More evidence FOX is Trumps mouthpiece

Trump Says He’s Meeting Murdoch, Will Ask to Curb Negative Ads (msn.com)

He is going to Murdoch to tell him not to run negative ads about him Hoot come on man.
Fox News was Trump's mouthpiece for the 2016 campaign, just as nearly all of the rest of the mainstream media backed Hillary Clinton. Fox News is not the reason that Kamala Harris cannot answer basic questions about her own policy positions. You can try to create an army of scapegoats, but Kamala is her own worst enemy. She sits down for one tough interview, which really should not have been tough at all, had she been able to answer very predictable questions - and you are whining like Trump shot your dog.

Speaking of shooting, have you seen the videos of Tim Walz attempting to load what was supposedly his own shotgun? It is hilarious. He is lucky that he still has the body parts that make him a male.

Remember Dukakis on the tank??? That, and Willie Horton might have cost him the election. Politicians on both sides are notorious for trying to prove their authenticity by being unauthentic.  Trump wasn't the picture of authenticity when he held the Bible up for a photo -op in front of the church.
That tank photo is unforgettable. Whoever handed him that oversized helmet deserves some credit for turning that election from a toss-up into a landslide. What puzzles me is why Walz allowed a video to be recorded if he did not know how to load a shotgun. (I believe that somebody claimed that he was trying to unload the gun, as if it makes any difference.) I don't own a firearm, but I know that you should not hold either end of a gun near your groin.

I am sure that there have been plenty of Republicans who made similar blunders, such as Quayle misspelling potato at a spelling bee, but John Kerry appeared in at least three photos that damaged his presidential campaign. There was a photo of him crawling out of a tunnel dressed in a "baby blue 'bunny suit'," which NASA released, a photo of him wind surfing off Nantucket, and a photo of him riding a pink girl's style bike. Republicans took full advantage of the Kerry photos to portray him as an unmanly elitist.

Then there was the photo of a married Gary Hart with a 29-year old model, Donna Rice, sitting in his lap on a boat named "Monkey Business." That photo not only forced Hart from withdrawing from the Democrat race for the nomination (he reentered the race to run in the NH primary before withdrawing for good), but it effectively ended his political career. He had earlier denied that he was having an affair and challenged the media to follow him and confirm that he was telling the truth.
This is my favorite

Do you know what that video does not have in common with the examples that OSH and I gave? It did not cost Trump and election or end his political career.  Smile

Hoot and I were discussing past political blunders earlier. Not saying this stunt will cost Trump in any way but it is about as ridiculous looking as Dukakis on that tank with that big ass helmet.  I applaud McDonald's , though, for giving convicted felons a second chance to get back on their feet. lol

I think Trump was making a point by working at McDonalds. I expect that he will be challenging Kamala to prove her claim that she once worked at a McDonalds. She appears to have made up a lot of her biography,

I've got no idea whether Kamala ever worked at a McDonalds but the photo proves that Trump has. I think Trump had a reason for his stunt and I don't think it was to enhance his resume.

“I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala,” Trump quipped Sunday.

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump followed up by offering a cash reward to anybody who can prove that they ever worked with Kamala at a McDonalds.

Trump is virtually immune to having anything he says or does impact the current poll numbers negatively. It's the boy who cried wolf effect. People like Maga Nuts (and worse) who have spent more than a dozen years warning everybody of the dire consequences of a Trump presidency, only to have few of those predictions come true, have inoculated him against criticism by his haters. People who hate Trump with every fiber in their bodies are powerless to hurt his poll numbers. Trump is rising in the polls, despite his longtime and long-winded critics.

A new poll released today has Trump up by 10 points in Florida. A poll released yesterday had him up by 3 points in Pennsylvania.

Kamala's alliance with neocons like the Cheneys and Bill Krystol are not helping her poll numbers at all. I remember when Dick Cheney was Enemy #1 among left-wing Democrats. Now, their presidential candidate has embraced endorsements by neocons. As they say, politics make strange bedfellows and it does not get any stranger than a pairing of Dick Cheney and Kamala Harris.

I have now watched videos of Trump's appearance at a McDonalds in Pennsylvania yesterday and I have to admit it was a brilliant stunt. He requested a job and said that he is running against a candidate who falsely claims to have worked at McDonalds. What he did was take a poke at Kamala's honesty in a humorous way. It was quite a contrast to Kamala's appearance yesterday with celebrities and her increasingly angry screaming at campaign events.

