Painstville 60 Martin County 55
#1
Do we even consider this an upset? Painstville has played martin pretty close in every game and is a top 3 team in the region. Parker watts had to have at least 25 or 30.

What a game! Was watching this live, had me on my feet the whole game. Going to be a good game tomorrow night against a pikeville.
#3
This is why they created the Super Region. Without it you would have either Johnson Central, Paintsville, or Martin County sitting at home during the region tournament and they may the 3 best teams in the region

Paintsville getting hot at a good time. Excited to see them make a run in the 15th.

What a game by the Tigers tonight. It was nip and tuck all night. Coach Slone had his kids dialed in and focused for the win. The Birds seem more worried about all those tattoos and show boating in the pregame layup line than they did winning. It looks like Sue Bob and Jesco White has opened a tattoo parlor in Kermit by the looks of some of those sleeves.

Shoutout to the Tiger pep section tonight also! Once again they were on point. Also shout out to Coach Kinner and her girls for sending Ms. Ballbreaker home with the L. Awesome night to be a Tiger!

Paintsville has some talented players, but NO ONE wins at Paintsville except for Paintsville.

Two top teams in the Region for sure. The 57th district is loaded.

Showboating in a layup line?  Because Martin co has a few kids that can put down highlight dunks that is showboating?  If Paintsville had anyone that could get up like watts can then they would be doing some circus dunks as well. Show me where one of those mean kids from MC with the tattoos hurt you!!!?. Congrats on the win Paintsville!  Stay classy Ralph because I know you don’t have the amount between your legs to say that to anyone on our sidelines.  Enjoy the win.

I’ve tried and tried to keep my mouth shut but I just can’t hold it in no longer. I keep getting told “it’s not the offense” “it’s not the offense.” Well was finally revealed tonight that it was the offense. I hear “George you an idiot.” “All you care about is one player.” Well this idiot was correct is seeing what was going on on the floor. You can’t put the ball into the hands of two players and expect to win. It may have worked before the All-A when teams was still trying to figure out what your doing but they’ve figured it out know. But still, nothing has changed. What I’m also hearing now is that the players are just being let go in practice and they think they are on top of the world. I don’t know if it’s the coaches just think they are better than everyone. I don’t know if the players think they are better than everyone. Or idk if the players have any respect for the coaches that put in their time to them because they know they won’t get punished for it. I really wanted our boys to make it to rupp this year but it’s just being trashed away. Something’s gotta give or we will be watching the sweet 16 from the stands.

Agreed, don’t know why they don’t run more plays for davis and Estep to get cleaner looks instead of trying to let people play one on one.

Paintsville lost like 8 games at home last year…

Couldn’t the same thing be said for any team? They all get home court advantage.

I heard the practice stuff too but thought it was just a rumor. Guess that rumor may have had some weight to it. I also heard coaches were trying to fight each other tonight, players walking out of the locker room while coaches are talking. I guess we finally have something to agree on, the cards have fell apart.

Well you can think what you want. If you are the true cardinal stat man then there is a reason why you are that far down the bench. A team that plays college like, getting up and down the floor, and has one of the top 5 offenses in the state being held to 55? If it ain’t the offense then tell me what it is? I guess I was right, the players are being let go in practice because the coaches can’t point out the problems.

The thing is though I hate to see it brother. We have the 15th region player of the year, a freshman point guard who can be one of the best players in his class when he’s controlled, a 2 guard who is one of the best 3 point percentage shooters in the region, a center who is quick enough to be a guard but aggressive enough to play against the biggest centers, and a power forward who is one of the best spot up shooters and one of the best defenders in the region. Along with a huge spark from the 6th man. There is no sense in that team not running away with this region. I just hope it ain’t too late to change something now.

Who is shocked?MC is not the team they were hopefully we can get it done on Friday. They have one source of offense, and only run through him teams are letting him get his 30-40 and coach James looks happy doing that and losing.

This is what I mean about the staff losing all control. No way any sane coach would be happy if one player scores all the points and still loses the ballgame. Unless the player is coaches son and that’s not the case here. There are too many good scorers on this team to not be able to take the load off of watts.

They do at the end of every season. I’ve heard there’s no discipline at all on that team. I remember a kid walking out in the middle of a game one year then played the very next game. Martin County is pretty easy to figure out.

Huge win for the tigers! I think this solidifies Slone as 15th region COTY. Sounds like the wheels have fallen off the Ferrari over in Inez. They’re an extremely talented team, hopefully they can salvage this season and put it back together for the tournaments.

No one is saying "George" when referring to you. I think it would help if dads would be dads and let coaches be coaches also. If you think that players don't see and care about the things you adults say on here and that it doesnt make an impact on team chemistry, you are lost.

Martin County does have the most potential in the region 1-6, no doubt about that. They just do not play consistently for 32 minutes. Another thing that hurt last night was some foul trouble. After Martin County's first 6 there is a bit of a drop, so the Cards having to play conservatively down the stretch because of fouls hurt.  Hopefully they figure it out in the next couple weeks, and if not, it will be a lesson learned for all involved.

I didn't think offense was a major problem either. I think it was just a much slower paced game than usual for the Cardinals, and that is the only reason for the lower score. Devan Maynard looked really good on offense I thought. Without looking at the stats, I feel like he was the Cardinals second best player last night. He is much better than he is sometimes given credit for, and want to see him keep being aggressive instead of just being a pass-back-out zone breaker.

Big time win for Paintsville. First time they played in the ALL A Championship it was very one-sided.

Paintsville had the game won over in Inez a few weeks back but faltered late, but they've bounced back in a big way since then.

How can you differ between dads being dads and coaches being coaches when the dads are the coaches and not correcting their own children

Shot 65% from 2 and 48% overall. Offense isn’t the problem.

How can you differ between dads being dads and coaches being coaches when the dads are the coaches and not correcting their own children

Some dads are also going to be coaches. Welcome to high school sports. I will agree that if you are going to help coach as a dad, you need to correct your own children. I am not sure the roles of the assistants for MC, but all the kids do need to be held to the same standard.

I am just stating that dads getting on here and constantly bashing the coaching staff, or the players doesnt help. Kids read this, kids talk about this, and this forum can feed into negativity. Remember that they are all still kids, and support them. Hold your kid responsible for what you feel like you should, and support the coaches that you know want to win as much as anyone.

Reading "George's" posts really makes me wonder if he really wants to see a 14 year old kid fail. Davis is a great 1/2 combo guard. No questions about it. Im not sure why "George" feels such a need to pump him up on here, or bring down the young freshman guard either.

Big win for Paintsville and really throws the district into some chaos. JC is 4-1 with a game at Martin, Martin is 2-2 with games at home against JC and Magoffin. Paintsville has completed their district games at 4-2. If JC beats Martin at Martin, they will be the #1 seed and Martin will move to the #3 seed. If JC loses and Martin beats Magoffin (a certainty) then you are looking at all 3 teams being 4-2 and 1-1 against each other. What is the tiebreaker?

To me you never circle the game at Paintsville and say that’s a for sure win. These 57th district games are always tough regardless who’s good and who’s not. Cards will be fine big game Friday with JC coming up a big win can change everything.

And that is exactly the problem. Not all the kids are held to the same standard. Some kids can turn the ball over and shoot bad shot and not have anything said to them but if another one does it then he gets yelled at and jumped onto. I’m all for correcting you ball players but you do it to all of them not just certain ones.

Well the young freshman guard has the potential to be one of the best point guards to ever walk through the 15th region but can’t get his outside noise away from him and ruining his talent. And it starts on the bench
