I managed to stay up for the whole thing. And I thought it was a master class in coaching by Pope. We were dead in the water at halftime, and as the announcers mentioned about a million times, Gonzaga had won 175 straight games when they had a double digit halftime lead. I don’t know how overall talented we really are, not sure how we will fare in the monster that is the SEC, but I do know we won’t be outcoached or out worked in any game.

^I couldn't agree more!! I loved the halftime adjustments...AGAIN...from Pope. Carr was simply amazing along with OO! As a matter of fact, ALL of the players had an amazing moment or three. I really liked when Pope brought Robinson out to calm him after that ball slap. That slap was totally uncalled for and he needed to sit a minute or two. I was impressed with Battle and Ike and I really like Gonzaga's coach. We beat a highly talented team!!!

I thought the commentators were biased. I know.....it doesn't matter. But it really pisses me off.

I discovered something about myself that is rather lame. I really loved watching that game and knowing the results beforehand. How lame is that!!!

I think this is the best game to date that UK has played. It was interesting to see how, and if, they battled back from being so far behind in score. I'm happy to see the grit and fight that we have!!

We may make it past the first round in the NCAA tournament this year.

I managed to stay up for the whole thing.  And I thought it was a master class in coaching by Pope. We were dead in the water at halftime, and as the announcers mentioned about a million times, Gonzaga had won 175 straight games when they had a double digit halftime lead. I don’t know how overall talented we really are, not sure how we will fare in the monster that is the SEC, but I do know we won’t be outcoached or out worked in any game.

Pope has outcoached Duke's Scheyer and Gonzaga's Few in two  remarkable second halves. Give him a halftime break to digest his data and Pope will dissect your team like he did that grasshopper at Columbia Medical School.

Have you ever heard him talking to Leach on his radio show?  Mark spouts off these analytics in rapid fire succession, using abbreviations that Leach has had to ask what they stand for. He seems to know his basketball.

I do not care what anyone says if Cal was still coach, we never get to OT because he would have played man the who game and we would have lost by 10 or more and he would say the loss was on him! What a game and it is so great win or lose to see a coach who continues to encourage the players no matter the score and coaches instead of screaming at the refs! Good job Coach Pope and the Kentucky team! We were without Butler for the game and without Kriisa for the last 8 minutes and OT. A big win for these guys I believe will pay dividends later in the season.

I know I said this about the Duke game to,  but once we fought back from that huge deficit and got to within two or so scores of tying the game,  I was happy.  Happy with the grind,  effort,  fight,  and heart our guys,  players and coaching staff showed.  Getting the win was a added bonus. 

Playing at Clemson and Seattle last night,  the Cat's have literally been coast to coast this week! 

I agree,  we will definitely take some more hits this season.  Whoever beats us will dang sure earn it.  Because we won't be out coached.  Plus you'd have to look long and far and still not find a bunch with more heart and grit,  than our guys have.

I agree that we probably lose that game under Cal .Not that we couldn't have come back and won, but as a previous poster said, Cal would have stayed man instead of switching to the 1-3-1 that Pope befuddled Gonzaga with. I'm inclined to agree with Pitino. Pope is going to be a very successful coach. He's a chess player and he has already checkmated Scheyer and Few. Not too bad. 
Cal had gotten lazy the last few years. I love Cal, and he deserves all the accolades that can be bestowed upon him. Almost 900 wins and all the Final Fours is simply staggering. But the recent Cal didn't work as hard as the early Cal, and some of Cal's assistants were lazy and were more interested in picking up a paycheck instead of picking up wins. Pope also has good assistants. Mark Fox is top tier. Gave Pope his first big break in basketball coaching. Cats essentially have two top-notch head coaches on the sidelines in Pope and Fox.

I love Cal, but he finally realized what most knew- that it was time for a separation. Thank you, Coach Cal and thank you, Arkansas. Thank you also to the Baylor coach's wife who said NO to Lexington. I'm so glad he's not here. Not crazy about him. Also, a big thanks to the Hurley tool from up at UCONN.  Good coach but I don't think he would have been an ideal fit. I think we got the right guy. Yes, there are gonna be bad stretches and 20% of the fanbase are gonna be calling for his head , and probably threatening to defecate in his yard, at some point, but Pope seems to have all the right stuff.

