I don't think that scam means what you think it means. Musk is offering an alternative for people who are currently without internet service. If I signed up for the Starlink service, then I would pay $120 more than a resident of western North Carolina for the equipment and first month of service. Starlink isn't forcing me to sign up and they are not forcing any NC residents to sign up. You admit that when you click the button to sign up, the cost of the Starlink equipment necessary to take advantage of the service is clearly displayed. They (pronoun referring to you) is a nutcase if they believe this is a scam.   (Is is the right verb to pair with they when they refers to a single human body. I'm not sure.
