Yeah, I wish he would just go ahead and tell us what is going to happen in the semis Saturday, instead of waiting til it’s over to tell us he knew what was gonna happen.  Plus, I could save quite a few dollars by not going since I’d already know.

Ok I’ll tell you north Harlan co will be a dog fight I’d take north by 5 points once again they are playing their best basketball in he post season, and tonight bell co will more then likly come out on too due to the fact of the officiating and south’s offense becomes stagnant because they can get to the free throw line, and clay co will beat pineville

Both games were physical and that played into Knox and North. Corbin did not get the corbin whistle they get all year, and HC will have to get through physical guard play. Also, I did notice the officials in both games do not put up with a whiny mouth. I feel like kids in this region are accustomed to being able to hug officials during free throws and plead their case way too often. That is not happening this week at the arena.

The only time it got touchy was when you are trying to foul late, other than that it’s a best team wins mentality from the officials. Through 6 games I have thought there was one bad call and it was in a girls game. I liked how the boys games were called, but it will HURT PINEVILLE. Clay is already putting the football pads on for tomorrow’s game.

This dude right here is the only person on the website that knows anything about high school basketball

What about me? I'm older than Joe Dirt.  Probably watched 1,000 games in 53+ years.  HCS is probably as old, or older, than me. There are some people than here that know their roundball. Granny Bear coach HS ball. I'm sure some others did, as well. Your take is a pretty arrogant one.  I agree, though, Gridiron knows his BB.

Yeah.  What about you?  You are young enough to be my son, technically.  I've coached more games that you've seen.  HCS isn't close to your age.

Now, I only listened to the games and heard about it from some folks who attended.  THEY were okay with the officiating, but I don't think I am.  In a perfect scenario, the games would be called closely to the way they were called during the season.  I don't think it's fair that touch fouls are called all year long, and you get to the tournament and have a throw down.  But that's just me.  I was also told that NL played their best game of the season.  I don't like that because they meet HC next, BUT if I was a NL fan, I would be tickled to death that they were peaking at just the right time.

I knew this would be a great tournament and sad that I can no longer attend.  LOVE high school sports!!!

Now, I'm curious if you think I'm a lot older or younger than Old School Hound. :)

My biggest takeaway: What is a Distract Tourney? What is that? Does whoever comes out in a bunch of golf polos win the Distract Tourney? Got to learn more about this.

Keep it up guys, this thread is pure gold, best thread I've read this year so far!

0-2 Scratch, South vs Bell was never really a close game and Pineville led most of the game vs clay.

Corbin hit 48% on 2 pt FG's and North hit 48%.  North shot 38% on 3's and Corbin shot 37%.
Corbin was 13-16 at the Free throw line and North was 12-15.

Maybe Valentine came up with a really good defensive game plan for the Regional game and Corbin struggled because of it, but that wouldn't fit the narrative since everyone has been badmouthing Coach Valentine the entire season and off season.  Plus Corbin was up and down all season, especially offensively.

Finally a normal reaction and assessment of this NL/Corbin game. Thanks SEKYFAN!

Don't worry about it. It doesn't take much to wad their panties. Wink

Damn!  I thought he might have a couple of years on me. I'm probably sexier, though.   Cool

Looks like both North & South are playing great at the right time. Would be a heck of a championship game between those 2.

If that bio info is right, you are only five months older. Class of 80 and Class of 81, I'd guess. I assumed there was a bigger difference than that with the earlier discussion about Harry Taylor.

Harry was my principal in my early elementary school years. He was a heck of a basketball coach in his early days. A few years back ,Tony broke Harry's record as all-time winningest Corbin BB coach.

I thought YEARS older; not months!!!

Wow HCS, guess everybody is getting older.

Yes, I've read about Harry Taylor. I thought you watched him coach, I guess.
Yeah, 60-plus now for me.

Yeah, 60-plus now for me.

I was still running sub 7 min miles when I was 55. The last few years I've slacked big time on my physical fitness. I need to be in the gym for more than just basketball games.

Yea and exactly what I said had to happen for south to win the game they had to get to the free throw line, mabe had 18 of his 22 points from the free throw line I think, that’s when south is tough to beat but if they get there less then 10 times they will struggle to break 40s
