To be fair, the Bobcats did play a lot of youngsters in key roles.  They really should improve if they keep everyone out. And with Somerset moving out of the district, they should finish first every year. They will have to be able to beat Belfry in the 3rd round instead of Beechwood in round 2.

There’s little to nothing coming up from the middle school. Unless kids transfer in from across the Tug or from another school then Martin County is dropping off dramatically. Prestonsburg loses 2 starters. That’s it. Returns everyone else and adds talented freshman and is likely to get some transfers.

I also remember the first time both played in September when Pburg beat them 36-8. But if you want us to send you a district championship JV belt our boosters can get one made for you guys. 

As for middle school level ball, I wouldn’t look up AMS record vs Martin Co over the last 4 years if I was you. It ain’t pretty. 

I do wish though that Pburg was playing Martin County like they would’ve in the old format, just so Hager could coach circles around that staff again. Ha.

I absolutely agree. Martin co loses the majority of their weapons and will definitely take a step back next year from a this year team that wasn’t exactly playing at a high level. Watts saved their season by coming out around week 4. By far the biggest offensive weapon they have. They’ll still have some good pieces but to even get back to this years level it sounds like it’ll  be a few years. Should be P Burgs district to lose for the next handful of years.

Lol Well the first game of JV season the score was 21-14 pburg so you’re confused again. Secondly you are misremembering how the latter game played out but I won’t refresh your memory because you are gonna believe what you want anyways. Third JV games do matter so don’t come on here downplaying your own kids because they matter just as much as the best player on the team.  As for everything else you got. Wes did a great job this year no doubt about it I’m happy for him. Hope they have enough footballs to go around for the 5 starting QBs they bring in next year.

It was a blowout nonetheless and then Martin County “cancels” the next JV game the day before its scheduled.

And I was never trying to downplay any of the Pburg players. Hager and staff chose to take players that didn’t get much time during the other JV games and left all the freshman and sophomores that play any varsity back in Pburg. Martin County chose to run up the score late and celebrate like they’d won the Super Bowl.

Anyways, enjoy relying heavily on Maynard while you have him. We’ll send out that JV trophy this week with Wes Hager’s auto on it.

Martin County is about to graduate like 12 starters. 

If Maynard stays at MC he’ll keep Martin County pretty competitive because he’s a great athlete. But he’ll have to carry that football team single handily. 
There’s little to nothing coming up from the middle school. Unless kids transfer in from across the Tug or from another school then Martin County is dropping off dramatically. Prestonsburg loses 2 starters. That’s it. Returns everyone else and adds talented freshman and is likely to get some transfers.

I think you’re confused a lot of the time lol. Why do PBurg people think Maynard is transferring? It is manufactured by the adults. It was the same thing when Chase got the basketball job. Maynard had been going to p burg for 5 years and it’s not happening and it won’t happen I can assure you. As for what Martin county is losing they have extremely solid freshman and sophomore class's and do have a handful of hold back 8th graders who are state champions in wrestling who will contribute to the high school football team our best running back wasn’t allowed to play this year in middle school. I think you forgot about 3 weeks ago Martin county JV football team beat PBURG 40-8 and it could have been a lot worse. I’m not saying next year game will be anywhere near that but it will be a higly Competitive game between the two like it has been for pretty much the last 20 years outside a few years both ways. As far as transfers go it looks like Martin county has been winning in that department as well and I’m sure they will add a few for next year. i know one thing I sure wish these two teams were playing Friday night in a sold out regional championship game and the kids could decide the game on the field in a true regional game.

I do remember the JV game a few weeks ago, the game where Pburg literally brought basically the backups to the actual JV team and MC threw a post route in the last 2 mins for a TD. I also remember the first time both played in September when Pburg beat them 36-8. But if you want us to send you a district championship JV belt our boosters can get one made for you guys. 

As for middle school level ball, I wouldn’t look up AMS record vs Martin Co over the last 4 years if I was you. It ain’t pretty. 

I do wish though that Pburg was playing Martin County like they would’ve in the old format, just so Hager could coach circles around that staff again. Ha.

I absolutely agree. Martin co loses the majority of their weapons and will definitely take a step back next year from a this year team that wasn’t exactly playing at a high level. Watts saved their season by coming out around week 4. By far the biggest offensive weapon they have. They’ll still have some good pieces but to even get back to this years level it sounds like it’ll  be a few years. Should be P Burgs district to lose for the next handful of years.

Breathitt County’s path starting next season gets much easier.

They’ll be in a district with West Carter, Morgan Co and Jackson Co. Their JV could win that district.

Beechwood, Breathitt Co, Prestonsburg, and Belfry are the top 4 teams from the East in 2A for the next two seasons.

Ain’t no doubt, but I’m grateful to get to see my alma mater playing another week and host a quarterfinal game for the first time in a dozen years. 

They’ve accomplished a lot this year and done it with only 2 seniors. Pretty impressive.

If 5 or 6 wins a year and an early exit in the playoffs is “pretty good” then I guess they’re going to be fine.
