To Clear everything up. Trevor Hoskins had a job at the school last season but this past season they had no room for him at the school and he didn’t have a job so therefore he was not getting paid to coach or anything. He needed to go somewhere that offered him money.

This is what I heard as well. And he was subbing this school year.

2. Daniel Pugh- OC for Chirico a few years including 2020 state title. Paintsville grad and knows the landscape. He’s been out of coaching for a few years and probably doesn’t have time to do it.
3.  Brian Melvin, in the school system and Paintsville grad. DC for Chirico for several years.  This allows for an assistant to get a teaching position with Hoskins leaving.
4. Jordan Ray- current OC at GRC for, you guessed it , Chirico.

Other: Not many credible options remain. Hoskins leaving does open a teaching position.

This position is still a good job to have. New playing surface, adequate fan support, and tradition. Plus, in Class A there’s at the most 3 other schools that can win a title any given year.

In a dream world Chirico returns and all of the above are on the staff- and yes I know, that is not realistic.

That very well may be true, but he didn’t leave Paintsville because he wanted to. He really didn’t have a choice due to his day job.

Joe is probably deciding if GRC is his last coaching position of his career. He could leave GRC but a move out of central KY is unlikely.

Yea Joe wouldn’t be coming back. Moving to the Winchester area was better for his job plus he was able to coach at a much larger school.

I agree, and I don’t want to speak for Belichick, but Brad took a lot of criticism this year. He potentially might want a change of scenery. Good position or not, it can be hell on Earth to work at a place you aren’t appreciated.

Hoskins probably is undervalued as a play caller due to his win/ loss record. It is what it is. However, he would be an excellent OC, at the high school level. Maybe, Pikeville would be a good landing spot for him if he’s willing to not be a HC.

Not familiar with Pikeville but I know at Belfry Haywood calls the plays. Does Mcnamee not call the plays for them? I know some schools have an “offensive coordinator” but they are not responsible for play calling. Pretty sure Boyle County is like this too. Haddix may have an OC but he still calls the plays.

Pikeville has nothing to do with the Paintsville job except for being a district opponent. In all seriousness, Paintsville either needs a big name or patience with whomever they hire to build the youth program as well as try to improve their current team. Their jr high has not been great in recent years and unless you are getting transfers which Paintsville isn’t, they will struggle unless their younger teams are made a focus. Gotta have a coach who can generate excitement amongst the high school kids to get the best athletes out to play at a small school and have a great youth program.

I saw someone say that they may hire Brian Melvin to try and keep Johnson There but I heard from a very reliable source that Alex Johnson Plans on moving anytime soon. So they may not take that into account when making the hire now.
