Paintsville vs. Johnson Central Fri. 1/24
#1
Renewal of the best rivalry in the state, part 1 on Friday.

No matter if one or both teams are good, bad, subpar or in the middle of the pack, this game is always highly and hotly contested, a ton of emotion.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Where is the game being played at? Hard to get a win at Paintsville if it’s there. Paintsville wins by 8+ unless Slone gets going.

Paintsville will probably pull this one out with it being at home.

I think Paintsville wins this one 85-75.

Yup

I’ll take paintsville at home as long as slone gets proper attention. If he doesn’t, this will be a close one.

The Johnson Central vs. Paintsville game might be the best rivalry in the 15th, but let’s be real—it doesn’t even come close to the 16th A-Town vs. The County games. The one thing they do have in common? The complete and utter domination of Johnson Central's in the last few games is kinda like A-Town's complete owning of The County. It's like watching a rerun of the same show, just with different actors! ?

What do you think HOOPFAN? Ready for another episode of "Who's the Boss?" ?

JC probably has the stronger perimeter players (although I really like Lauffer) and Paintsville has the better big men. If Rose can stay out of foul trouble for JC that will go a long way. Shelby Valley was killing JC on the offensive boards the other night so the biggest key will be can JC keep Cole and Woods boxed out.

I got JC in a dawg fight gonna be tough on them where it’s at paintsville but I believe slone will get going.

Final JC 87 Paintsville 80

Central’s defense is nonexistent. Looks that aspect carried over from football season. Paintsville is better at every position with the exception of Slone. If the three doesn’t fall for Central it will be a long light for them because that can’t stop anyone. Woods and Cole will get anything they want tonight.
Paintsville 84
Central 70

@-STAT- Give me a pregame review like you usually do.

Big win for the Tigers. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this game?

JC by 100

Jase Kinner lit it up tonight for the Tigers. Loved seeing my little buddy have a huge game against our crosstown rivals.

Well, Paintsville-Central may be the best rivalry in the 15th like you mentioned, and then the A-town-County game like you mentioned may be the best in the 16th, but I didn't say anything about regions, I said the entire State, and nothing compares to Paintsville-Central, especially when it's at Paintsville. The other night it was like it used to be, it was hot, loud, couldn't hear yourself think, and I loved every second. High School Basketball at it's finest.

@billymoore8123 I'm sorry I didn't get to put out a review, I just now seen your post on here, I am not on here much during the evenings/weekends.

I will say tho that it was a masterclass coaching by Landon Slone. Defensively, JC really didn't know what hit them. Paintsville came out in a 2-3, next possession they would go 2-3 then quickly switch to man, next possession would be straight man, really took Central out of a rhythm offensively. The Slone kid from JC is a good player, and has the potential to be a great player, he does a lot of his damage from the free throw line down, driving to the basket and living at the free throw line. Only thing I notice with him is his shot, just an odd, unorthodox looking release, his guide hand seems to fall down every time he shoots it, and a lot of herky-jerky movement, looks like it hurts him to shoot it, but whatever works for the kid.

Paintsville offensively just asserted their dominance down low in the first half, JC got into some foul trouble, and they went to Woods down low about 5 straight possessions with a mismatch every time, and got 5 straight baskets, Cole was getting to the basket with ease, the size was tough for JC to deal with. Second half was the Jace Kinner show, the game of his life, and he was on an absolute heater, scored 14 points in the 3rd qtr. Paintsville was up 5 at half, JC came out and hit a jumper to cut it to 3, I told my dad, this doesn't feel like a 3 point game that Paintsville should be up by 15, well it wasn't long after that Kinner went off, and it was up to 14, but Central just kept hanging around, but Paintsville just kept attacking on the offensive end, scoring a ton in the paint, Kinner cooled off some but Paintsville was still getting what they wanted around the basket.

Truly was a great gameplan and well executed as well. Big time win for Paintsville.

The atmosphere was unlike I had seen it in a long time, it was hot, loud, couldn't hear yourself think, and I loved every second of it. The way high school basketball is in the mountains.
