He must have forgotten how to make those adjustments at PCC. Chandler has made those adjustments. Let's see if they are executed. Raceland better be ready.

After reviewing their previous meeting I want to change my score prediction to Raceland 28, Hazard 14. I think this game will be much closer this time around.
Last time these two played Hazard lost two fumbles inside their own 30, gift wrapping Raceland 14 points. They then made a horrible decision to go for it on 4th and 4 from their own 40, which resulted in another short field and TD. That stuff won’t happen again I’m betting.
Raceland had 42 points but only 300 yards of offense. By comparison, Hazard only had 8 points on 142 yards of offense. There were lots of short fields for the Rams that night.
Raceland ran the ball decently well, but Hazard could not run it at all. Hazards best plays were screens, which got about 4-5 yards a pop. If I’m Hazard, I would screen Raceland to death to slow down their pass rush and force their DBs to tackle, and they typically miss a lot of open field tackles.
It’s common knowledge Raceland does not throw the ball in cold weather. If I’m Hazard I completely load the box and sell out on the run. Last time they played, the Rams longest rush was 39 yards and that was by a JV player once the subs came in. Hazard did “okay” against the run last time, but if I’m the Bulldogs I’m not concerned with the pass at all.
Raceland has more depth and overall talent, and should win this one on that alone, but I think it’s 21-14 late and the Rams score a late TD with under 2 minutes to go to make it a two score game.

When Raceland first started making plans to get turf I hated it. Not because I’m one of those ….football is meant to be played on grass people. I was just upset that we actually finally had a decent playing surface and we was just gonna doze it under. With all that being said….im glad we aren’t talking about how bad the field is gonna be in this thread. It may be cold and wet but it’s not gonna be be muddy. I miss the muddy uniforms but I’m glad that the field has no outcome on the game.

This will be a tough game for the Rams for sure. I believe we will struggle to score but I also believe Hazard won’t be scoring many points on us. I think it will be close with a score late to give the Rams a comfortable win. Something like …..
Raceland 28
Hazard 7

That old field was a mess especially before they started sewing the Bermuda grass.  The old field with the old track that had tarp in the endzone had to have been one of the worst playing surfaces in the whole state.

As for this game, I think Hazard will come in with a chip in their shoulder and will be wanting to prove the last game was a fluke.  I can’t see Raceland laying an egg though and I while I think it will be a hard fought game I think Raceland takes care of business late to make it back to the semi’s.

Was it 2022 that Hazard almost pulled off the upset in Ramland in the playoffs?
I don’t think this game will make Ram fans that nervous but I do think this game will be closer than the first. The question will be can Hazard take care of the ball and string together first downs to control the clock. I think Raceland most likely wins by 3 scores, if Hazard still had Johnson I’d say 2 scores. Hazard has improved leaps and bounds from last year so nothing to hang your head about but coming out and being competitive with what very well could be your 1A state champ sends a great offseason message to your team.
Get clocked and kids and fans still think have doubt in their minds.

I went back and watched the first match up. Hazard gave us two short fields on turnovers that we took advantage of. The game wasn’t as much of a blunder for Hazard as I had remembered though. I could see us only scoring 28-35 points this time around, but I don’t see Hazard being able to score but once really. Our team speed, especially defensively made things really difficult for the Bulldogs. But with Johnson out and the Rams at home…this one won’t look much different than last time when the final horn sounds.

Hoping the Bulldogs get it done and serve the Rams some humble pie for Thanksgiving.

Hazard has changed their offense a little since last time. Running some read option with the QB keeping it quite a bit now. Also running some wishbone with the QB as a running back. Raceland may finally be at full strength Friday. Bunch of dudes out last few weeks.

I made a comment after the first game about Hazards offense. I felt the coaching staff was asking a lot from their players. All that rpo stuff takes some special dudes to run it and be successful at this level.

How many seniors does raceland lose this year?
#44
I think 10. But know that only 5 or 6 are starters or play significant rolls.

DL will take the hardest hit to graduation
#45
And yet the D-line will be just as good next year.

Raceland 35
Hazard 7

I’m hearing rumors that Gavin Johnson is gonna play friday but only on the offensive side of the ball.. be huge for the dawgs!!!

That’s from age though. Hell I’m 36…he coached me in little league bahahahaha

Johnson had 7 receptions for 47 yards and Hazards lone score last time and that score came against freshman. Hazard had 150 yards of offense and about 60 of it came on their final drive vs backups. I know they have made some changes, but I don’t think trick plays, gadgets, and the wishbone is going to be enough to over come the Ram defense.

He had 1 catch against the starters. 7 total for 47 yards. Nothing worth $hitting over

For Hazard to have a chance in this game they need to come out and punch Raceland in the mouth early and take control of the momentum of the game.  This they can do that they have a fighting chance to leave with an upset or at the very least make Raceland fight for 4 quarters to escape with a win.  If they let Raceland control the tempo of the game I think Raceland will win by at least 2 scores.

I still remember 2020 now I am really old but not all my memory has left me yet and Pikeville put a running clock on Hazard and we all know the end of the story so to me it would have to be that kind of game and Hazard did punch pikeville in the mouth but I think Raceland won’t let that happen but don’t let this Hazard team stick around or it might be a ball game but I see Raceland winning by 2 or 3 scores or maybe worse if Hazard plays like they did the first time
#53
The biggest difference between Hazard with Raceland and Pikeville…team speed. It’s evident on film. Especially upfront for Raceland and at LB for Pikeville. I just don’t think Hazard can hang.
#54
With it being cold and possibly snowy tomorrow I look for Raceland to pound the ball and eat a lot of clock. The offense has done a really good job this season at being able to sustain drives and punish teams by grinding the ball down the field to control the time of possession. That being said, if the Hazard team that showed up in the first half against Corbin shows up this could be a very interesting game.
#55
If Johnson plays for Hazard that will give them a punchers chance. I think Hazard pulls off the upset and advances.
#56
Snow on the ground in Ramland!
#57
If Hazard is gonna win this game then they need to hold Raceland to under 20 points. Hazard needs to make Raceland drive the field and not give them short fields. Cold weather is upon us, so these teams will need to take care of the ball. Hazard can’t afford the game to start like it did in Williamsburg. Yes Williamsburg give it back the next play but it doesn’t need to start like that because Raceland has a very good chance to capitalize on it because it seems they don’t turn the ball over a lot. Hazard need to keep this pressure up they been getting on the opposing quarterbacks when raceland decides to pass it. But all in all can’t wait for this game, but win or lose Hazard is on the way up and exciting times are back. Coach Chandler has it heading in the right direction.

How did Johnson go from broken leg out for the season to playing atleast on offense?

Hazard has ran that all year just running it more often. Pelfrey is hard kid to tackle. If they can control clock and finish drives could be a really close game.

Now that’s a very good question….  I remember seeing him walk to his dad’s vehicle and they left to go to the hospital when he went down with an injury.