I also watched the reaction of local Steelworkers to his promise to use import tariffs to protect their jobs. I am personally opposed to imposing tariffs to protect jobs, but I do support imposing them in response to government subsidies or to retaliate against tariffs imposed by other countries. I prefer lowering corporate taxes and lightening regulatory burdens to make American companies more competitive with global competitors, but I support the use of tariffs when countries like China unfairly subsidize industries to drive American companies out of the market. We cannot afford, as a country, to be completely dependent on imports in key industries that impact national security.

I believe that Trump's promises of tariffs to protect union steelworker jobs in Pennsylvania will be very effective.

Surely you do not believe that lowering Corporate taxes again would be a good thing.  The 2017 Corporate tax decrease will add approximately 1.3 trillion dollars to the deficit over a 10 year period.  I'm sure it sounds good to some, especially if your income is in the top 1%, but how about the Politicians thinking long term and not just about the next election.

I am opposed to any corporate taxes, but lowering rates to improve the competitiveness of American companies producing strategic materials and products would be a good start. Corporate shareholders and employees already pay income taxes. In reality, corporations do not pay taxes they pass the costs of production to consumers, including corporate income taxes.

How concerned were you when the federal spending exploded under the Biden-Harris administration, which caused the inflation rate to soar? How much has their spending contribute to the national debt? Where is your outrage over their irresponsible spending? Inflation is a hidden tax that impacts every segment of our society. Why do liberals love tax hikes so much?
I used my handy, dandy AI to help me compose the following argument against corporate income taxes. Of course, if corporate income taxes were eliminated, it would remove one of politicians' favorite targets of demonization. When you advocate higher corporate income taxes, you are asking the government to allow you to pay more for goods and services. The joke is on you.

1. Corporate Taxes Increase Consumer Prices
Corporate income taxes act as an additional cost of doing business. When faced with higher costs, companies pass these costs on to consumers in the form of higher prices for goods and services. Eliminating corporate income taxes would lower the cost of doing business, directly leading to lower prices for consumers. In competitive markets, this would reduce inflationary pressure, making goods and services more affordable and stimulating economic activity.
2. Double Taxation of Shareholders
Corporations distribute profits to shareholders in the form of dividends, which are taxed at both the corporate and individual levels. This system of double taxation discourages investment and wealth creation. By eliminating corporate income taxes, the burden of double taxation would be lifted, resulting in greater incentives for investment. Shareholders would still pay taxes on dividends and capital gains, but without the corporate layer of taxation, capital would be more efficiently deployed, encouraging growth and benefiting the overall economy.
3. Employees Already Pay Income Taxes
Employees of corporations are paid through wages, which are subject to income tax. Corporate profits fund these wages, so taxing the corporation’s profits as well as the employee’s wages is effectively redundant. Eliminating corporate income taxes would allow businesses to retain more earnings, which would increase the potential for higher wages, expanded benefits, or reinvestment in employee training and development. Since employees already pay taxes on their earnings, eliminating the corporate tax would ensure the income is only taxed once, promoting fairness and efficiency.
4. Simplification of the Tax Code
Corporate tax regulations are complex, requiring significant resources for compliance and enforcement. By eliminating corporate income taxes, the tax code would become significantly simpler. Corporations would no longer need to dedicate large amounts of time and money to navigate complex tax laws, freeing up capital for investment in innovation, expansion, and hiring. This simplification would increase business efficiency and allow companies to focus on their core operations, leading to higher productivity.
5. Encouraging Domestic and Foreign Investment
Corporate income taxes make a country less attractive to investors, both domestic and foreign, because they reduce after-tax returns. Eliminating these taxes would make the business environment more favorable, leading to increased investment. Greater investment would boost job creation, expand business opportunities, and enhance economic growth. Additionally, without corporate income taxes, companies would have less incentive to engage in profit shifting or tax avoidance strategies, keeping more wealth and economic activity within the country.
6. Corporate Income Taxes Are Inefficient
Corporate income taxes are volatile and inefficient, creating uncertainty for businesses and the government alike. Eliminating them would provide stability in the tax system, allowing businesses to plan with greater certainty and reducing the government’s reliance on an unpredictable revenue stream. This would lead to a more stable fiscal environment, which is crucial for long-term economic planning.

Democrats love to spend, absolutely no denying it, although I can only put partial blame on the current administration for the inflation numbers.  Inflation had to happen due to all of the money that both the Trump and Biden Administrations threw into the economy to help businesses and individuals impacted by the Pandemic.  Now did the Dems overdo it a little, I'm sure they did, but both Trump and Biden did what needed to be done and the inflation was the direct result of it.

