Shawn Hager Resigns as Floyd Central Coach
Hoskins is the best candidate for the job and it’s who they should hire. He’s a quality play caller and he can develop QBs. He’ll be good for Mays and if they can keep Buck at FC with Cotton, they can be pretty dangerous on the outside if Mays can develop. He’s very raw. Jags will have to basically replace their entire offensive line. That’s a HUGE issue any incoming coach needs to be aware of. Defensively, FC was bad. Might’ve had the worst defense in 2A. Now, you return a a good DL in Ethan Curry. If he’s giving effort, he’s really good. Bailey Evans stood out at times to me also for the Jags on defense. Elijah Little is a kid that could have a good year also for FC. Outside of those few, guys need to build confidence and put in the work necessary. Otherwise, there’s going to be a TON of holes and weaknesses in that defense again.

Now I wish nothing but success for the Jaguars. I like a lot of folks from down there, but Leslie County is entering our district. Knott returns the bulk of their team, Martin Co loses the bulk of their team, but they return Maynard, and Prestonsburg could have one of their best teams since early 2010s. So I’d say Floyd Central will enter the season predicted to finish last in district play and if that’s how it plays out, they’ll miss the playoffs.

Whether it’s Hoskins or someone else, they’ll have their work cut out for them. Going to need a tight knit and solid group of assistants who buy in. Most definitely need a quality group of men to coach the feeder program and the next coach likely needs to be hands on to get that up and running correctly.

Most importantly, you’ve gotta convince the basketball and baseball players that football will never be a quality product at that school until they start putting on the pads too and going through the two a days. I don’t care if Nick Saban was the coach, if you don’t have the jimmy’s and joes, you cannot win the games that matter.

Best of luck to whomever gets the job.

Got to agree with you on keeping Buck and Cotton together which they will Buck isn’t going anywhere. Hoskins will turn Mays into a weapon I think with the players you’ve said as in Curry, Evans could be very effective and I hope Little has a good year as you’ve said. I’ve heard Evans might not play and a sleep on the team I seen as Valley is Daniel Swigger I think is his name at LB. Offensively I think you see 65/35 with the run being 35 wow crazy right at FC more of a passing offense. Curry will prob get most if not all of the runs Evans might get a few. I like having Cotton and Buck and I’ve heard Mason Anderson is going to play he’s played baseball and is the center fielder  he’s very fast. You’ve got to get the Oline strong and understand how to block and the steps it takes. Like I’ve said before hopefully he brings coaches with him. Defensively shew we’re do I start at the Valley game you had all Freshman and Sophomores on the field but Colt shelton and will wells. Curry and Swigger at LB will have to step up Huge for them defensively. You’ve got the speed to cover teams. As for the district Fc blew a 18-0 lead vs Leslie. They could get by them maybe martin too. Maybe you run a 4–2-5 defense?? I believe Curry has a break out year on offensive side with him getting the carries the kid runs hard and is a monster. Good luck to the jags this season.
I dont see a world where fc beats martin maybe leslie. It all starts upfront and you also gotta have some good playmakers.
6 applicants to be interviewed today and tomorrow…hopefully we know something by Friday!

Do you know who they are by any chance
From what I've from a few sources (unless they're just flat out lying) that it'll be Hoskins.

Which is the correct decision, a lot of great young talent to work with. Give him time to develop and implement his style and culture, he will have them going in the right direction.

Since your saying that I bet they don’t and go with Scotty Johnson. This school has made some awful decisions and will continue.

It’s not Johnson I’d bet you on that.

I’m glad I just hope they do right this time and not do what they did before
Tomorrow will we see who FC new head coach shall be after months…
People in todays game think it's all on the coach to win football games.. when not given the adequate resources to be successful you could hire Nick Saban as FC's next head coach and he would still get running clocked by most teams in this area.. Until FC focuses on sports other than basketball you will continue to see the same output on the field!

They have made some puzzling decisions in regard to coaching hires since the inception of the school, but I think w/ this hire, bring in some new fresh energy, and actually bring in someone that will best benefit the kids, not who's been loyal, or knows the right people. Also think w/ this hire, you will see a trickle down to the other programs that desperately need new face/voice to lead.
If it is Hoskins, then I wish him the best of luck! I hope he is under no illusions, however, about how difficult it’s going to be for him. When he took over at Paintsville they were coming off a state championship and had alot of very passionate Paintsville football fans giving him support, at FC he’s going to get the opposite. 0-10 record, no history or tradition in football over there, and very few people on beaver that really care about the success of the program unless their kids are playing. Like I said, I wish him the best of luck and will truly be praying for his success. I would love to see that program rise up as Pburg rises back up. I think it’s very beneficial to have a true rival in your district that you can battle with and sharpen your steel against year in and year out. That would be great for both programs, but it starts from the top. If Hoskins can’t surround himself with guys on his staff who truly believe in him and are willing to support him instead of just waiting to stab him in the back to try to get a head coaching job for themselves then he’s going to fail. I’m not sure where he’s going to find those guys, but I sure hope he can!

We would have preferred to get him back down this way and did everything we could to make that happen. I don’t know anything about Floyd central football but I can tell you if Trevor takes it, it’s because he wanted to and his family wants to be there. Very well respected coach with other places he could go. I’m not saying he’s even going to do it, I don’t know. But I’m sure he knows exactly what he’s getting into no matter what he does. The team, school, and community will all be better with someone like him around.
