2025 Cincinnati Reds
#31
Reds lose the series finale in Milwaukee 8-2. Reds lose 3 of 4 to the Brewers. Yesterday, it was more of the same. Stagnant offense. Only five hits. McClain out of the starting lineup again with the hammy issue. It's early but tons of concerns for this team. 3-7 on the season. That's a 49 win pace... Plant Guy might be right about this team. I still think the pitching(if they stay healthy) keeps them around .500. If there are injuries to starting pitchers, watch out. It would get ugly at that point !!!

Reds' meager offense musters just 4 hits tonight, but that was enough against the woeful Pirates. Candelario with a three -run dinger in the first inning. Reds, at one point , had 5 runs on 1 hit. Don't know if I've ever seen that. Reds now 6-8 on the season.
#33
Other than giving up a five run lead that cost them a sweep in San Francisco, the Reds pitching has been really good. Hunter Greene, who goes again tomorrow, is turning into arguably the best starting pitcher in the majors. If the Reds could win these next two against the Pirates and get to .500, (and they are avoiding Paul Skenes in this series), I would feel a whole lot better. But the offense has got to get going if they are going to contend for the playoffs this year.

Reds won 5-2 yesterday, as Andrew Abbott went 5 solid innings, giving up just one earned run. Reds are now 7-8 on the season with Ace, Hunter Greene, on the bump today. The Bucs have as much chance of scoring runs on Hunter as I have of scoring with acrtress , Emma Watson.

5 innings is considered solid now?

Unfortunately, yes. It's a pet peeve of mine about today's baseball. Starters going just 5 or 6, relievers not available after pitching two days in a row. Pitchers are coddled today.

That was Abbott’s first start of the year after just coming off the DL, so I’m sure he was on a limited pitch count. Hunter Greene shut the Pirates out over seven innings today, allowing only two hits. His ERA through four starts is 0.98!! Reds swept to get back to .500 on the season after a terrible start.

It's nice to have one of baseball's best pitchers leading your staff. Hunter was still throwing an easy 100+ in the 7th inning. The guy's a stud.  Reds 8-8 now. Mariners up next.

Reds beat Luis Castillo and the Mariners 8-4 as newcomers Gavin Lux and Austin Hays had big nights. Lux was 4-4 and Hays had a three-run tater in a four-run 5th inning. Lodolo was not sharp at all on the mound, a rare off night for a Reds' starting pitcher. The Redlegs are now 9-8 on the season.

Yep, and 6 of 7.  The only one of the 7 we lost was the game at San Fran when we coughed up a 6-1 lead in the last four innings.

After losing 2 of 3 at home to the Mariners, the Reds bounced back to take 2 of 3 from the Orioles at Camden Yards, including a 24-2 smashing in the rubber game on Easter Sunday. Wynns and Marte comined for 11 hits and 13 rbis in the rout.

The Reds lost tonight before a throng of literally dozens of fans in Miami by a score of 6 -3 . Cincy is now 11-12 on the season.

Reds actually playing some good baseball, have got their record up to 15-13 with four straight wins, have moved into second in the Central, only a game and a half behind the Cubbies. Starting pitching has been mostly very solid, and some unexpected bats are really stepping up, like Austin Hays, Gavin Lux and Noelve Marte. If Steer and McLain, who are both south of .200 right now, get it going, this could be a really good season. Reds start a series at home against St. Louis tomorrow night.
#44
Since being shut out for I think 3 games, or at least 2. They have led the MLB in runs if I heard them right on the broadcast. Slowish start but right now they are playing good baseball.
#45
Temper your enthusiasm just a bit, big dogs. The Reds just swept , quite possibly , the worst team in baseball since the '62 Mets, who lost 120 games. This team may lose 120. That being said, Hays, Lux, and Marte have really changed the complexion of this Reds' lineup. As Van said, if McClain and Steer can get it going(btw, Steer is starting to hit much, much better), the Reds could have a formidable offensive lineup again. Remember, Stephenson is on the cusp of coming back. If the starting pitching remains strong and the bullpen doesn't give up a lot of late leads, it could be a fun smmer in the Queen City.
#46
Reds start off the series with St. Louis right with a win. They have now won 7 of their last 10.
#47
5 straight for the good guys from the Queen City. Lux stays on fire with three more hits. Marte keeps doing his thing with a RBI triple, and Trevino cracks his second homer. Outstanding defense for the Reds tonight. Bullpen was nasty(in a good way) with Ashcraft, Santillan, and Pagan.  Reds 16-13 on the season, 1 game behind the idle Cubs for first in the Central.

They are beating trash teams, lets not get excited.

Yeah, but they couldn't even do that last year. LOL

Reds played pretty poorly on the homestand. Finished it off losing two of three against the lowly Nationals. Look like they will be +/ - three games or so of .500 most all season. Not championship quality. They do a lot of dumb baseball things. On to Atlanta... Oh boy.

Here we go again, Reds win 5 in a row.  Are they starting to rock and roll?

Currently playing worst teams in MLB, they should be winning.

Cleveland is not one of the worst teams in MLB.

Big stretch of 15 games began last night with the Pirates. I would like to see them go at least 9-6 over that period. Two three-game sets with the Cubs included in those 15. Three games at home against the Cubs this weekend at GABP. Time to make some hay.

4th in their division got swept by the Reds, they are not good.
#57
This is a key stretch, even this early, because it sure looks like the only reasonable path to the playoffs for the Reds will be winning the Central. So many other good teams in the NL, a wildcard would be a stretch. Only 3 1/2 back right now, go 4-2 against the Cubs in this stretch and you start to tighten things up.

Oh, and before they got swept in Cincy, Cleveland had the fourth best record in the AL. They are solid nearly every year.

More terrible managing late in the game tonight by Francona. Why would you not pinch hit the red hot Lux and Benson for Espinal and Joe. . Terry hasn't been impressive this season. More trerrible offense by trhe Red team. What is that--- eight shutouts already. Fire that hitting coach, already!!!

As I type this, we are down 2-1 in the 6th inning this afternoon, and we’ve been shut out eight times in 50 games. Wayyyyy too many. OSH, the crazy thing is, we are just exactly .500 through 50 games…..but we have outscored our opponents by 35 runs!!! The stat guys say that means we should have 3 or 4 more wins than we do right now, which would put us right there with the Cubs at the top of the Central. Like the Houston series earlier where we scored 0, 13, then 0 again. And ten of the 13 came in one inning. Feast or famine with this bunch.

After this Pirate series, I think you might be right.   Despicable last two games against one of the worst teams in the game.   I'm  a sucker!!! Van's a sucker ! Would you like to be a sucker , too?
