Harlan County 87 Perry County Central 47
#1
Final from OBI. Larry Gritton Classic.
#2
I know Harlan County is good but is Perry this bad to have lost by 40 or did they just play this bad. I figured HC would win but did not see a 40 point margin.
#3
The frightening thing last night was trying to make sure my family got home safely. There IS NO safe roads from OBI to Harlan Co. They had to go all the way to London, then back to Harlan. My nerves were shot!!

Statement win by Harlan early. Perry has got to be down this year to lose by this margin
#5
Perry Central is allergic to Harlan County to start the season.
It's just a known fact at this point.
#6
Wow, I know Harlan is one of the favorites to repeat in the 13th, losing a lot w/ Noah gone but still returned Huff and majority of the state runner up team from last season, but did not expect a 40 pt win. This has to be a combination of Harlan being very good, and Perry being very down, which is hardly ever the case.

Perry didn't shoot well or rebound, but they do start three seniors and have a lot of experience. I expect them to still be in the top five in the 14th. HC shot really well for an opening game.

Was all homegrown boys last year and Perry won’t the region so your statement is invalid.  But I agree I thought it would be closer, Harlan did lose Noah, A D1 player and Perry only lost 2 seniors that played significant minutes.  So I am shocked by the final

To my knowledge he’s always lived in Perry, he went to Knott for a while but he’s still a homegrown kid.

So he was a transplant from knott central?

Harlan county is a good team but nothing special. You lost arguably best player in the state with Noah, but yet they’re still contenders? No shot. They’ll be what they are, GOOD but not great 13th region team. Huff will shoot 25 3’s a game and people will act like he’s the best thing since sliced bread. South, Corbin, Clay are your 3 best 13th region teams.

I agree to some point of this, but he is a pretty good player, BUT he's super flashy and loves the camera. BUT no one can take away what they accomplished last season. They were really good at the style game they played. Which was very loose and fast. They have played it they way since the new coach and made it work. Him and Noah took twice the shots each of anybody on the team. Now the 30pt teammate is gone. Who will fill that slot this year. No one else even averaged double digits last year. I do think the current coach is the best one they have had and I also believe in the end they will be in the hunt. I respect Huff as a shooter but i cant like the attention seeking of his game. Old school disability i have and it doesn't matter what i think college coach's liked something and the local media cant get enough of him. And congrats to him on his accomplishments! In speaking about my tigers I AM JUST not impressed yet. Watched them at South the other day and several players did not seem interested in even being there. I don't think the two Clay players the local media ranked in the top 15 are in anyway better than Grubb. He brings it every game and his potential is way higher than the two seniors now. Time will tell who gets there. ONE THING I AM CERTAIN OF IS I AM GLAD THE SEASON IS HERE!!!!!!

Wow! Complete domination by Harlan county, would love to see the Phelps Hornets get a crack at them if they could make it.

Harlan County beats a defending region champ by 40 and old heads wanna complain about their best player having a good time while he kicks ass. Laughable

Probably one of Huff’s boys that wrote this lol “old head” is a classic thing to call someone When you know you’re in the wrong. Face it kid, you’re out of touch with reality. Richie would destroy this Harlan team, with or without Trent Noah. Ohhh well, guess I’ll just have to settle watching Roark take Huff and company to school.

Harlan looked promising. Definitely a statement made early. Didn’t expect it to be this bad with the experience Perry brought back.

Richie can probably still shoot, but he's in his mid 50s now, so I don't know if those guys could beat them now :)
Huff was an all-stater as a junior in both the Herald and CJ teams and helped lead a 13th Region team to the state finals for the first time since Richie and the boys did it in 88. Plus, he's a tremendous kid. He deserves a lot more respect than that. Not sure how you think you know anything about him, and that's from an "old head" who goes back a long way in 13th Region basketball, plus one who had Huff in class every day last year. He never talked about himself and basketball unless I brought it up. I don't think I could be that modest if I was that good.

You’re confused and so are many others. Because I dislike how the kid plays you’re mistaking it as a shot at his character. I don’t know the kid and I’m not judging his character. Simply stating he jacks up a million threes a game. But aye, that’s the game we play today ain’t it. Like I said, can’t wait to see Roark get his get back. GO CLAY!
