This one will get ugly in a hurry. I wonder how Corbin's weak district schedule will impact their preparedness for the playoffs. It's lucky for them that their last regular season game is against Pulaski County.

I believe Corbin will win by 50pts

Corbin 56
Whitley County 06

That’s 50

I think really that can be said for a lot of teams, the districts are awful and really needs to come up with something different, I don't even understand what a district really is anymore other than getting a team a couple of guaranteed games and 1st two round playoff opponents. Very few teams have a tuff go in a district. So, no matter who is mentioned it can be argued that they play a weak district or possibly a weak schedule other than the few teams who schedule tuff. We all know who those teams are. I think this is the time of year coaches has to make practice tuff and keep the kids focused. I think the Pulaski game was a smart move on Salmons and Burns to make it happen. Whitley game should be a good game for Corbin to work on the run defense. Whitley runs the ball and hardly passes. Well, no better time to work on run defense than the present. Because no matter who you play in the deep playoffs, they all can run and then some can run and pass. Corbin rolls.  Smile

It wont take much to get ready for the one dimensional Johnson Central team. The Pulaski County offense would embarrass them.

Most all the teams that can't pass will be sitting at the house watching teams that can pass.

I like a schedule like Johnson Central has this season better. Their schedule is open on the last week of the season and they play Ashland the week before. That gives them two weeks, the open week and a game against a weak opponent, to rest injured players and to prepare for their first round playoff game. I know coaches don't like to talk about games beyond the next one on the schedule, but part of that extra week could be devoted to begin preparing for a tough second round game. I like ending the regular season against a tough opponent and having an extra week to prepare for the playoffs.

Well, this season had a uncharacteristic situation that caused a lot of local kids to have to miss ballgames for a safety standpoint. Corbin did the right thing be cancelling IMO. So by scheduling the game at the end of the season was the only option they had. I think rest alot of times if you are injured is good. I like having a extra week to prepare. I also think if I had the option to play or not play, I would choose to play. For some of these boys, its their last go around. Sure has been a good season so far.

I wasn't being critical of Corbin's schedule. There have been years when Johnson Central played Belfry in the last week of the regular season. That game is always very physical, so it was not a very favorable schedule for either team, IMO. I think that I were a coach, I would prefer being open on that last weekend. I might feel different if the first playoff game were expected to be against a strong opponent because I would be more concerned about the team getting rusty with the extra week off.

I'm glad both Corbin and Pulaski agreed to reschedule the game. I'm really looking forward to that one. I truly believe, outside of Frederick Douglass, Pulaski might be the best overall team Corbin will face in the regular season. I believe Pulaski can win at Corbin. I'm picking Corbin but I think Pulaski can get the W.

I don’t much but I’m tickled that my LCC Cougars will be out of that district next season Corbin is just to good. Dropping to 3A will do wonders for the Cougars.

I was impressed with the players LCC had Friday night. the players seemed like really good kids too. I would like to see them do well, I hope that moving to 3A would allow the kids to have a better chance at a season that matches the talent.

Poor Whitley has never won in this series and it won't happen on Friday. Kind of a shame this series wasn't being played in the mid '90s when the Colonels might have won a few.

They played hard til the end and held their own in the second half. Gave a good effort at a tough venue. Best of  luck to them when they move to 3A.

I have this weird itching sensation in my gonadal zone(kinda my personal red zone) that tells me this one might be a bit closer that some might think. Whenever I itch, the Hounds usually struggle. Of course, it could just be the result of dating that girl I met at Pilot(the one on 25E in Corbin) three weeks ago that had a tattoo of a porcupine on her backside. I should have known better. Why do I never learn?

Anyway, Corbin will win this one.

Chappell has been at 48 school and ain’t ever won anything. If they wanna win they gotta go spend the money to get a coach that can win. But they won’t.

All of you that are coming to The Burg let me know if you want some of my delicious BBQ. I agree with you on what a quality human being Coach Chappell is. I wish for him to stay as part of The Colonels program.

Corbin is 24-0 all time against the Colonels. The average score in the series has been approximately 38-6. About eleven of the games , I think , have been shut outs. The teams played every year from 1978 to 1985, with the Hounds outscoring the Colonels by a combined score of 325 to 31. One would be hard pressed to find a more lop-sided series between neighbors.

I give the Colonels about the same chance of winning this game as me being raptured into heaven Friday night.

You mean , like nationally televises?  lol    Will anyone stream it?   I can't think of anyone who would want to video this debacle. Maybe someone will. I I like to see Whitley do well. I doubt it is tonight, however.
