Martin vs. Pikeville 12/14
#1
The Cardinals make the trip to Pikeville for a very anticipated 15th Region matchup. Thoughts?

The panthers go through the cardinals by 15-20. However if the cards get hot they make this one a close one. Ian onskt will get hot this game.

The panthers are playing pretty hot right now with Keene and onkst. I think the panthers will win with a comfortable lead the whole game because Martin is pretty weak defensively
#4
Pikeville 85 Martin Co 61
Nobody in this region is gonna come close to the panthers. Martin Co also can’t play a lick of defense. They gave up 81 to a very middle of the pack PC team. They also got beat by Perry Central who had a whopping 49 points against belfry.

Gonna be a tuff one to pick.
I’d say whoever has the hot hand will win this one with little defense played. Be a good offense high scoring game both team can score very good. Can go either way in this one.

I don’t see how you can claim that Pikeville will play little defense. With 3 games played, the most points the Panthers have gave up 59 points. I looks for Pikeville to score in the 60s, while holding MC to below 60.

Pikeville 66 MC 58

If Pikeville holds MC under 60 I’ll give you a 10$

Cardinals better stay in the trees on saturday, heard the panthers were hungry and looking for red birds. Expect Keene and Onkst 20+ each. Easy win for the panthers.

Going to take Pikeville at home although Martin can win if they get hot. Pikeville could be off the charts good when they get Slone back. 15th will still be up for grabs in March with 4 or 5 teams having a shot.

Pikeville defense just held Lawrence to 51 points, when they have scored over 80 in every other game they’ve played this season. Now MC is better than Lawrence but I think Pikeville defense may surprise some people.

I also don’t think Martin County pressure will affect Pikeville at all.   Lawrence struggled to turn them over and Lawrence probably plays more pressure than cards.

Can Martin take good shots and score in half-court against Pikeville.  That’s how you beat them.  Just got to do it entire 32 minutes not in small sports.

I don’t know if I would count Martin co out completely for this game. Yes pikeville has been playing a whole lot better defensively but they have yet to play an offense as high powered as the cards. Davis, Watts, and dials have been scoring at ease. Even in the horrible loss to Perry central, they still put up 73 and had the worst shooting percentage of the year yet. Pikeville might be the favorites here but I would give Martin a little more credit than that.

Pikeville is playing the best ball in the region but Martin County will bring their A game Saturday. Defense is effort and Martin will bring their intensity to this game and they have plenty of talent. Pikeville is the better and smarter team overall and I think they get a win at home but Martin is fully capable of getting a win. I think it’ll be tightly contested either way.

Pikeville may be the better defensive team but Martin is better offensively. Don’t see pikeville rolling over this team but could happen since it’s at pikeville. If Keene and onkst are hot then I’d take pikeville but you just never know how the watts kid plays.
I think pikeville wins in overtime 74-70

Game time for this one was moved up to 1:30.

Martin co underdawgs in this game forsure, expect onkst or keene to get hot, walters down low to finish it out, dont think anyone can stop them, martin co will keep it close if they get hot but i dont see them finishing it out.

Hearing Martin may have a player moving in after this year.

Rumors are going to spread like wildfire but I’ve got pretty good sources at Martin co and nothing is confirmed yet.

Haven't watched Pikeville play yet, but I have watched Martin a few times and I think Pikeville will have a little trouble with Martin's offense. They're extremely athletic and explosive, but if Pikeville can play good defense in the 1st qtr and keep Martin from getting hot early then they will probably win. Would love to travel to Pikeville to watch this one. Could be the 2 best teams in the region.

Possibly, but not the name I was hearing this kid comes from the 16th.

Neel is not coming to Martin County. He’ll stay at Ashland and be eligible next year if not this one.

Trust me, I’ve seen the panthers play twice now, this will be no game. The panthers offense is more explosive than martin county’s. They do struggle on defense, but will have no problem outscoring the Cards.

Heard Conner Blackburn was going there later this year. Will be a huge pickup for next season.

He will be playing at A-Town soon and good guess but wrong.

Close Sources tell me that Martin county is offering a trade to Shelby Valley for Logan Johnson, they call him the Ian Onkst Stopper, they will give away Peyton Davis in the trade. This would be a huge move for the Cardinals as they will definitely need to stop Onkst on saturday.

Why in the world would they get rid of Davis. He’s one of the best defenders in the 15th. That would be stupid.

That kid is a true baller. I think his main sport is bowling though. Would like to see him on the hardwood too.

Someone said that Neel lawyer in his case is setting on Martin County Bench.   I’m sure if he loses that appeal to go to Ashland, there would be an even bigger stink about going to his council team.

Keithley to MC could make sense if he wants to play with talent.  Not sure that’s the case or if Martin will want to bring in someone to outshine Dials.

Wasn’t the Dials on a great summer team is it made up of local kids?    Usually the recruiting connections come from kids playing together.  Is any of those kids a possibility to move.   Not sure on who plays where though to help.

As far as game goes Martin has to make shots and guard.  They have to play more together to beat Pikeville.

How’s the Watts situation going currently.    He fitting in?   That could tell a lot about how their season goes.

Pikeville shoots layups on Martin county at will, and forces cardinals to a half court offensive set.   Bad shots plague the Cards and Pikeville wins 77-65 in a game that’s probably not that close but ends at ten or eleven.
