Boyle County Fans
#1
I think you know what a premium I put on exhibiting class and sportsmanship. The least couple of days, I have been thinking about the Boyle faithful on here. I don't know all the Boyle fans on here but I am aware of Jack Lambert,  Reb , Know1 , Hatz, and several others that I can't recall off the top of my head. I have been so impressed with the class showed by these people. They had, imo, the best team in the state this season, BY FAR. They went to Cleveland and demolished a nationally ranked team. How impressive was that!!!! It was a foregone conclusion , in my mind, that they would plow  through the playoffs, encountering very little resistance , on their way to their fifth straight title.

However, it was one of those nights last Friday night, a freak upset by an inferior team. Boyle would win by 35+ if they played a rematch. It was Appy State -Michigan all over again. Boyle came up just a yard short, on a questionable call at the goal line. How much tougher, and more disheartening, can it get than that for fans of the far superior team?   And yet, they didn't rant and rave, make excuses, call for firings,  or excoriate referees. They took the loss the same way they absorb their many wins--- with class and grace.  I don't know anything about the fanbase, at-large, but the Boyle fans on here are SIMPLY THE BEST !!!  Take a bow, folks.

2024 was the year I became a Boyle County fan, and the folks on here was a big reason why. Your wonderful team was, AND IS , the best KY team in 2024, you know it, and I know it.   This is my long distance dedication to all of you classy and honorable Rebel fans on here and your terrific football team.

I thought the touch back at the end of the game was a bad call. But it was Boyle's inability to stop CC that let that one play have that much say in the outcome of the game. CC was 5/5 on 4th down. Boyle stops any one of those 5 and they probably win. I can promise you nobody around the Danville area is feeling sorry for Boyle. I have seen several people expressing how happy they are that Boyle lost. I get it too. There are a LOT of people in the surrounding counties that are thrilled. This run had to stop at some point. 4 in a row is an incredible accomplishment so it's tough to get too upset. I hate it for the Sr's but those Sr's also have 3 rings. Boyle has made it look easy the last several years to the point that I think people forget just how hard it is to win one, much less several. We've been blessed, and I think several of us realize just how much.

Very nice words OSH. Thank You.

I hope a good portion of Boyle's terrific fanbase will send some good thoughts out into the Universe for the Corbin Redhounds this weekend. Boyle and Corbin have quite the connection through Coach Haddix. He has an incredible base of support from his friends in Corbin. And he has a lot of them. His friends from Corbin have driven to many of Boyle's games to root on the Rebs, with some even joining the players and coaches on Boyle's sideline. I know I have rooted for the Rebs all season long. So disappointed that we didn't get to see another potential Corbin-Boyle classic.  I hope many of the Rebs' faithful will root for the Redhounds this Friday.  42 years leaves one feeling like it may never happen again in my lifetime. I just want one more before I leave this planet. I know the Redhound faithful would love to have the Rebs' faithful pulling for them to break this long, long drought.

Very classy and thoughtful post. It's much appreciated. The loss was tough, for sure, but there's no point in beating yourself up about it or trying to diminish the accomplishment of the team that beat you. Besides, with so much success over the past 25 years or so, that would make the fans look like spoiled brats.

Honestly, of the 4 teams left, I probably am rooting for Corbin. A lot of that has to do with you and many of the other passionate Corbin fans. It's also because I've never liked PT and usually root against the private schools. I'm indifferent to Franklin Co, so they are probably 2nd choice for me. There's no doubt it will be an exciting last two rounds in 4A.

Thanks, Jet. I love you. The meds have been prescribed and picked up. The medical team is on call late Friday night if I need them. I'm hoping a meltdown isn't necessary.  I've been very sick the last couple of days. Hope I feel better by game time.

Old school if I had a Corbin shirt I would wear it tomorrow to support the Red Hounds, Corbin is my pick to win the 4A State Championship this year, Go Hounds!!!

Thankyou, Jack. This year made made Boyle fan. It was so cool seeing one of our own go to northern Ohio and lay waste to a Buckeye power. We just don't see that very often. I know you and I were concerned that maybe Boyle shouldn't scheduled that opponent. We were wrong. Haddix' boys laid a whippin' on them.  If I could get you a Redhound shirt in time for the game tomorrow, I would drive it over to you. Unfortunately, I am down with some kind of virus or infection and will probably be hanging around here tomorrow. But, I know our boys appreciate the support of Boyle fans like yourself, know1, BEChargers, Hatz, and others. Our teams really do have a connection through Haddix and our fans who support him and Boyle County. I could literally name a dozen Corbin people off the top of my head who have attended Boyle football games to root on Haddix and the Rebels. And there's many more that follow the Rebels from here and root for them.

We also love Corbin-Boyle football games when they happen(although they usually don't go our way) because they are simply the best, most skillfully played and exciting affairs, among some of the best talent in the state. That game over there last year was so special because it pitted the two best teams in the entire state on the field at the same time. How often do we get see that here in our little neck of the woods? The eyes of the whole state were focused on that game, for the very reason that everyone knew these were the state's best playing for a state title on that night. Still gives me chills!!!

Thanks , you guys. I've got butterflies in my stomach, on top of whatever else I have ailing me. They tested me for Covid, the flu, and strep, and all were negative but I'm not feeling much better, even after a steroid shot and antibiotic. I just about ready to do like my papaw did when he was sick and pull out the Old Grandad Kentucky Straight Bourbon and make me some "Hot Totties."

M head says it's gonna be tough to go in there and get a win. MY heart says the Red team will find a way. 42 years of heartbreak will leave a guy wondering if it will ever happen again.
