Kentucky vs. Ohio St. Sat. 12/21
#1
CBS Sports Classic from MSG in New York, tip-off set for 5:30. UNC will be playing UCLA also.

OSU comes in with a 7-4 record, and just found out the hard way how great the SEC is, Auburn just hung a 38 point thrashing on them last Saturday. Know that Bradshaw had transferred to OSU, he has only played in a few games so far this season, I would assume to do the rumors or allegations surrounding him.

Think it will do them good to have this week off after the Louisville game to prepare and practice more, and get healthier as well. That Colgate game last week was just an odd game to have in between 2 big games, but this week will benefit them more. I'm sure OSU will be ready to play, against a blue blood and playing at MSG will do that, this will be Kentucky's third neutral site game, so they're accustomed to these big time environments, but nothing like MSG.

What's everyone's thoughts on this one?

I don't know why but I have never liked Ohio State in any sport and Kentucky isn't even a rival of theirs. I hope we win by 20+ but I have no clue if we will. I haven't watched a single second of Ohio State basketball.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

So far I haven't looked much into this game.  Idk much about Ohio St this year.  It'll be another good game for the Cat's vs a quality opponent. The Cat's should get the win in this one.

I did see where Auburn blew out Ohio St.  Maybe this game will tell us a little about how we match up with Auburn.  Judging by if we blow out Ohio St to! Run that score up baby! I'm starting to sound like,  the old ball coach Steve Spurrier,  however you spell his last name lol

I'll have to go back and look,  but didn't Auburn lose to Duke? Or am I thinking about someone else? Remember we beat Duke earlier on.

I believe we win this one,  just not by a blowout.  We'll take OSUs best shot in this one,  like we do everyone else.  Game is at a neutral site,  UK fans travel very well.  We don't have to win in blowout fashion.  A win is a win,  just as long as we get the w,  that's all that matters.

I looked,  Auburn did lose to Duke

Have not seen any OSU games but I am sure they come and play one of their best games against UK. Butler is playing well and I pick cats by 10.

I think the Cats win between 9-12 points in this one. For once I feel like we will come out with a good start and hold it. In the other big games we have came out flat and had to claw back in. Would like to see them for once start hot and maintain it.

Yes, and I root for a lot of Ohio teams. The Buckeyes have never struck my fancy.  So, I agree with you. Damn them.

Early in my life, woody Hayes era, I was a OS fan, till that idiot punched a player, since then, and ANOTHER MAJOR reason, I hate OS

We really need , right now, to put together a COMPLETE GAME

Why do I think of this when someone mentions Ohio State ?   Yes, I know , it's because I'm an old fart.

He's doing  his homework... Analyzing that data.  Does that mean a big win today?

Does Cal do homework?

Nobody wants Cal back. Having said that they should have been practicing instead of seeing that woke fake black Hamilton crapola

YUCK!!!

Don't know if that's  a real word or not.  If it's not, just replace the Y with a  F, and you'll catch my drift about this one.

Cal hasn't done basketball homework since the hoop was a peach basket.  But both Cal, and Mark, see the value of kids getting to experience the best of metropolitan culture. There's more to life than being a Kentucky hillbilly, and a cerebral guy like Pope knows that well.

Well that ruined my weekend

Which Billy you referring to?   Gillespie? Donovan?

Was Clemson at Clemson a bad loss?  Is this team really that much better than Clemson or Ohio State? Really didn't look like it tonight.

No!!!  Don't let it ruin anything.  We're still the same team; and we will win again and lose again.  We had a terrible shooting night.  As my grandma used to say, "We couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a base fiddle."

Love those mountain grannys! Wish mine was still here to fix me some red eye gravy, something I probably haven’t had now in over 40 years since she’s been gone.

Anyway, my take on UK after basically all of the pre conference schedule is done is this—we’ve hired a very solid basketball coach, and we’ve got a bunch of good, not great, veteran players, meaning there are going to be some nights like this, where we just get our ass kicked. There are also going to be some nights where we play well enough to beat teams the caliber of Duke and Gonzaga. The KSR bunch was debating what they think our SEC record will be this week, and they mostly settled on 12-6. I think that’s crazy. I think 11-7 would be fantastic in this SEC, and something like 10-8 or 9-9 is actually more realistic.