What most people do not realize or maybe don't want to admit is that every Country in the World was affected by inflation and the US has rebounded better than any other Country, so on the flip side Biden should get credit for this as well as being blamed for the inflation.

Also Corporate profits drove over 50% of inflation during 2023, so there is a link between Corporate price gouging and inflation.  "The last quarter in 2023 was one of the best ever for Corporate America after tax income.  It doesn't appear that too much was trickling down, as I once believed.  So I don't really trust Corporate America to share the wealth of another tax break with the lower and middles classes that keep getting squeezed.

I appreciate your serious response to my posts. I know that I am in the minority when it comes to corporate taxation, but when I read that a corporation has reported record earnings, I see it as good news. Most corporations (i.e., their shareholders and employees) lost a lot of money because of the pandemic. It is understandable that the economy rebounded strongly after the pandemic ended. If you have a pension fund, a 401K fund, etc., then you are invested in corporations. Every time that the government increases taxes on corporations, your personal finances take a hit, because corporations will pass the bill for taxes to you through lower dividend payments going into your retirement funds and higher prices when you purchase goods and services.

Price gouging does not exist unless a company holds a monopoly in its market or is colluding with competitors to keep prices artificially high. I support the federal government pursuing antitrust actions against corporation when that occurs, but price gouging was really not a factor in the inflation rate soaring. There was probably going to be some increase in the inflation rate without the federal government running the dollar printers overtime, but spending was the primary cause in the inflation rate climbing over 8 percent. Price gouging is just a Democrat talking point to excuse Biden and Harris, and other Democrats and Republicans, for excessive spending for political reasons. Politicians love to give away money to buy votes and blame inflation of the other party.

As Milton Friedman said, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Somebody pays. In the case of corporate taxes, we all pay them.

Corporations are nothing more than organizations created to encourage investment by individual people to create goods and services. People pay every tax that the government imposes upon a corporation. It really makes no sense to allow politicians to get away with "punishing" corporations by raising income tax rates. It's a scam.

Just hoe concerned was you when federal spending blew up under Trump? Trump has added more to national debt than Biden even with higher interest rates.

(10-21-2024, 02:54 PM)Hoot Gibson Wrote: I used my handy, dandy AI to help me compose the following argument against corporate income taxes.

Heard this Bullsh!t since Reagan nothing but Horsesh!t.
That's just your way of saying you are clueless and not able to follow a logical argument. I never expected that you would respond with anything but nonsense. How do you think responses like the one above make you look?
Is there nobody else who wants to go on the record with a prediction? 538 Electoral College votes up for grabs and it takes 270 to win the election. Kamala has gone negative with her campaigning in a big way.

Harris and Walz are also scheduled to spend time in some states where they have no chance of winning, such as Texas. That seems like a questionable strategy this late in the campaign. Democrats are dumping millions of dollars into the Texas trying to beat Ted Cruz. If I were Cruz's opponent, I would ask Kamala to stay far, far away.
Ted Cruz is never going to be President, no matter how many election rounds BGR fanboys jerk off to him and his beard.

The Turtle laid the smack down
Pretty scathing indictment of Trump by Mitch. Not much love from me towards the turtle, though. He could have easily whipped up guilty verdicts from nine or ten other senators if he had followed his conscience and voted guilty. He knows what he should have done. His party would have been the better for it and possibly on the way to returning to some degree of normalcy. He's right about Reagan not recognizing today's Republican Party. The Gipper, like the Cheneys and Bushs, would hate Trump's MAGA.
Mitch is just like all of the MAGA Voters got no backbone he had a chance to end this disaster, but he didn't.
History will look back at MAGA and say why did the people follow this guy.
Harris 286
Trump 252
All the radical leftists singing from the same sheet of music. McConnell did not do the right thing. He should have had the entire Republican Party, along with any patriotic Democrats he could influence to vocally denounce both impeachments of Trump for the farces that they were. But he didn't do that and the reason that he declined to behave honorably is that despite their lifetime service as government employees, McConnell and his wife are among the wealthiest politicians in this nation. Honest federal employees do not go from rags to riches.

These leftist Democrats are the same people who repeated the nonsense about Hunter Biden's laptop not really being his laptop, but part of a Russian disinformation campaign. The same leftist Democrats who listened to Joe Biden lie during a debate when he denied his coke head son had taken any money from China, when Hunter testified under oath that he had made several million dollars from his Chinese benefactors.