Growing up I played on some sports teams that was really bad.  We couldn't come close to winning a game no matter what we done.  If the other team forfeited the game,  we'd still find a way to take the loss! That's how bad it was at times. 
On the basketball court,  we'd be getting destroyed.  I'd be on the bench laughing and cracking jokes, talking about fishing. Some on the team found it soothing and entertaining.  Other's questioned how I could be in such a good mood,  while we were getting picked apart lol

While on the court,  during a foul or something,  I'd be joking with the guys on the other team.  Which I played baseball with several of them.  Some of my team mates would be like,  don't talk to the other team lol

Guess I was able to have fun during some,  not so fun moments.  I won several sportsmanship awards growing up.  Which now I guess it's understandable why,  based on what I said above       

When people hear my real name mentioned,  they usually smile or laugh.  That tells me I'm doing my job, mission accomplished!

I can absolutely see you winning sportsmanship awards.   Do you think Old School won sportsmanship awards?  Let's put it this way. I pitched in Little League and Senior League.  One year my sister was on the opposing team. When she came up to face me, I said there's no way she's hitting a ball off of me. She crowded the plate. I knocked her ass off the dish with a high hard one. I played for keeps. Btw, she struck out , banged her bat on the ground and hurled a profanity my way(something she did , quite often as a 10 and 11 y.o.)  Yes, we were both very competitive and not very sportsmanlike that day. Mom and dad had to be SO proud that day.

Late to the party on this one. Had to decide to watch and I did. Then had to decide if I was going to watch the second half and I am glad I did. In the Duke and Gonzaga game I think it is clear that we have a coach who can adjust and win the big games. Clemson just took it to us and I feel it was more player than coach in that one. Without Butler and then with Kerr going down, it is even more impressive. My biggest thing is, I wish they wouldn't wait for the second half to make that run. Kills my heart lol. This team is going to take some L's and that is ok, but I like their fight and effort every game.

Was really dreading the 10pm start, then once it got started, thought we were seeing the same team in the first half against Clemson. Gonzaga was doing whatever they wanted offensively, Kentucky was slow on switches, defending pick & roll, no active hands, of course offensively was reminiscent of Clemson, couldn't buy a basket in that first half, and giving up 50 points? I knew it would be an uphill climb to even make it competitive.

Guess what? halftime adjustments! I've been around the game of basketball all my life, the game has evolved and changed so much, but one thing that hasn't, you're losing or getting your asses smacked at half, you have to make changes as a coach to ensure it doesn't continue, and boy does it feel great to have a coach who will do that. Defensively Gonzaga was shredding them in pick & roll, then just beating & banging down low, going zone specifically 1-3-1, then switching man-to-man, really caused fits for Gonzaga, also Nembhard was having his way in the 1st half, especially in P&R, putting Oweh on him in the 2nd half for spurts really rattled him, think he only had 1 assist in the 2nd/OT.

I was worried, and even questioned the toughness of Kentucky after the Clemson game, they just did not show up for that game, outworked, outplayed and outcoached in every facet of the game, and even halftime of this game I was worried that the toughness wouldn't be there, but I'm real glad to say I was wrong. I wondered when the season started, how this team would handle adversity, and if they would be able to overcome it. This game showed that they are more than ready, and more than prepared for the big moments. Being down your primary ball handler in Butler, then Kerr going down on a freak play, always heard those Jones fractures which he has is a tough one to recover from.

One glaring hole we've seen so far this season is it just seems like we haven't had that go-to guy to get a bucket or make a big play in clutch time, well this game we got 2 guys that stepped up. Gotta give it to Andrew Carr, he really came up huge in the initial comeback, made some tough shots in the paint & high post, played great defense and had some key rebounds as well. We've kindly all been waiting on Robinson to have a breakout game, we know what he can do as a scorer, but he broke out as the primary ball handler and he done great. Not only creating for himself, but creating opportunities for others, that skip pass to Oweh in the opposite corner, driving baseline for the dunk was a huge play, really seemed to raise Robinson's confidence.

Just an overall gutsy, gritty comeback and a hard fought win. Great response back from the Clemson loss, basically on the road in Seattle and defeat a great Gonzaga team. This one had the feels of an elite-8 type game/atmosphere, sure wouldn't mind seeing that one again in late march.

