St. John's 79 Xavier 71 (OT)
#1
Xavier led 50-34 at one point before Pitino's squad came back. Interesting sequence to end regulation as Xavier was inbounding with 2.2 seconds left and ended up turning the ball back over when their inbounds pass went out.

St. John's controlled the overtime period, with X going scoreless for the first two-plus minutes.

St. Johns is playing really good basketball since conference play started, which doesn't surprise me one bit. Pitino still has his fastball, even tho he still has the old school coaching mentality, he has also adapted & evolved with the changes this sport has had over the years.

Even tho they aren't the same team as we've seen the last 2 years, the measuring stick in the Big East is still Connecticut, St Johns plays them in a few weeks, so that will be a tough test, as will Marquette a few days before the UCONN game. We will definitely see what the Johnnies are made of then, but this was a heck of a comeback victory over X.
