Do you like the idea of tariffs imposed on our biggest trading partners? Do you favor a trade war that will hike prices of some of your favorite goods? I think it's a very bad idea. Trump likes it just because he can do it and because he enjoys creating chaos.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has just announced that it will retaliate against Trump's tariffs with it's own 25% tariffs on imports of goods from the US. The first phase will go into effect on Tuesday, and will include tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods. The next phase will include tariffs on an additional $125 billion of goods. Mexico said it has plans to follow suit.
Jet, better stock up on your booze. Beer and liquor prices are going up, up, up. Granny Bear, that morning Orange juice or coffee and those fruits and vegetables for those pies and cakes, likely just got a lot pricier.
I doubt Trump's tariffs will get the blame from BGR scholars , though.
What do you think, MAGA Nuts? Do you think BGR MAGANS will blame Hillary's emails or Hunter's laptop for the skyrocketing costs of avocados?

Don't worry about me Old School. I survived 4 years of Bidenomics. I can survive any.damn.thing.

The tariffs that Trump imposed during his first term created one of the largest tax increases in decades. Some of the effects of those tariffs were felt during Biden's term as well. The soy bean business was almost destroyed by those tariffs and the large farmers were bailed out by taxpayer money in the form of subsidies.
The new tariffs will cost the average American approximately $2500 annually in higher pricing on consumer goods. The cost for American businesses is not really known at this time, but job losses are expected to be in the 100,000-150,000 range.

The bigger issue is punishing those countries that have been taking advantage of us and worse, doing nothing to stop drug smuggling and people smuggling into our country. Libtards are fine with the Biden administration opening the borders and exacerbating the fentanyl crisis that is killing 100s of thousands of Americans as well as spiking violent crime and many other social ills while spending billions of taxpayer dollars on illegal aliens. Trump is trying to stop it and libtards are against it and "angry and afraid." Dumbest and most unhappy people on Earth. I avoid them like the plague.
Still waiting for libtards to tell me what tariffs these and other countries charge on American goods. Won't happen because they are too lazy to do anything other than call names and copy and paste from far left libtard propaganda sites.
AMERICA FIRST! MAGA! Simple concepts that for some reason only trigger low-information, brainwashed libtards and make them "angry and afraid."

Apparently you don't understand how tariffs work. The tariffs that other countries charge on American goods will mostly hurt their citizens, whereas the imported items that come into the US with the US tariff on them will cost Americans more. The tariffs that say Canada imposes on US goods will cost US companies profits due to less items being sold and also the possibility that they may have to eat some of the expense as well. I wonder who will end up paying for these losses? The consumer and taxpayers obviously.

There are no sensible reasons for these taxes . Tangerine Man just wanted to create chaos for a bunch of economies. That's the only reason he needs.

Can you cite a single post in which you criticized Joe Biden or any of his cabinet members? If not, then you are being an extreme hypocrite. In the past 4 years, I cannot recall you condemning any of Joe Biden's actions.
Granted, it is often hard to tell if Biden is still breathing, but he managed to screw up on a regular basis during the few hours when he was awake.
Now, only two weeks into Trump's second term, you are falsely asserting that no BGR Trump supporters have criticized Trump. The truth is both Granny and I have criticized Trump.
Trump is not perfect, but he has accomplished more already than Biden did in the past four years and his success has demoralized the socialist wing of the Democrat Party.

Both Mexico and Canada have made concessions and Trump has agreed to a 30-day delay in the imposition of tariffs to allow time for further negotiations.
Mexico is sending 10,000 troops to the U.S. border to secure its side of the border. Canada is appointing a fentanyl Czar and declaring the drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
The alleged trade war seems to be fizzling.

This has been another thread where Trump has made the BGR liberal cabal look like fools. Both Canada and Mexico have made quick concessions in response to Trump's tariffs and Trump delayed the imposition of tariffs to allow time for further negotiations.
Isn't it great having a real president in charge of the Whitehouse again?
I really like the fact that Trump signs so many documents in public while answering questions from the media. We may never know who really signed most documents that bear Joe Biden's signature. I want to see proof that Biden actually signed thousands of pardons and executive orders.

These "concessions" are just for show. They will not slow down the drug flow in the least, but as long as his minions are buying it, it's a win for him. Again, Trump is going around trying to bully his smaller neighbors and allies because that's what he does. Is this really what Americans want? Apparently almost 50% do, which sadly says a lot about the direction our Country is going Speaking for myself though, I want and expect a lot more from the leaders of the US.

I am skeptical of tariffs myself, but if Joe Biden had not been a Walking Dead, Do-Nothing president and tried using tariffs as leverage to stem the flow of fentanyl and illegal aliens into this country, I would have been hoping that he succeeded.
How can any American citizen be opposed to saving lives lost to poisonous drugs and violent criminal aliens?. Why are you so eager to see Trump fail, regardless of his objectives? Looking at it objectively, which I realize that you can't, face it, Trump blinked. He stated that there was absolutely nothing that Canada or Mexico could do to avoid the tariffs. Was he lying? The markets started to tank and there were warnings that grocery prices and auto prices would increase, so Trump pretty much backed down and them claimed a victory. Mexico moved 10,000 troops to the border last year at Biden's request, so where is this victory?
I will give him credit for addressing the drug problem anyway as the Biden administration did very little to curb it. I don't really understand the emphasis on Canada though, only .2% of the fentanyl seized last year was at the Canadian border.

You never explain why leaving violent criminal illegal aliens alone and ignoring the fentanyl issue associated with an open border is a good thing. Instead, you give us a non-stop Trump hate fest.

In the words of failed VP and failed presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, when asked what she would have done differently, "Nothing comes to mind." In a nutshell, that answer can accurately predict the BGR liberals' position in any thread. WWJBD?

You don't understand Trump's threatening Canada with tariffs because you confuse Democrat propaganda with news and you have no need for the truth. If Trump is for it, then you are against it. Reading real news would be a waste of your time.
I have criticized Biden many times, still waiting on any of Trump's klan to do so. I guess they are scared to speak up like the Politicians and right wing pundits who make fun of him behind his back and then laugh all the way to the bank. I call things as I see them, not how Fox News or CNN see them. Trump has a few qualities that help him as President. He knows how to use a bully pulpit and is very unpredictable, which can work to keep his opponents cautious. He apparently has charisma which attracts and keeps his minions in line.

I have been very vocal in my criticism of Trump in the past, a fact that you could not possibly missed it you were not so busy with cutting and pasting liberal propaganda. I have not been very critical of Trump so far in his second term because I cannot recall any president in my lifetime who was more impactful during his first couple of weeks in office than Trump has been.
However, I did criticize Trump for speculating on the cause of the recent collision near Reagan Airport in his first public statement about the incident. Granny followed my post with a similar comment.
Nobody who believes in transparency in government could not be impressed with the level of access Trump has granted to the media. He has already answered more non-scripted questions from the media than Joe Biden did during his entire presidency.
