I met a man about 50 years ago at Lone Mountain boat dock on Norris Lake that had caught 2 mud cats. One was 91 lbs and the other was 107 lbs. Ugliest thing I ever saw and when they brought them out of the water for us to see, I could have easily fit my child in that monster's mouth!!

I'll take the 10 lb large mouth!!

I have no idea who that guy was,  but much respect to him,  catching two giant fish like that in a single trip,  he's now one of my new heroes  Wink

Those mud cats/ flat heads are my favorite catfish.  The heads on some of them thing's is as wide as a hood on a truck.  That's what they remind me of anyways!

I've caught some weighing in the 50s. Guess I'm half way to 100lbs!

I don't target bass much,  idk why,  I did when I was younger.  Biggest bass I caught was 7lbs.  That was on accident.  I was fishing a bluegill/shell cracker bed, when I caught it,  on a red worm,  with 4lb line  Big Grin I've caught several nice bass like this over the years on accident,  using a red worm as bait,  while trying to catch panfish.
I'm happy to catch those big bass while bluegill/shell cracker fishing.  But it's kinda disappointing.  Think I've got a state or world record panfish.  Get it to the bank and it's a bass lol

I caught a 17 lb hybrid at Norris one fall. We seined a bunch of chub minnows out of the creeks here, and would point fish with no sinker. Nearly got my arm broke a couple of times!!!

That's a brute of a fish Granny,  Congrats on catching it!

I've never caught a hybrid.  Paintsville Lake has got some good ones in it now.  I've seen some brutes in the spillway while trout fishing.  So those hybrids really got my attention this year.

I took my catfish gear to the spillway this past fall,  trying to catch one of those hybrids.  I looked ridiculous with that giant gear! Most people had light weight tackle,  trout fishing.  I stuck out like a sore thumb,  attracted a lot of attention lol

I was using shinners and chubs for bait.  I'd drop right infront of those hybrids,  they wasn't interested.

There's been some good hybrids caught at Paintsville Lake the past few years.  I've heard a few predictions that a state record hybrid,  might possibly come outta Paintsville Lake soon.

When I was fishing for those hybrids at the spillway this fall,  the bait I was using,  was bigger than some of the trout people were catching out there  Big Grin  Idk maybe I was using to big of bait.  I did see some hybrids chasing trout.

The chubs we always used were huge, and very very slimy!! I would lose one out of three trying to get it on my hook! With no sinker, they would roam around a whole lot and I didn't have the brake on my rod, so they would straighten out my line every now and then. I LOVE fall fishing!

A 7lb Bass is a heck of a fish,  Congrats on catching it! That's a great fish anywhere in country!

A buddy of mine,  his dad,  years back caught a 10lb bass at Dewey Lake.  He was into tournament fishing pretty heavy.

Years ago,  when Yatesville was still a young lake,  we'd catch a lot of Bass.  The Bass was so thick and heavily populated in there.  We'd be using chicken liver for bait,  on the bottom,  fishing for catfish.  And I kid you not,  we'd catch a lot of Bass like that!

On YouTube,  I like to watch Richard Gene the Fishing Machine.  He catches a lot of good Bass.  He catches a lot of good any kind of fish! I think he's from Northern Alabama.  I watched a video of him and his buddy Fishing last night.  It was pretty much one giant Bass after another they were catching.  He's probably the best all around at fishing I've seen,  catching big every type of fish.

I would rather cat a 100lbs catfish.  I used to fish a lot and was horrible at it.  I went a whole year catching just a few bluegill.   I would like to be a good fisherman.  I haven't fished in years.  I need to get back at it.

It's a fun hobby and a good way to relax.  If I got something bothering me,  I catch a fish or two,  I forget all about my troubles for a little bit, it's good therapy.

I was always so mad by the time I left the fishing hole because I hardly ever caught anything.

I'd rather eat at Long John Silver's and then go water ski lol. I do want to learn how to fish and then filet and fry them when I retire which I hope is very soon. Would love to have a big garden and raise my own veggies and catch a fish to eat and have my dinner while sipping my homemade wine and beer in my retirement while reading a book with my music in the background. Probably never happen but with a little luck...

Long John's and Captain Ds are two of my favorite places to eat.  I haven't in awhile but sometimes I'd go to Pikeville just to eat at Captain Ds.

When we clean fish we'll sometimes bury the left overs in the garden.  Makes for some good fertilizer.

There was a old man I knew,  he passed away several years ago.  He made the best,  sweetest home made wine I ever tasted.  I'd loved to have gotten his recipe.  This kinda reminds me of David Lee Murphy,  his song,  Dust on the Bottle! Lol

I would love to catch a 10lb bass. Never got close, could catch a ton of smaller ones but about 4 1/2 lbs seem to be my cutoff. Catfish when I was young was the thing, we did all the time after school and weekends. We hit pay lakes, rivers, and lakes. Never caught any huge ones but around 10-15lbs, and we were happy with those when we occasionally caught one. But if I had to pick, I like fishing for both honestly. I like reeling them in no matter what they are. I guess one time id like to reel in a heavy bass. Another favorite thing was wade fishing. We would go in the summers and hit the river and use ultra-light equipment and catching anything was a blast, we would pinch the tail off a plastic worm, make a jig sorta, leave the hook showing a little and walk right up to the debris in the water and cast. Caught many of red eyes, blue gill, bass and crappie like that. some of the best memories.

A 4 and a half lb bass is a really good fish.  I'd take that any and every day.

I'm really the same way,  I'm happy catching anything that bites.  Been thinking about fishing a lot with all this snow on the ground.  Got plenty of time to let my mind run wild at the moment lol

Wade fishing is my favorite type of fishing too.  There's a little creek around here,  off of a country road,  it used to get stocked with trout every Spring.  Just a small creek with some deep water holes in it.  I'd wade it several times each Spring.  I'd tie my stringer to one of the belt loops on my pants lol

Beautiful scenery wading that creek.  Big rock cliffs.  Stayed pretty cool there even in the summer.  You'd wade past hay fields and back in the day tobacco bottoms.

That creek isn't stocked with trout anymore.  I still wade it several times a year.  Mostly catching bait for catfish.
