Belfry is the worst defensive team in the region. They lack basic fundamentals in boxing out and help defense. It’s obvious they don’t work on it because it hasn’t improved at all from the first game. Belfry has the individual talent but as a team they are atrocious. Coach hasn’t been very impressive at all! Belfry may have been better last year and that’s really bad. The preseason hype by D&D, set the bar to high for an unproven coach and an unmeshed group of kids

Until Belfry can guard the basketball they will struggle. If they can’t then you can’t play man to man. Paintsville was shooting layups. When the Paintsville guards got by then the post presence for Belfry had to come up to help and the big guy for Paintsville was there to clean up any misses and put back in. Belfry is not a very good half course team on offense. They need to force turnovers and get points in transition to look their best. If you go back to watch the Perry game that is why they won.

Good win for the Tigers.

Tough little stretch of schedule coming up for them as they host Floyd Central Thursday apart of the City Between The Lakes Holiday Tournament. Then take on Campbell County Friday, who made the Elite 8 of the State Tournament last season. Then on Sunday they will take on Riverside out of Greer, South Carolina, who finished runner-up in the 4A State Championship last season. So should be some great teams, and great games both at Paintsville & Johnson Central this coming weekend.

I don’t think this hype for the belfry big three is coming to life. Little and “action” jaxson haven’t lived up to the hype as dnd as been posting. The only player that has good potential is rash, he needs to get up out of pond creek.

Until the pirates learn to rebound this will be the result.
