15th Region Girl's top teams
#1
Who's the contenders in the 15th region this upcoming season? thoughts ?
#2
Definitely not Belfry. Our middle school girls could beat the high school. Oh wait there isn’t any high school girls that want to play.

My guess would be JC then Pikeville

Pikeville lost their whole team but they will be fine. Lawrence has a stud in Sophie Adkins. JC is well coached with some great players. I see the 15th region as a 3 headed monster. (Pikeville, Lawrence, Johnson Central) No other team has a chance IMO.

I could see Betsy Layne sneaking into a late round in the region and making an upset. The pick up of Kidd coming back is huge and takes the load off Pente. Sophie Adkins is a stud I agree.  I think the 58 district could go anyway but favorite Lawrence and BL. Fc could maybe do it but they are young I believe only 1 senior. Could be FC to win next year.

Agree with this. Could see Martin Co shocking some people, they just beat Betsy Layne 52-43. Pikeville has a strong chance to win next year, they have the Alvin and Lin duo and good size in the post with Rogers and Woods.

Id take pike and jc and give you the rest

Saw Johnson Central play against Boyd County. They are very talented and I promise you their coach cares more than your coach lol.

Coach Hicks is truly the 6th man for the JC team. I've never seen a coach be 5-10 feet out on the court as much as he is.

Might have Prestonsburg over Martin county but other than that it’s spot on.

I can agree with that. Besides Jc at 1, really the next tier of 2-4 could be put in any order.

I agree, I do believe Lawrence hosts Pikeville Jan. 2 at their place. Should be a fun watch.

Time for Belfry to make a change.

Starts at the Elementary and Middle School levels.  Kids can’t pick up a ball when they are in the 9th grade.  It’s a big group effort to have a true program.
#20
Middle school is competitive every year. They all transfer or don’t play.
#21
Well they need to let the Middle School coach do both since they have different seasons. Only caring about football probably has a lot of influence on seems I’d say.
#22
If it happens the Middle school coach may get an interview but I think they look elsewhere which is a mistake. Biggest mistake will be keeping Deskins which in all likely hood is what will happen.

If that job comes open (doubt it will) I have been told a coach in the 13th, that use to be apart of a power house program would apply for that job.

Why is it that a lot of the talent that came from the middle school has either left or refuses to play at the high school level?

Don’t think many of them head back to WV and the one that did came back for her senior year.

Just give the job to the MS Coach. See if the kids stay. Give them about 3/4 years to see how things are going. Not sure who HS coach is but there’s a problem somewhere in the overall program. Apparently the administration don’t care about the girls or they would addressed the situation.

Some of us would welcome that and I think he would get a few of the ones that transferred back.   Admin won’t let it happen.  Don’t seem to care about our girls

14. East Ridge
1. Johnson Central (13-2) wins over LC by 20, FC by 13, Phelps by 10 (didn’t use all players, Magoffin by 55
2. Pikeville (5-5) wins over BL by 7, LC by 18, Pburg by 23 (played tough schedule)
3. FC (8-4) wins over Paintsville by 23, Pburg by 6, BL by 17
3. BL (6-5) just got transfer player acclimated, playing pretty well since losing to FC by 17
3. LC (5-7) wins over BL by 19, Belfry by 28, Pburg by 20
6. Martin Co (5-4) wins over BL by 9 (before transfer), East Ridge by 37
7. Pburg (4-8) wins over Belfry by 24, East Ridge by 49 (played tough schedule)
8. Paintsville (5-7) wins over SV by 2, Pike Central by 28, Belfry by 12
9. Pike Central ((5-7) wins over Magoffin by 15, Phelps by 14
10. Phelps-(9-4) beat Magoffin by 9, beat East Ridge by 45 Shelby Valley (1-5) beat Phelps 14
11. Shelby Valley (1-5) beat Phelps 14 first game before coaching change
12. Magoffin Co (4-9) no wins against 15th opponents
13. Belfry (2-8) beat East Ridge by 9
14. East Ridge (6-5) no wins against 15th

I still agree JC region to lose by considerable margin FC, BL, and LC will shake out soon from playing each other, not enough info against 15th region for Martin county, don’t count Pburg out.  Probably Kidds toughest schedule as head coach.
