Fairview 28 Paintsville 14
#1
Fairview 28 Paintsville 14 final score. Fairview scored with 50 some seconds left in the game. Fairview sounded to be very experienced tonight.
#2
WOW! Thought Paintsville would take this one.

Great win for Fairview. Should be a dandy when them and Raceland meet up later this year.
#7
I told everyone that the eagles would pull this one out. Glad to here that former LC Player Cory had a nice TD rec.

Daniel Pugh getting hurt just before the first half ended didn't help the Tigers chances by him not being able to play D. If he had been in there maybe, just maybe a few of those big plays wouldn't have happend. Tigers had the lead at the half, but thats football. Congrats to Fairview, and wish Pugh a speedy recovery.
#9
So what is the deal with Pugh?
#10
What happened to Pugh?
#11
Pugh sprained his ankle just before halftime. He didn't play defense or return punts/kicks the whole second half. But can't really blame the loss on that, Paintsville had their chances. They were inside the 15-20 two different times in the first quarter and didn't get a score. The inexperience in the OL definately showed lastnight, but I believe they will come around in the next couple weeks. The Tigers shot themselves in the foot with penalties, I have never seen so many penalties called on one team, stupid ones at that. I noticed when I went into town at 8:00 this morning that Paintsville players were at the lockerroom, I'm assuming they were watching the game film from lastnight. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes and capitalize on them next week. All in all I was pleased and most definately suprised with the outcome of this game, I was expecting the Tigers to get blowed out.

Keep up the hard work fellows, you can only get better.

Congrats Fairwiew on the hard fought victory.

how did the Qb from farview look?
#13
Im not suprised by this one. P-ville lost alot of players to graduation so they have alot of holes to fill. Pugh is a great player but he cant do it all by himself and he definately needs a O-line. P-ville will be 3rd or 4th in their district with probably 6 or 7 wins. Congrats to Fairview and good luck to Paintsville. Does Bill Musick still involved in the Football Program at Fairview since taking the superindendent job.

Pugh, doesn't do anything buy himself. Blume didn't do anything by his self last year. The o-line has improved greatly since the scrimmages, and Paintsville looked good as a team last night just struggle to score without Pugh in the lineup. Anytime you cut the head off the monster, it makes a difference. Pugh is not the only player Paintsville has, and that's a fact. He is a good player, but Paintsville played well. Sublett came up big and made some big plays last night as Humphrey, Dillon Brown, Casey Brown, and many others. I don't think anyone was disappointed with their performance last night, other than the penalities and turning the ball over. I think everyone was disappointed with the loss, but hey Fairview is a good football team and have been since Musick left JC for there. Keep your heads up Tigers, and rebound next week. To the Eagles congrats, and good luck throughout the season.

I have heard that Paintsville isn't Paintsville this year? Any truth to that? Are they really young, or has the talent pool started going to JC? Are they running an option, passing?

Yes Paintsville for the most part is young and the line is inexperienced. It's not that the talent pool has dried up or has started going to JC. The big key is that JC's talent pool is now staying at JC and not going across the creek. I cant think of any transfers that JC has lost in about the last 3 years. Maybe there has been one or two , but I cant think of the first one.
#17
The only transfers in the last two years that come to mind were Seth Alex Rice from the middle school to Paintsville to play for his brother-in-law and the Reynolds brothers for reasons that need not be discussed.
#18
Before the arrival of Jim Matney, much of JC talent was going across the creek to Paintsville cause JC wasnt winning plain and simple. Now the tables have turned with Jim Matney and all the talent is staying at JC. The Reynolds boys are good athletes and would add some depth to the JC backfield which is already deep. With the past few Apple Bowl scores, i think some of the players regret there move but who knows.

Keep to the game fellas, start a new thread if you want to talk about JC's talent going to Paintsville.....

Thank you PC_U_Know_98! Tiger fans you have nothing to worry about! The PHS team will be allright even with the loss. Pugh is awesome but the Tigers have another QB in the system that is more than ready to take over if Pugh isn't healthy.

The Tigers have no excuse for this game! Point blank, they had their chances to win but they didn't come out on top! The first game doesn't make or break you! I am sure that the Tigers will be ready to go in the playoffs.

For some strang reason, every coach Pugh has had, has him(the QB) come to the sideline and get his play, then run back to the huddle??? I guess we have never had any other players with enough where-with-all about them to be able to relay the plays to the huddle!! This makes DP put a lot of unnecessary miles on his legs that already get enough use!! Add to that, after he hurt his ankle, he was stilol coming to the sideline to get the play and I counted 10 seconds for him to hobble back to the huddle! This means, that the players were not breaking from the huddle until at least 25 seconds had passed!!! Way too long, especially when you are trailing. Coach Brugh always sent his plays in with players and I can't even remember us getting a delay penalty ever!!!
Of course our plays were only "Tony Mayes run right, or Tony Mayes run left"!!

Let's see here, you haven't even gave Coach Allen a chance there BT. After we won region we lost 2 of our first 3 games, no one seemed to get on to coach lemaster and say it was time to get rid of him. My goodness you lose a rather large senior class, all your line, and you expect them to come out and win by 30 points every game. Its not going to happen. Give them a game or two to get into the swing of things and they'll be just fine. No need to panic, I thought they looked good except for a few busted reads and assignments.

i herd that. allen has some years under his belt but he is nothing like brugh and never will be. but ill take allen any day in a deadlift contest.
do you think the team would be better of with pugh at rb? just a thought.

i know the situation. see the guru's statment and you will see a major problem.
p.s. what kind of d is allen running
#26
In my opinion his D worked just fine, a slip up here or there and a TD. They play assignment football, if you don't do your part then the whole thing goes kablooey, some of the mental lapses could've been from fatigue or lack of experience. But anyways, I thought the D looked pretty sharp for it being the first game of the season with the exception of a few plays.

PS QB going to the sideline was how it always was when I played, Chas went to the sidelines quite frequently to get plays, if he didn't like it he checked out of it, Shane Simpkins done it the same way.

congrats to fairview

it is uncomplicated method but it puts alot of miles on your QB.
