one of the greatest mistakes of all time," according to Sir Elton John .
In an interview with Time magazine, which recently named John its 2024 "Icon of the Year," the music legend discussed his past drug use and how it influenced his current opinion on marijuana.
“I maintain that it’s addictive. It leads to other drugs. And when you’re stoned — and I’ve been stoned — you don’t think normally,” he told Time. “Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time.”

Do you agree or disagree with Elton on the dangers of legalization of weed?

He gets to choose what he puffs on to his heart's content so I don't know why he would think other people shouldn't be able to.

I support drug legalization for adults, with severe additional penalties for crimes committed while under the influence of drugs.
I oppose sin taxes on drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and prostitution (where legal). There should be no financial incentive for governments to promote unhealthy habits.

We agree but the fact that they are insisting on getting a cut is the reason they will legalize it.

I've never smoked weed. Years ago I had plenty of chances to, just never did. I've been around people when they smoked it. They mostly kept to themselves. Some though, would laugh at anything . I like cutting up and joking around. I about caused a couple of stoners to laugh themselves to death! They laughed so much, I became a little worried about them
To each their own. If someone wants to fire up a joint then, so be it. It's none of my business what anyone else does. I don't recommend operating a vehicle or any other equipment while stoned or drunken.
Years ago I worked at a grocery store. Some of the guys I worked with liked to smoke weed. Those guys would often talk about weed maybe being legalized one day. They were like could you imagine unloading the grocery truck and pallets with weed coming in. They'd talk about working and stocking the weed isle in the store.
Here's what got them the most excited. On occasion, if a product got damaged, we'd get to take it home at the time. They liked the idea of weed getting damaged, like the package accidentally getting cut into and they'd get to take it home!
I've smoked plenty of cigarettes back in the day. I still smoke a cigar on occasion, usually while fishing at night. Honestly idk if smoking weed would be a whole lot different. I guess it would probably be different. Again, as long as someone isn't driving or doing it around kids, then maybe why not.
Some of the people I know who've smoked weed, they did get into harder drugs, then some just stuck with weed. I've heard weed was safer on the lungs than cigarettes. Then I've heard the opposite.
