Betsy Layne 91 Johnson Central 85

Final from BL. Pente and Parsons were on fire in this one. Also, keep an eye on the 8th grader Mitchell for the Bobcats this season, he was not phased by the moment in the slightest. For JC, Slone did his thing, I don’t know his stat line but probably had 20 in the 2nd half alone.

All I can say is wow. Shock me that Betsy Layne won might be a good season for them above .500. Congrats to the bobcats.

Back to back games where I’ve seen JC struggle. Yes I know George Washington was unreal in the zip zone but JC should have played them a little closer than what they did. Tonight should have been a JC win. They gave up over 90 points to a Betsy Layne team. This ain’t good considering Martin Co is averaging 90 points a game right now. Alone also looked like he was really struggling at times. Hopefully Tommy can figure out what’s going on by January and February before it’s too late.

I told everyone the bobcats were legit earlier today before they played! This groups ceiling is a 15th title game appearance and maybe even a win. Will have some juggernauts to get through first.

Surprised with this one? Pente and Parsons are a dynamic backcourt. I just caught a little bit of this one, but did Collins get to play for JC? If so, How’d he do?

Believe in Mike, don’t doubt the mastermind, proud of our boys tonight

Impressive win for BL. Thought they dominated the game from the opening tip.

Bobcats looked great. Pente may be best defender in 15th. Allen makes a tough pressure combo. Parsons looks like he it still improving. Hall flat out played the best floor game I've ever seen him play. Tons of assists. Lance was steady underneath-just wht they need. Mitchell and Slone are young, but ready. Betsy Layne will have to shoot well, rebound, and stay out of foul trouble against the best in the region- and they got it done against one of the favorites last night. It's early, but they look like contenders. Can't wait until Friday vs. Lawrence. 58th championship could/should be these two.

Really impressive game from Betsy Layne from start to finish. They started with a 7-0 run to open the game and never really looked back. That back court combo of Pente and Parsons is hard to beat especially once you are behind. JC was trying to trap and full court press the entire 2nd half to get more possessions but that just left wide open Bobcats. Betsy Layne shot the lights out from 3. Ton of credit to them.

JC will be fine. It looked to me like they didn't have their legs fully under them yet. Austin Slone ended up with 23 but he missed several shots at the rim. As a team they looked gassed with lots of missed free throws and layups. Betsy Layne killed them on transition even on JC makes. JC couldn't get back on defense quick enough and that lead to a lot of easy baskets.

I am looking forward to JC vs Shelby Valley next Wednesday. Our team will have another week of practice and conditioning to get their legs underneath them. Just glad basketball season is back. It's a great time of the year.

Great W for BL.

Magoffin isn't even close to what they were last season, but pretty impressive start for Betsy Layne to take down half of the 57th District in a span of 24 hrs.

I think BL playing Magoffin right before JC helped them tonight. That first game for any team there are always some nerves getting back on the court. You could tell JC was a little nervous and started pretty slow. While Betsy Layne had gotten all the nerves out the night before. They played loose, confident, and attacked from the opening tap. Any time that I have been in coaching I have hated to play my first game against a team that has already got their first game out of the way.

Well boys I was on the Phelps train but these Bobcats look legit. Carter Parsons and Cameron Pente are the dynamic duo of this region. Jim Hicks just needs to take over both teams at JC at this point. He was a great coach at Shelby Valley and had some of the best teams the region had in the 2010s

good game from the bobcats last night. jc absolutely played no defense whatsoever. if they play at minimum one quarter of defense they win that game. left shooters wide open knowing they can shoot. Tommy was screaming at his kids to shade the shooters and they just wouldn’t.

Bobcats with the great win. One thing that almost made them lose the game though is the bobcats had the wrong players number in the book.

I am impressed with Betsy Layne. I think they had a lot of unknowns with being young. But they answered that tonight. I'm sure they will have games where they don't shoot it as well. But their defensive pressure and intensity is tough to go against for an entire game. And even if they are not shooting it well their defense can keep them in games. Johnson Central will be fine to it's early and they are a young team as well. I think the region has several good teams this year that will be competitive with each other. It is going to be a fun year. Good luck to both of these teams on the rest of their seasons.
