Final.

What a game.
#3
Wow!! Congratulations Ashland!
#4
I didn't get to watch it, but I was keeping an eye on the updates. Sounded like a great game.
#5
Very fun game. I caught the second half. The 4th quarter was crazy.
#6
you score with 31 seconds left to go up 2 and lose by 5...
might be time to old yeller the defensive coordinater man
#7
What a game! That 4th quarter was really fun to watch. Congrats to Ashland for finding a way to win.
#8
Bull, does this result likely mean the following for Round 3?

Cov Cath @ Boyle

Corbin @ Ashland
#9
Congratulations to Ashland Johnson Central still can’t stop the pass

Special teams coach didn’t do him any favors.

I truly felt like JC scored too soon with only 26 left. I know that sounds insane but that was my first thought. On the TD that won, kid couldn’t have been more wide open if JC only played with 7 on defense.

Ashland ran a nice switch route concept and the DB's did not switch.

Turned it on in the fourth quarter, fun game unless your JC

Quick reactions-----
Johnson Central cannot throw the pass, Johnson Central cannot stop the pass.
At some point you have to realize its 2024 not 1954 and be able to throw it when needed and be able to stop it.
If they ever get down by two scores or more in a game and can't hit a homerun on a long run, they are in trouble.

Ashland never panicked. Great game to watch. The Tomcats are for real.

That's a sad indictment on their defense.

Great Win for the Tomcats I’ll watch it after work tonight but sounds like another classic in the rivalry!!

Not necessarily, RPI still has Corbin at Home until it changes but no doubt looking like Corbin and Ashland will be locking horns. Also, Johnson Central will have to play at Covington Catholic and may end up beating CC and if so, Boyle will be looking at either CC or JC as it stands right now. Either way, Corbin and Ashland will be playing somewhere.. Smile

I love the poise of the Ashland QB, he just waits till he gets hit and then throws a Bullitt. Nice job young man!!!  Smile

To the Ashland Coaches who coaches defense. I applaud your gameplan, it sure slowed down a very good offense tonight. I paid real close attention to that and A+ from my seat!  Thats how you run it! Love the pursuit of the linebackers!

If JC had a defense they would be onto something
#22
I thought JC actually pulled this one out and this is why the game is played, with hardly any time Ashland flat out did what championship teams do, and not lay down but play till the game is over and boy did they, they flat out had a last-minute comeback that was one for the ages!
#23
As a JC fan this is the same story as all year. You have a championship level offense and a first round exit defense. At some point changes are going to have to be made on that side of the ball. They don’t have a ton of speed but the biggest issue is just constant busted coverages and missed tackles. That is the hallmark of a poorly coached defense.

I was wondering, did JC have players that play on offense that could play both ways? To help on the defense?

Heck of a game! Again two titans battling to the very end! Another instant classic between these two!

Congrats Ashland on the win.  Their offense scored whenever they wanted for the most part.  Defense done a good job slowing down our run especially in the first half.

I've been saying since I come on here,  that Ashland is a serious contender.  They definitely proved that tonight.

Heck of a fight by both teams!

JC heck of an effort. Take the bye week to rest and heal up some.  Work on some things especially,  Defense.  You've been right there knocking on the door,  against some really good teams.  Keep your heads up and keep trucking.  Your still in this thing,  anything can happen.  It's not over until it's over.  You've went the wire with Ashland and Corbin.  I could see either one playing for a state title.  You took em both the distance. That tells me,  you're still in this thing  Wink

Say what you all will,  so be it,  but we've had some of the most entertaining games this year! Definitely fun to watch.  Got some things to work on  Wink

Also hat's off to the 98.9 wsip radio crew.  They done a great job broadcasting the game.  Often times in the weather.  Much respect to their crew  Wink

Corbin vs Ashland would be a dandy game to watch.  Be a heck of a battle right there!

JC has the same "pound it down your throat" offense they have always had, but without the defense and special teams. Meaning they have to be perfect in clock management. Leaving that much time on the clock gave Ashland a chance and they took advantage.
#27
Crazy ending to this one
#28
What happened at the end I was listening to the guys doing the Russell and East game and they said the game clock was at 0 and they put 5 or 6 seconds back on the clock and Ashland scored then. I don't know if they had it correct or not I was just wondering if that happened.

But how will they / can they stop Kid Elam???

As would Corbin. JC's lack of defense is an abomination to the game of football. You score to take the lead with a half a minute to go and you LOSE. What the ...

Awesome job out of the Tomcats. This team fought to the end and pulled out the victory. What an instant classic in this rivalry. LaBryant Strader was a man possessed and in my opinion proved that he is the best Tomcat QB ever in its long historic tradition.

On a serious note how in the world could a tradition rich program like Johnson Central be that bad defensively? There’s no way the defensive coordinator, secondary coach and special teams coordinator should coach another game. They are an embarrassment to the game of football.
