Outcoached and outplayed. Congrats to the Hornets on a great game.
#4
Cameron with a masterful coaching job. Doubled and tripled Keathley and Allen at every opportunity and made others beat you. Prestonsburg just isn’t deep enough offensively to withstand that.
#5
Tough game for the Blackcats. Congrats to Phelps. Big time win.

Watched this one on D&D and Phelps played great tonight. All around balanced scoring and great ball movement. Phelps might be the 5th or 6th best team in the region by regional tournament time.

Didn't even know Prestonsburg played last night. Don't think fatigue would've been an issue tho after the lack of effort they put forth against Martin Co the night before. Complete opposite of the double OT win against Phelps a few weeks ago. Phelps is a good team with all the potential there to be great, getting back on the right track after that 2OT loss.

As for Prestonsburg, things started out terrible for this team lose 5 in a row, then they really started finding a great rhythm and chemistry with each other, winning 5 in a row, then put up a couple of duds and lose 2 in a row. Sitting at 5-7 at the moment, but kind of like Floyd Central who are in a similar predicament, got district play coming up, don't want to get into bad habits again and lose what's left of this season. Now is the time for this team to get it figured out.

The good news is we now have like 8 home games in a row. What better time to find your identity than in the friendly confides of your own gym?

Very true, and wild to think 12 games into the season they've only had 1 home game thus far.

It has to begin with effort. If the effort doesn’t increase then the home games won’t matter. The last 2 losses come down to lack of effort. It’s fine to lose, but it’s not fine to quit like we have the last 2 games and like we did the first 5. Idk who is primarily responsible for the effort, but it has to involve Tackett, Keithley, Allen and Napier. If ALL 4 of those guys aren’t fired up about Pburg basketball then none of the others will be either and we’ll go 0-6 in district play and get humiliated in the 1st tournament game. The seniors have to decide if that’s how they want to go out or not, and they need to decide today. I still believe this team can win the 58th, but they have to want it. If they don’t want it then it doesn’t matter what we believe.
