It is being reported and talked about from Ironton resident's and school supporters that Pikeville has canceled what was supposed to be their away game at Ironton next year. The reason given was “We lose too much this year and won’t be able to compete”
They knew exactly what they would lose when they signed the 2-year contract with Ironton. If this is true.
Any of our Pikeville fans in the know want to weigh in on this or have any information about this?
I have also heard this was just a fill in game for the 2024 season and not a two-year deal just seeing if anyone knows one way or the other. The above is pretty much from Ironton's side of the deal.

I thought it was one game but not sure. If Pikeville is dodging it's the first time in their history. If the game was cancelled within a few days of the game Friday I would think it was for a reason other than dodging.

It was a 1-year deal to fill an open date on the schedule. This is the 2nd year of a two year cycle. Since there was no return game, Ironton received/will receive a stipend.

I did not think it sounded like Pikeville at all especially from the administration. I worked with Mr. Trimble when he was at Boyd Co. with my middle school basketball leagues. He is a stand-up guy!

Pikeville will never dodge anyone. In all my 48 years as a Panther fan I have never seen it happen. Imo, don't know how many players will be gone next season because of graduation, but that would not be a factor, and to say Pikeville backed out, when it was a fill in game just didn't make sense.

It’s a simple solutions, either AD shows the contract for a 1 or 2 year agreement and then there u go.

I figure this is nonsense.
I mean you can look at Pikeville's schedule and see they aren't afraid to play games they aren't favored to win.
No reason in starting a two-year deal with Ironton when it's mid-cycle.
Next year they can do all two-year contracts.

Why would Pikeville be afraid of Ironton? They controlled much of the game and without poor clock management at the end of the first half and more special teams blunders, Pikeville wins that game. Shaun Terry won the game for Ironton. They clearly lose without him. He goes to college next season and Ironton loses players just like Pikeville to graduation so again, not sure why Pikeville would cancel a game when they have never done that before. That claim smells funny.

^^^Already been thoroughly debunked on other site with pic of contract no less.

Call Belfry if Ironton needs a game next season.