My granny could flat make the best red eye gravy!!!! Hard to believe she's been gone nearly a quarter of a century.

Before tonight I was thinking 6 or 7 SEC losses but, after tonight , I think 8 or 9 is more likely. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take it on the chin in their SEC home opener. They aren't gonna be a 1or 2 seed like many have unrealistically been dreaming of. Probably in the 5-7 range. We have the ability to be a pretty good basketball team on a given night, but ,then, there are those other nights...

Pretending Hamilton was black makes you smarter?

Haha my dad said that and it's a perfect description of last night. UK 10-2 I'll take it. Going to be some big wins (Tenn, AL, Auburn?) and some bad losses (could be anyone).
Still think it's going to be a fun year.

"Sop" is also how my granny referred to  her REG .   Take those biscuits and sop it up.

Did anyone's granny ever use the term "suet" like my granny did?   Anyone know what "suet" is?

Anyone's granny ever make "chocolate gravy" like mine did?
#25
I'm not sure what "suet" is. And my granny would die and hair over before she'd make chocolate gravy!! Smile

Something she did do with us kids is make popcorn balls. She'd pop a dish pan full of popcorn, and melt 20 large marshmallows with butter and poured all that on the popcorn. Then we'd get to form the popcorn balls. Marshmallow cream had not been invented yet.

Lord Honey,  that sop,  brings back some great memories  Blush

It was all fun and enjoyable,  until it came down to the last spoon full of sop in the bowl.  Liable to have to fight over the last spoonful!  Makes me wonder how many grudges have been held over the years? Because one or more was upset because they didn't get the last little bit of sop.  I'm serious,  the stuff is that good!

Families broken apart,  lifelong friendships gone,  instantly flushed down the drain.  Surprised there hasn't been a feud amongst families,  over sop,  that would rival the Hatfield and McCoys!  Big Grin

I'm just goofing off, sop is good,  no need to let it go that far lol

A buddy of mine, his mom fixed good chocolate gravy,  that was the first time I ate it,  over at his house.

As far as the Cat's goes,  I still believe we'll be okay.  We gotta go into every game fighting.  Gotta fight like each game,  there's just enough sop/red eye gravy for one team!  Wink

We're ultimately somewhere between the #4 team in the nation and what we showed last night. I think we're a top 15-20 type team. When we're on, we can play with or even beat almost anyone. When we're off, we can be beaten by lesser opponents.

We're going to have nights where we don't shoot well and struggle. But we're really going to struggle against teams with physical guards and wings who can blow up ball screens, and wings and bigs who can jam cutters and tag rollers without fouling (i.e., anyone who can bully us out of our spots and will just push our offense out in general.

In that vein of thought, I think a team like Houston is a nightmare match-up for us in the NCAA Tournament, but at the same time, there aren't tons of teams built like them. Don't think that we match up well with Auburn, but with at least two chances (possibly three or even four) chances to play them and one of those coming in Rupp, it wouldn't shock me if we beat them, but the Tigers are the best and most complete team that I've seen this season.
#28
I'm not talking about that KY team we saw Sat. night. I'd rather talk about SOP. My granny made her sop by frying up several big slices of country ham(one of Old School's favorite foods) and using the drippings from the ham and adding coffee to it. SO. DAMN. GOOD. You might say I am one fat SOP.

You wanna make Old School happy, then just fry him up some country ham and some fried sweet taters.

I know we are getting off topic here, but this is a vital topic. So for the uninitiated (probably anyone under 45 or 50), OSH is right on the money, red eye gravy was just the grease drippings from (usually) country ham mixed with coffee (preferably that had been brewed in a percolator. Young ones, ask someone 60 or so what a percolator is). And it was known as sop because you sopped it up with your (homemade) biscuits. Two thumbs up from the surgeon general.
#30
Oh piss on the surgeon general!!! Healthcare is getting more and more like social media. Fads.... Today you musn't eat eggs or lard; tomorrow they are vitally important for digestive health. I get so tired of having my insurance company have so much influence on my health decisions!!!
