Raceland vs Lexington Christian Academy. Thoughts?

Hopefully Raceland but I an taking LCA

I would imagine some people won’t be playing in this game.

At the beginning of the season I would have said LCA by at least 4 scores but Raceland has improved a lot throughout the season. That being said I still think LCA is a 2 score favorite but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Rams pull the upset either.
LCA 28
Raceland 14
LCA 28
Raceland 14

Any injury update on Raceland?

At full strength I think the Rams have improved enough to pull off an upset. That being said, it would take a perfect game and some mistakes by LCA. I think we keep it close for awhile but LCAs speed finally gets us behind late.
LCA 27
Rams 15
LCA 27
Rams 15

Picking LCA but if Raceland is healthy, they’d have a chance. Still think they’ll be competitive.

LCA!

So on this thread the only team in this game that has improved is Raceland that is saying a lot when LCA beat a good CAL team and some others now I don’t disagree that Raceland has improved but i won’t say that LCA hasn’t the only team I can honestly say hasn’t is Pikeville and if that ship don’t get turned around it will be a short postseason for them now in saying that who did Raceland play after Pikeville that you guys consider as good as LCA or better i will be waiting

LCA big

Highlands. They are the best team we played this year and it’s not close, imo. Next it’s Ashland, then Pikeville. Since those games Raceland isn’t only improved, but offensively there is no comparison. And not from a numbers standpoint. The offense is just more stable and more fluid with Waller in at QB and Ison at WR. Also got 3 other starters back as well. We are not the same team that we were. No one has said LCA hasn’t improved. No one has even picked Raceland to win. I just think that preseason I had this as a running clock. Now I think this game looks more like the Ashland game and LCA pulls away by 2 or 3 scores late. That being said, if we can score 28…we got a shot to win the game.

Well I agree with most of what you said but I believe LCA is better than Highlands according on their score with Lexington Catholic Highlands beat them 17 to 7 LCa beat them 42 to 23 and I know it’s hard to go by scores but I believe LCA is better than Highlands and I hope you do win but Raceland hasn’t played a very good team since Highllands to say they have a whole lot better offense and hopefully they score 28 this weekend I like nothing better to see LCA lose

LCA 42
Raceland 14
Raceland 14

If we score 28 on LCA I really don’t care if it’s in a win our loss. To me, putting 28 points up on them would solidify my thoughts in how far the offense has come. Because against the toughest part of our schedule, we couldn’t manufacture much.

We are far from 100% nobody is at this time of year. This is a survive for the playoffs and don’t get anybody else hurt game
10-28-2024, 04:09 PM
Kind of what I was afraid of tbh
10-29-2024, 10:18 AM
Pulling for the Rams, but have to pick LCA, probably by a few touchdowns

Raceland needs to start getting more competitive in these games. It’s fine to schedule teams that make you better but at least be able to compete in those games. I know it’s only been two years of playing a tougher schedule and it will take some time but we need to keep these types of schedules and eventually….hopefully we can see improvement from it

We held highlands to 165 total yards how competitive do you want us to be?

I think our defense has been capable of producing a championship several times over the last 20 years. Offensively we have lacked an identity against good teams and haven’t had much in terms of an answer if our strength and experience didn’t pan out. I think if the last few years would have been called the way the offense has been called the last 4 weeks or so, we would have gotten that elusive first title. The offense is just different. I’m not saying that it’s going to beat LcA this weekend. I’m not saying it’s going to be enough to win a title this year. But it’s different and way more diverse. Nowhere near as predictable. Now, that being said, what happens in a game like this week?Does the newly expanded playbook continue? Does it expand? Or does it condense back down to run the ball, screen, deep ball, run, run, run, and back to the same old same old? I think we have turned a bit of a corner in that regard.
In years past, we just crammed the ball down the districts throat and didn’t worry about the passing game. This year it’s been the opposite. We could have thrown ZERO passes against the district schedule and won by wider margins than we did. But we continued to work on the pass. That’s something we haven’t done, maybe ever. This years group seems more comfortable being uncomfortable than any Raceland team I can recall. Like I said, idk if any of it changes the outcome of this Friday or the post season, but it’s definitely a step in a direction that a lot of us have been waiting for.

We screwed a punt up and they got a short field and scored before the half. Then opened the 3rd with a kick off return for a TD because a kid just completely jumped out of the way of the ball carrier. The score says whether you win or lose. It doesn’t say how competitive you were(10-29-2024, 04:31 PM)RAM-A-DEVIL Wrote: We held highlands to 165 total yards how competitive do you want us to be?Umm…more than 35-0 ha. Yards mean nothing when you can’t cross the goal line or keep them from crossing it. The score is kind of a big deal

One wake up remains and then we will see how much we have really improved. How is LCAs roster looking health wise? Everyone’s banged up this time of year, but was wondering if they had anything significant going on with injuries.

Interested to see how Rams perform against a good LCA team.

They are going to get blown out
[/quote]
Define “blown out”
I could see them getting beat by a few TDs, maybe 3. But Pikeville got beat by them by 2 TDs so if Raceland matches that, all is good in the world.

For me this game is more about us staying healthy and being able to produce offensively. I don’t worry about the defense being able to do enough for us to make a good run in the playoffs. But against good teams, we have not been able to put up much in terms of offensive production. After the switch to Waller at QB and Ison back to WR, we got Rowsey back as well. Then we got Rister back. The offense looked a lot different. But, did it look different bc of personel? Or was it just the timing of that happening and the schedule getting easier? The playbook definitely expanded. Now the question is does that play book continue to expand against the competition that LCA is going to put up? Or will it shrink back down and go back to the run at all cost mentality?

Let's say the score becomes 42-21 LCA, then that would be considered a blowout, one-sided, and (tell 'em) Large Marge (sent ya) victory.
11-01-2024, 03:29 PM
I don’t think this will be a blow out at all. I think Raceland will lose but maybe 1-2 scores if both teams are healthy. I would not be surprised for Raceland to pull out an upset. Pikeville should have beaten LCA even down several starters to injury. Interested to watch it back and see what happens with the RPI after tonight’s games.
