I don’t think DCA was ranked as high, they’ve got a loss to Ashland while Hazard has a win over them and also hadn’t lost to anyone in the state yet.
DCA has a 6’10” kid and a 6’11” kid who caused a lot of problems defensively for Hazard. This was a game Hazard led at the half, but DCA switched defenses and Hazard just couldn’t score. They pushed Hazard’s guards 35+ feet from the basket and let their big men patrol the paint and trusted them to close out on shooters which they did well.
Hazard hadn’t scored less than 54 points or so this year and they didn’t make it out of the 20s. Hazard had a couple wars and an overtime game the night before, but to make a run any tournament you have to be ready to play. 14th has had a couple good runs in the All A recently, would love to see them break through and win one again.

That’s not bad at all considering DCA is a Prep School.

Hazard just could not score. DCA has size and defends very well. If Hazard could have gotten some shots to go down they could have had a chance. Hazard showed during the All A they belong in the top 25 with some big wins over 2 other ranked teams. If they don't win the 14th it will be a major upset and yes I know it will be no cakewalk.

Yeah, looks like a bunch of local Boyle County names on that roster.

No I will tell you that it takes an act of congress for a kid from this state to transfer. Got you in ball and chains. You can come in here from out of the country and be 8 feet tall and you’re instantly allowed to play or go where you want to. I think everyone should play but looks like to me DCA loaded up for sports. Kinda like Cordia did in Rhodes days. And yeah that’s about all I got to say.

If u look at stats from this game Hazard was 4-26 from the 3. They couldn’t buy one apparently. Hazard usually shoots better than that. They might have 1 kid hit four 3s in a game by himself. Hazard was also out rebounded again by 10. You don’t win games when u get out rebounded. If you win one that way consider it a blessing. That now gives Hazard 2 losses on the season and both are to really good teams. This loss will only help get better for district and region. If Hazard could have had Higgins for this game it would have helped as well. Hazard had battles for two games while DCA coasted in there pervious two games.
But congrats to DCA on the win.

I looked at DCA's schedule and they have to be leading the state in least points allowed per game. So give them credit for limiting Hazard. Probably the better team, but Hazard won't run into many of those if any until the Sweet 16 if they don't get upset in the 14th which is doubtful.

Ellis at corbin still not eligible. The petty adults in that whitley administration have done everything to stop him from playing. This is after they basically ran him off. Its not like they are endangering of winning anything if he plays at corbin or not.

Reed had to sit out a year after transferring from Mason Co to Montgomery Co. He was ruled ineligible by the KHSAA and a hearing officer heard the case on appeal on Nov 18 but didn’t make a decision before he was eligible regardless around Jan 25. But he’s had to miss about 65% of the season in his senior year. I feel bad for the kid, particularly when transfers are bouncing from one place to another all across the state like a pin ball machine and most are ruled eligible.

DCA relies heavily on their defense and their scores show. Only scored 44 against Hazard. Tough game but I feel Hazard came out of the tournament with a lot of good things and may have even found a couple things to work on before tournament time. A good draw in the Sweet 16 could see Hazard winning some games there. Not crowning them region champs yet of course.
