked good. Had another kid outside of Spurlock that was shooting it well from deep.

Lawrence County: 2-0 with wins against Johnson Central and Pike Central. The big man transfer rolled his ankle in the first half of the first game and didn’t play after that but looked very good. Had probably 12-14 points. Rest of the team played tough defense and Harris was on fire.

Pike Central: 0-2 and one of their players went down with what appeared to be a significant injury but can’t recall his name.
JC: 0-2 but heard announcers mention they were without 3 starters playing baseball including PG and several reserves.
Betsy Lane: 0-2 but competed well in both games I watched. Thought they looked pretty good overall!

Betsy Layne played their jv in both games. Coach Howard was playing players who normally may not have played if it been the normal season. Also Allen wasn’t there since football is going on right now.

From what I could tell, most teams were playing 10-12 guys, maybe more. That’s what summer ball is all about though, the games do not matter so give everyone an opportunity.

JC was missing 3 starters in Brayden Shepherd, Mason McKenzie, and Kyle Rose as well as two of the main guys off of the bench in Kaleb Callaham and Andrew Meeks. It looked to me they only had 8 players and that included Coach Peck's son from the football team who I don't think has played basketball before for JC. But this is a great opportunity to build some depth for the upcoming season they need Andrew Collins or Cooper Blair to really contribute this year.

I could see teams like Belfry, Pikeville, and Betsy Layne being better than what people think will the scoring firepower they have.

He took the most shots on their team last year. Where would he go to get that same type of green light. Nowhere that will have the same type talented team. Im sure every school would love to have him, but 400 plus shots would be greatly reduced and that ain't happening. Boosters might want to check their sources. Plus his parents are some kind of administrators there is believe. But who knows these days.