Donald Trump is not a perfect man and he is not somebody that I would befriend if he were my neighbor, but some very basic logic should be all that is necessary to conclude that he is not a would-be Hitler with an ambition to be the world's dictator, or even this nation's dictator. He even declined to crusade for Hillary Clinton's prosecution after he won the election in 2016. When did Hitler or when did the Democrats show their political enemies any mercy?

There are good reasons why Donald Trump is drawing new members to the Republican Party from blue collar workers, black Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Arab Americans. You should collectively pull your heads out of the sand and begin asking yourselves what the new Republican converts see in Trump that you fools are missing.

I plan to celebrate Donald Trump's election in the wee hours following Election Day. I expect that he will win comfortably and that Trump will be declared the winner early, despite the hopes of all of the major news networks. If I am wrong, then this nation is in for a bumpy ride going forward.

Like Finally, somebody else shows some spine and predicts the EC vote totals.
Does anybody else think Kamala's decision to go negative and wage a "Trump is Hitler" campaign will work? Normally, left wing Jewish organizations strongly criticize any politician who equates any person with Trump or the Holocaust. I wonder if Kamala will lose any Jewish support for employing this strategy?
Three National polls have been release so far today. The Wall Street Journal poll's result is Trump +3, the CNBC poll has Trump +2, and the TIPP poll has it Harris +3. The current RCP average for the popular vote has Harris up 0.2 percent. The popular vote does not mean anything in a presidential election, but the numbers suggest that Trump may carry a state or two that nobody expects. New Mexico and Oregon would be pleasant surprises.

Here in Virginia, the DOJ is attempting to interfere in the election by trying to stop Virginia from removing illegal aliens and other non-citizens from the voter rolls. Basically, a Virginia law signed into law by former Democrat Governor Tim Kaine requires the state to remove anybody from the voter rolls that listed themselves as non-citizens on applications for driver licenses. The people who are removed have 14 days to provide proof of citizenship and they can cast provisional ballots if they miss the deadline.

Why do Democrats fight so hard to get non-citizens registered? Anyone, anyone?

NO not with the MAGA KLAN they are locked in, they tried to tell the Jim Jones and the David Koresh KLAN that their Leader was playing them and we all seen how that worked out. But real Americans who care deeply about this country just might be enough to beat the fascist MAGA KLAN. Just ask John Kelly a 4-star general in the marines who was also close to Trump his chief of staff.

In Georgia only 20 non-citizens among 8.4 million registered voters Hoot.

Keep pushing that Trump is Hitler meme. Kamala is a fool to wrap up her campaign with that tactic and anybody who buys the allegation of a bigger fool than she is. If Harris wins the election, then every American loses.

Of course, you did not address the issue of Virginia removing non-citizens from the voter rolls. The question was why? Why is the Biden-Harris DOJ interfering with Virginia following the law, just as it did under Democrat governors, including the one who signed it into law.

The motor-voter laws around the country automatically register voters that apply for driver licenses if they indicate that they are citizens. If they say that they are not citizens, then why should they not be de-registered?

20 registered voters in Georgia later claimed that they were non-citizens to avoid jury duty, and were rightly de-registered. The DOJ should have no problem with states removing ineligible voters from the voter rolls, and whether that means that 20 are removed or 20,000, if voters are non-citizens, then they should not be voting.
During a CNN Town Hall meeting yesterday, Kamala Harris criticized Donald Trump for not getting the southern border wall built during his first term. She is now promising to get the wall built. You really cannot make this stuff up.

Straight from Biden-Harris DOJ. Virginia is not systematically removing people from the voting rolls. They are removing people who said the were non-citizens. I can look up the DOJ's excuses for fighting efforts to prevent illegals from voting myself. You sound like a trained parrot. Trump is Hitler. Trump is a fascist. Kamala says it and you repeat it with no regard for the truth.

The Dems are beating a dead horse.  I would venture to say that most every undecided voter knows that Trump is a despicable person, but they are willing to possibly overlook that due to economic factors or Biden's fumbling of the border situation.  They should be putting messages out there explaining what created the inflation and the good things that were done for Americans that are the real underlying cause of the inflation.  As far as the border problems, own it or let Biden take the fall, which I doubt that he is willing to do and really play up the fact that Trump convinced Congress to kill the bill that would have solved a lot of the problems 7-8 months ago.

They may be able to win going dark and I have heard a lot of previous Trump voters tell me that they are sitting this one out because they can't vote Democrat and can't stomach voting for Trump. Trump does have almost 2 week to say or do something totally crazy therefore turning off more voters, so that's what I'm banking my prediction on, although they are trying to hide him from neutral or enemy territory as much as possible.
