National Hat Day
#1
Today,  January 15, 2025 is National Hat Day!

I'd like to invite you all to join Ol Kong here in celebration of this meaningful occasion.

To some a hat is a article of clothing that's worn on the head.  To others like Ol Kong here,  a hat is a way of life.  A defining element and symbol of who we are.

When I'm around the house here I almost always have a hat on.  Same when I leave the house.  There are a few occasions when I'll take my hat off, for respectful reasons.  Church,  Funeral,  standing for the Pledge and National Anthem.

A funny story,  several years ago I was fishing at New River Virginia,  with my dad and two brothers.  We were staying in some cheap,  dump of a motel! With two beds.  My two brothers split one bed and me and dad did the other.  I was on my side of the bed watching TV.  Dad was on his side snoring away! I pulled my hat over my face to try and get some sleep.  A few moments later dad stops snoring,  turns, looks at me and says,  Son are you going to sleep with that hat on? He rolls over and right back to snoring! Lol

I almost feel nude going without a hat on  Smile
Anyways,  Happy Hat Day Everyone!

Didn't know this monumental occasion was today, so happy hat day to those who celebrate.

I wear hats fairly often as well, hat world (lids now) in the mall was always my go to growing up, like every single time I went to the mall I was getting a new hat, I definitely peaked in that area in high school, I had close to 40-50 hats, unfortunately most got lost in a flood but I have quite a few good ones now.

I'm the same way Stat.  I have a large collection of hat's.  Got a bunch I'll probably never wear.  I'm kinda odd when it comes to hat's. I'll buy a hat and not wear it for years.  I can't hardly wear a hat unless it's broken in.  Once I break a hat in comfortably I'll wear pretty much that hat only.  Sometimes for years,  till it's about fall apart on my head lol! I'm all about comfort. When we're taking family photos,  Miss Kong and my Mom both will Sometimes be so embarrassed with me.  They'll be like,  You're wearing that old faded worn out thing! Don't you got a better hat you can wear?!

One of my past jobs,  vendors and others we done business with would often give us free hat's.  That was a cool thing about that job.  I'd end up with so many hat's from this job at times,  I'd give alot of them away.

I always looked forward to election year.  Local candidates would come to the house campaigning.  Got a lot of hat's like this!

Something pretty cool,  I was going through a bunch of my old stuff awhile back.  Found some of my old baseball hat's,  even a cub scout hat.

When I had manual labor jobs, strip job, reclamation, etc, I always wore a hat to shade the sun or help keep me warm.  Now, I wear an EKU hat sometimes and a WVU, Georgetown College, or a Cumberland College hat occasionally, but growing up my mom always told me that if I wore a hat all the time, it would make me go bald.  Because of this, I didn't wear a hat as much as I normally would have.  I can say I am in my 50's, and my hair is still very thick.  That could very well be coincidence.

My mom would tell me the same thing! She'd be like,  take that hat off boy and let your head get some air lol. It never effected me with hair loss either.

I was always told the same thing. Still got a head full of hair but starting to develop a pretty good bald spot in the back, but my dad was the same way around my age or a little younger, he finally decided just to go all the way home with it and has kept it completely bald for the last 20 years or so. Despite the truth/urban myth about that, I'm still gonna wear my hats!
