Jeff Davis brings his troops to Gilliam Gym tonight for the first meeting of the season between the Cards and Hounds. Let's discuss it. Who ya got and by how many?

Im feeling the hounds by 5. Not sure why. Corbin is under the radar( for good reason) and i feel those kids have something to prove. I think corbin gets them in foul trouble and mabe doesn’t get enough help in the end. It would be a signature win for a team everyone has counted out until next year.

If SL is the best of the 13th, they need a W in this one. I believe they get the W.

If I wasn't 2 hours away, I'd make the trip down to watch this one. Haven't been to a good 13th region game in a long time.

Jeff has really had Tony's number in recent years. Won something like a dozen straight at one point. Corbin broke through last season in the district championship, led by a dozen late before almost giving up the lead. Corbin couldn't hit a free throw to save their lives, late in the district title game. Also, Corbin won earlier last season and held South to 29 points but that was when Mabe was still out. Hounds better shoot the ball well if they hope to get a win tonight. Hounds seem to still be looking for an identity. They better find one fast.

Tony showed the key to beating SL is to double or triple Mabe. Good win for them

He’s a beast, but absolutely no help. You try and leave guys open against Harlan county to double maddox, or to double burnett at Bell county, you get burned. Corbin left wide open shooters all night and never got burned. That’s the difference between the teams at the top, everyone has a star and some are better than others, but the supporting staff will win this region. You stop Akins and Eli, you will get blackburn wide open. You stop burnett and Buell, you get thomas and hall wide open. You stop maddox, you get cole and naiper open. You stop mabe, well they just kick it out and try again. That’s the difference especially in March.(Yesterday, 05:26 PM)Old School Hound Wrote: Jeff has really had Tony's number in recent years. Akins controlled the game and only took 9 shots. 21 pts, 7 assists i was told. I think he was like 12 for 13 from the line. He almost had a monster jam in the fourth qtr but was fouled. South’s press did nothing to corbin. I also thought akins guarded mabe well in the second half along with good help from other guys. Corbin looked more talented than south. Blackburn, Reynolds, Farmer, and Eli also thoroughly outplayed their counterparts from South. Connor middleton didn’t have his best game but did some nice things. I was disappointed that Rawlings and Steele to a lesser degree did little to help mabe who had a bad night. corbin’s problem is they don’t always bring that same energy they did tonight. I thought Mabe would control the paint defensively like i saw against clay but that didn’t happen. I can’t imagine the ceiling for corbin if evan ellis gets eligible. Im not sure how good the 6’6” kid is.

Tony proved again what an amazing coach he is. Corbin isn’t even full speed yet with players still waiting eligibility. They just proved the district is theirs for the taking. Never count corbin out they always find a way to win even on down years.
