Reed and Arkansas Shirt
#1
Good move? Bad move? Who Cares? what says the 606'ers.
#2
Poor move by him! Hope it doesn't come back to haunt him with the BBN! Met his dad once, 1st class dude and I doubt he gave him the advice to do so!

What are you speaking about?

Despite being a North Laurel graduate, Reed is a smart kid. He HAD to know this would piss off the UK fanbase. He obviously didn't care. He was showing support for the man who helped make him a multi-millionaire. He has likely forfeited his chance to ever be the "Y" at center court of Rupp Arena. Let's put it this way, if fans would boo a nice, personable kid like Big Z who did absolutely nothing to be mad at , they would absolutely boo the hell out of the Good... I mean,  Bad Sheppard. Read the internet. Cat fans are PISSED!!!!

Didn't bother me, at all. I thought it was pretty funny.  I doubt Jeff or Stacy advised him on this course of action. Bad move if he ever wanted to be cheered at Rupp Arena in the future.

Does anyone think a young Jack Givens, or even , Richie Farmer, would have pulled a stunt like this???
#6
So what did he do?

Honestly, I not even sure that is Reed Shepherd.

Now, don't go full Plant Guy on us. No deep state culprit here.  It's Stacey's Boy... he's got it going on.

So, wearing an Arkansas t-shirt (with UK shorts on by the way) trumps his donating $1million to UK’s NIL fund? Some people are absolutely ignorant.

We've conveniently cropped out the UK shorts.
I'm sure he knew a lot of Kentucky fans wouldn't like it because everyone with two working brain cells knows BBN is the single most toxic fan base on the planet.
It's a kid supporting his coach and his team at the same time and those of us with the capacity for empathy understand.

You bet it will trump(hate that word)  the million , in the eyes of  many of the  hardcores.  Reed would be booed mercilessly if he  appeared at the next UK home game(not by me but by many of the many ignorant fans. They booed everyone within earshot of them Saturday night---the three former UK players, Coach Cal, the refs, those manning the concession stands...  They would have booed Miss Piggy . Some feel like Reed stuck a hot poker in their eyeballs before Cal and his former Cats stuck a hot poker up their ignorant asses. The booing was ridiculous and classless. Reed's little Saturday night surprise didn't bother me at all. I thought it was hilarious. The KSR guys disagreed. They were not happy with Stacey's boy. Hell, they would have booed Stacey and Stacey's mom(she's got it going on).

I mean honestly who cares? Wonder if Jeff would wear a St. Johns shirt & UK shorts if they play in the NCAA Tournament? I mean who cares. Cal was his coach, of course he is going to be Kentucky through & through, but also supporting your coach, I completely get it.

I don't know who "we've" is but that was the exact picture that I found.  And, yes, there is not a more toxic fanbase on the planet. I have no problem with what he did.  Doubt Goose Givens would have done it, though.

Show the whole picture. He had on UK shorts. Supporting his School and his coach. Nothing wrong with having loyalty to both. Both did a lot for him

I'm sure Reed's Saturday night surprise just reinforces the thought in some fans' minds that Reed was never all that loyal to UK. Some are still pissed at him for leaving after one year, especially after an Oakland debacle, where he looked he was still a North Laurel Jaguar freshman. The convicted felon and "Unforgettable," born in Corbin and raised in Manchester, is, and will always be, far more beloved by this fanbase than Stacey's boy. Again, I have no issues with the statement Reed was making. I'm just saying it was not well thought out by the youngster, if he held the adoration of UK fans in high regard. He obviously doesn't care much about what the crazies think. He had to know this would rock BBN's world.

Big deal. I posted the exact picture I found. Didn't do a damn thing to it.  If it had been a UK shirt and ARK shorts , feathers will have still been ruffled but the fallout would have been a bit less.

I think Richie was involved in a little more trouble than wearing a off the wall shirt, but he is still worshiped by most of the Commonwealth, including myself.

I still believe what I said a year ago. Reed Shepperd shouldn't have gone to NBA. He needed one more year. IMO
#22
Actually I think it's pretty cool.  Why would anyone expect him to cut ties with Cal?
#23
I love it.

Reed is just supporting his coach and his school. Cal got him to a spot to be a lottery pick. Yes I know he didn’t start him but there was promises made by cal to other families that gave him no choice but to start people. BBN fans are either extremely toxic or supportive. Should’ve never booed a man who brought so much success to a program. Yes his last few years were disappointing, but he done great things for the university and the state.

I’m sure reed could care less what anyone has to think about what he wore. I see it as supporting his school and the man that gave him a big role on last years Kentucky team.  the small town kid from London who ended up being a lottery pick Supported his state and his coach.

Like a lot of first year players, he could have used a little seasoning but he absolutely did the right thing for his financial future. Passing up that chance to be the #3 pick would have been one of the dumbest things ever. Reed did the right thing for Reed. Of course, UK fans see it through a different lens.

Nah, even though he was born in Corbin,  I don't worship him. He was Big Blue through and through, though. I can't see him ever putting on an Arkansas shirt.

I think a lot of BBN is feeling that wearing a ARK shirt is not supporting your state and school. Shorts don't matter to them. It's the shirt debacle. It has provided me a lot joy and entertainment, though.

We've was definitely in reference to your picture, Old School.
Don't even necessarily disagree with you, just saying there's some context that's missing when you leave out the shorts.
I can't stand Cal, but I won't fault the kid for sticking up for his coach.
He had to know the ramifications of putting that shirt on, but he will be back in BBN's good graces eventually (I think). [Image: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Give_fJXIAAx...name=large]

If you never liked Richie as a HS basketball player, you can't be a HS basketball fan. LOL