Growing up I played on some sports teams that was really bad.  We couldn't come close to winning a game no matter what we done.  If the other team forfeited the game,  we'd still find a way to take the loss! That's how bad it was at times. 
On the basketball court,  we'd be getting destroyed.  I'd be on the bench laughing and cracking jokes, talking about fishing. Some on the team found it soothing and entertaining.  Other's questioned how I could be in such a good mood,  while we were getting picked apart lol

While on the court,  during a foul or something,  I'd be joking with the guys on the other team.  Which I played baseball with several of them.  Some of my team mates would be like,  don't talk to the other team lol

Guess I was able to have fun during some,  not so fun moments.  I won several sportsmanship awards growing up.  Which now I guess it's understandable why,  based on what I said above       

When people hear my real name mentioned,  they usually smile or laugh.  That tells me I'm doing my job, mission accomplished!

I can absolutely see you winning sportsmanship awards.   Do you think Old School won sportsmanship awards?  Let's put it this way. I pitched in Little League and Senior League.  One year my sister was on the opposing team. When she came up to face me, I said there's no way she's hitting a ball off of me. She crowded the plate. I knocked her ass off the dish with a high hard one. I played for keeps. Btw, she struck out , banged her bat on the ground and hurled a profanity my way(something she did , quite often as a 10 and 11 y.o.)  Yes, we were both very competitive and not very sportsmanlike that day. Mom and dad had to be SO proud that day.

Back to that day I K'd  my sister with some high cheese...  Several in the crowd knew we were brother and sister and a couple were saying, "Let her hit it. She's your little sister. In my mind, I flipped them the proverbial bird and set out to retire her ass.  About a year or so before that day, my sister got mad and threw a rock at me at the ball field and busted my head open. Most I've ever bled in my life. I never forgot that. That little gal wasn't getting a hit off me.  She kinda  got the last laugh , though. Best I remember, her team won the game. There was no shaking her damn hand after the game, either. I was Old School even back then.

Wildcats sure surprised me Saturday night what a heck of a comeback win! Thought we was gonna get ran out the gym at halftime but we made adjustment and made one of the biggest comebacks in UK history.

^I couldn't agree more!! I loved the halftime adjustments...AGAIN...from Pope. Carr was simply amazing along with OO! As a matter of fact, ALL of the players had an amazing moment or three. I really liked when Pope brought Robinson out to calm him after that ball slap. That slap was totally uncalled for and he needed to sit a minute or two. I was impressed with Battle and Ike and I really like Gonzaga's coach. We beat a highly talented team!!!

I thought the commentators were biased. I know.....it doesn't matter. But it really pisses me off.

I discovered something about myself that is rather lame. I really loved watching that game and knowing the results beforehand. How lame is that!!!

I think this is the best game to date that UK has played. It was interesting to see how, and if, they battled back from being so far behind in score. I'm happy to see the grit and fight that we have!!

We may make it past the first round in the NCAA tournament this year.

Carr earned his NIL money this weekend. Haven't got to see every game we've played in, but think that this was his breakout game (Duke included). Nice to see him bounce back after a rough outing against Clemson.

I'd take five Khalif Battle's on my team any day. A player with those types of measurables and athleticism who puts in that kind of effort on defense that still shoots over 85% at the line and 35% from three for his career should have a place on an NBA roster. Not saying he'll be a star, but playoff teams have roles for those types of players on their bench.

Starting to wonder how Brea is going to fit in. There'll be nights, but we knew he'd struggle defensively coming in. Starting to wonder what the adjustment is going to be because it seems like less of a shooting slump and more of the book being out on him right now. Looks like he's at least trying to put forth more effort defensively, but at this point in his career, it's not as though he's ever going to be a plus-defender. Will be interesting to see how he fits in a shortened rotation, especially if Robinson is getting way more minutes at the point (which looks like it's going to happen) or Butler has to sit. Suspect that, if anything, we
may see Oweh shift to the point (or two guard-type looks if the defense tries to put a lot of pressure on the ball-handlers) and Brea finds his way back to the three, but something has to give because I don't know that you can play a line-up of Robinson, Oweh, Brea, Carr, and Williams unless you are just banking on outscoring the other team.
