In a broader context, have you ever been swayed in your political positioning as a result of something said by a person with celebrity status?

I don't care what political beliefs celebrities have and support their First Amendment rights to express those beliefs in public. Where I draw the line is buying tickets to events like a Linda Ronstadt concert and then have the star of the show express disgust that people with my political beliefs bought a ticket to watch them perform. I walked out of a Jimmy Buffet concert during an mid-show intermission for that very reason. Fortunately, a coworker had given met tickets to the event, so I had not forked out any of my money for the event.

I stopped watching the Don Imus show years ago for similar reasons. Imus had some sort of dispute with one of his neighbors and used his platform to repeatedly bash the guy by name. If I tune into a show to be entertained, I don't want to watch the performer attack his non-celebrity neighbors on my time.

Take as much as you can for yourself for as long as you can, and then claim you are the greatest at everything.  Well, maybe not quite everything, he did state that he was only the second greatest person ever born, which is as close to a Christian statement that he has ever made.

Why is it that liberals never seem to concern themselves with the hypocrisy constantly displayed by politicians whom they support ignoring the tenets of their own religion. The abortion issue has forced a large number of liberal "practicing" Catholic politicians to ignore the Church's teachings on murder. Bill Clinton offered another great example of this hypocrisy. There was no outcry from liberals when the evidence showed that Bill Clinton regularly met Monica Lewinsky just before grabbing his Bible for a photo-op at church.

Yet, when Trump's failure to routinely profess his religious conviction is a matter of great concern to liberals. I don't hate liberals, but I do hate their hypocrisy, which seems to know no bounds.

That even goes for Scientologists, whose religion could not sound much nuttier to me, but if that is what Tom Cruise and his friends believe, then I have no beef with them provided they do not charge me for a ticket and then try to convert me on my own dime.

Speaking of hypocrisy, I have never been to a concert where the star of the show, in Jimmy Buffett's case, has tried to sell me more junk than at his concert, and I could only stomach half of the concert. For such a harsh critic of capitalism, capitalism has made him a very wealthy man.

It does reek of hypocrisy . If one maintains a stance of strict anti-capitalist, then keep your junk in your trunk, or give it away.

I used to be a big fan of Linda Ronstadt. She is one of the most versatile female vocalists in history. I support her right to say whatever she wants at her concerts, but I am glad that I never bought a ticket to attend any of them. I had purchased several of her albums before she informed me of how offensive my mere existence was to her.

I always appreciated Linda's talent and versatility as an artist but she was never one of my favorites. I could kinda take her or leave her(mostly leave her). Doesn't men she wasn't great, just not always my cup of tea. Beautiful lady , though. Those big brown eyes were to die for.
