Pulaski County vs Corbin. Thoughts?

Slobber knocker! Pulaski in a mild upset.
Pulaski 42
Corbin 35

This should be a fun one.

Pulaski struggles with the passing defense, Corbin struggles with run defense.

Great opportunity for some great coaching with two new HCs.

Would like to see PC pull it out to help their RPI. (still underrated)

I'm not seeing where Pulaski is underrated, in RPI or otherwise.  Their best win is George Rogers Clark, who is 4-5. The only team that they have beaten with a winning record is South Laurel, who is 5-3 due to a soft schedule. The teams that they have beaten are 17-35.  They are definitely much improved, and have hung in there with some good teams, but haven't beaten any of them.  The Corbin game gives them a chance for a win over a really good team.  I think they would have a better shot at home, but they can still pull it off on the road.  I think Corbin takes it, but it won't be easy. Redhounds 35,, Maroons 28.

Walt if you can’t see the underrating in the rpi, then idk what to say. Look across the khsaa board 1A-6A at the rpi ratings, pulaski would be ranked almost 80th best team in the state. That’s nonsense, they annihilate over half the teams with a higher rpi.

They’re a top 30-35 team minimum, it’s easy to see. They've lost to 3 top 30 teams by a total of 14 points, two of those games were lost in the last 30 seconds of the game. Can you see where I’m coming from now?

According to RPI standards, Corbin should win this game with a running clock. But sounds like it could be close and it ain’t going to be a running clock.
Can you see it yet?

You don't understand how the RPI is set up. It isn't made to put all teams from all classes in one ranking.  You aren't supposed to be able to take Owensboro Catholic's RPI and compare it Pulaski's RPI and say that OCS should running clock the Maroons. It is set up to rank teams within their own class by using their formula. It's a stupid formula but it's what they're using.  This RPI isn't meant to be like the RPI in the NCAAs where it ranks all the teams from 1-130.

If you want a system like that, that is more accurate try CalPreps.  They have Pulaski ranked 31st in all classes.  That's 2 spots below Beechwood , which, from their head to head matchup, seems legit.  They have Pulaski ranked 9th in 5A. And they project the score of the game against Corbin to be 38-27 Redhounds on a neutral field.

Trying to compare and rate teams with RPI is dumb. Lol use Cal Preps or Massey.

As a lifelong Pulaski fan for far more years than I care to admit, and a parent of a son on the current team i don't feel like Pulaski has been underrated or disrespected any this year. We beat the teams we was supposed to and lost to the teams most thought we would lose to on these forums, just by not as much as some was thinking. I do think it's crazy for anyone to think this will be over a 2 score game either way but that's the great thing about opinions and why they actually line up and play the game on the field and not on paper. Pulaski early on in the season had some issues with ALOT of penalties, probably due to learning a completely new system and getting used to a new coaching style. They have cleaned that up and imo are playing really really good football at the right time. As Coach Burns likes to say we will play anybody anywhere, and with that being said I'm going to quote Caoch Cal and say "I like my team" lol

I'm a Calpreps guy. Massey is also good. RPI sucks more than Stormy.

The Calpreps model is really good, especially as the season ages.

Pulaski pulls the upset here.

I see a confident Elam when I watch Corbin. Corbin has the offense working extremely well. Corbin rolls again.

Corbin by 21+ Pulaski will be there soon just not this time around.

Hah thanks for clearing that up, that is a stupid formula. Thats all i meant by saying underrated. Since RPI now has somewhat of a say so in playoffs now.

Pulaski in a close one. We all know how tight games go over there, flags will be flying!
#20
It’ll be a shootout. Corbin has a great offense, but a god awful defense Pulaski will be able to take advantage of it and pull off an upset by a score late in the game

corbin 35-28 in a dandy.

I'm more likely to pull a groin tying to scale the fence to get in the game free. I'm not risking a groin pull and Pulaski ain't pulling no upset in the house that Cox built.

Pulaski by 1. They go for 2 on final TD to win it. Elam is top 2 or 3 QB in the state. 43-42

Corbin's offense proves too much for Pulaski. I think Corbin wins comfortably.
#27
ok, so no FREE parent streaming?

With all three teams in Pulaski out of town and the scope of this game being what it is, I’d love for the Cumberland sports guys to stream this game. Someone needs to reach out to them and see about making it happen

I have heard that once the season ends that they are tearing down the visitor stand a rebuilding it with really nice press boxes and when they do that they are going to have a student lead media team that will have capability's of everything from Coach interviews to instant replay. I have noticed they have already been testing some of it at home games this season. hopefully that will mean that a really good live feed of games also. I know that's not much help for this season, but something to look forward to in the future.

Salmons sweats it out during a close first half! Sloppy ball played by corbin in the first half. A good ol salmons butt rippin at the half brings a fired up corbin team out that wins by 3-4 scores to finish out regular season play for the redhounds.
