Boyle County is currently on a 26 game winning streak. The last loss they had was in 2022 to Frederick Douglass. My question is what is the KHSAA record for longest winning streak and could Boyle break it? I know Highlands had a long winning streak something close to 40 games back from like 2008-2010.

If I'm not mistaken, Trinity had a 50-win streak from 1988 to 1991. Then I believe the next longest was Bowling Green with a 48-win streak in the early 2010s, which is close to number three Boyle's 47 wins.

However, if they continue scheduling out-of-state powerhouses like St. Edwards, then they will fall well short of the record. It is obvious now that St. Edwards is not the top team in Ohio, but had they actually been the top team in that state, would Boyle County have beaten them? Not likely, IMO, but regardless of whether Boyle County is better than any team in Ohio this season, that will rarely be the case going forward.

Same with Ohio football for the past 2 years. St. Edwards is tourist, but Massillon Washington #1.

Boyle County traveled many hours to
the tourist attraction and won soundly. I feel they'll win against any Ohio team, but I do understand what you are writing about in that scheduling the nation's powerhouses can possibly produce a loss and thus ending the winning streak.

The only reason for the Boyle - St. Edward game was played was because of Danville backing out of the game earlier this year, making it hard to find a replacement game.  St. Edward offered money for Boyle to come up and play them and they took them up on that.  Without a doubt Boyle doesn't care about playing the best in Ohio, just winning the Kentucky 4A Championship.  I don't look for Boyle to start playing out of state teams in the near future again.  St. Edward was the first time ever in the history of the school to travel outside the state of Kentucky for a game.

I want to say that this reply is where that should stop every argument in most threads, especially with the talented teams that people love to beat to death. Kids want to play, kids want to win. They’ll go where they can play, go where they can win or both. Winning at the rate Boyle does, people want to join the program. Haddix has created a fantastic product. Continue to get the kids, keep the staff and they’ll break the record. 

I am sure they’re aware of that number as a milestone.

Nowhere in my post did I complain about Boyle County's transfers, or even hint that I have a problem with their transfers. I can't say that Boyle does or does not recruit, but I don't believe that they need to recruit to attract top quality transfers.

There are rules regarding bonafide changes of address and rules that are in effect should be followed and the KHSAA should enforce them or scrap the rules. Reputable football programs do not hire football coaches based on whether they have football star sons or whether they can bring transfers from their old team with them.)

However, if they continue scheduling out-of-state powerhouses like St. Edwards, then they will fall well short of the record. It is obvious now that St. Edwards is not the top team in Ohio, but had they actually been the top team in that state, would Boyle County have beaten them? I brought up transfers because they have a direct bearing on Boyle's success and their prospects for breaking the win streak record. If Boyle got a normal number of transfers, they would still be a top contender for 4A state titles. Because of various factors, Boyle County has been and will probably continue to be an attractive alternative for great football players in the many mediocre football programs nearby. 

4A currently has 7 very good football teams that would have had a great shot at a state title in many past years. Boyle's transfers have transformed a very good team into a great team. I am not a Boyle fan, but it is very easy for me to believe that players transfer to play there without being actively recruited. I do hope that Boyle loses almost every game that they play, but that is because when I don't have a dog in a fight, I generally pull for the underdog.

All rankings, and anyone in Ohio or Kentucky knew the top two teams from each state was taking the field that day. it's clear today one team is the top. Boyle County. They didn't barely win the game; they flat out dominated it. On their home field and beat the refs as well. I watched it myself. Boyle didn't get flags in that one. Should have been some thrown and I will say if the right calls were made, St Edwards wouldn't have scored the last touchdown in the first half. Winning is not just getting transfers. If that was the case, then Corbin would have won the last 4 titles. It takes more than just transfers, it takes a team effort, eliminate DADDY BALL and work your hind end off and then the coaches have to put the right game plans together. All 4A teams have had transfers or kids who have extra years of eligibility. I'm for it if a player can get ruled eligible and the key here is eligible, the KHSAA has to rule every kid eligible even if the situation is favorable or in the eyes of an appeal. So if a team ultimately gets transfers then KHSAA knows all about it, the issues are not with the teams, its with the KHSAA.    

Boyle has a shot at a nice streak with the current team but I would also have to wonder if the other schools scheduled like Boyle has during this current streak. Boyle has played some teams I don't feel like would be on alot of other teams schedules. Trinity, I can see probably would play anyone anywhere. Rightfully so, being the most dominate team in KY for years. But here lately tell me when the last time you saw a 4A team ranked #1 over a 6A team? I'd like to know, I have never seen it and don't think it ever has happened.

It takes more than just transfers, it takes a team effort, eliminate DADDY BALL and work your hind end off and then the coaches have to put the right game plans together. All 4A teams have had transfers or kids who have extra years of eligibility. I'm for it if a player can get ruled eligible and the key here is eligible, the KHSAA has to rule every kid eligible even if the situation is favorable or in the eyes of an appeal. So if a team ultimately gets transfers then KHSAA knows all about it, the issues are not with the teams, its with the KHSAA.    

Boyle has a shot at a nice streak with the current team but I would also have to wonder if the other schools scheduled like Boyle has during this current streak. Boyle has played some teams I don't feel like would be on alot of other teams schedules. Trinity, I can see probably would play anyone anywhere. Rightfully so, being the most dominate team in KY for years. But here lately tell me when the last time you saw a 4A team ranked #1 over a 6A team? I'd like to know, I have never seen it and don't think it ever has happened. 

Polls are not foolproof. St. Edwards was ranked #1 in early season polls. If they were actually the best team in Ohio when they played Boyle County, then why did the wheels suddenly come off. St. Edwards is now 4-3 and Calpreps has them ranked at #7 in Ohio. The #1 team in Ohio is currently undefeated. My point is valid. If Boyle continues to schedule teams like St. Edwards, then eventually they will get matched up with the better team and the winning streak will end. I don't think that Boyle County cares about the streak, as long as they are improving and competing with the best teams in the area.

Corbin will always have trouble competing with Boyle County. Daddy ball is just a symptom of a corrupt program.

All rankings, and anyone in Ohio or Kentucky knew the top two teams from each state was taking the field that day. it's clear today one team is the top. Boyle County. They didn't barely win the game; they flat out dominated it. On their home field and beat the refs as well. I watched it myself. Boyle didn't get flags in that one. Should have been some thrown and I will say if the right calls were made, St Edwards wouldn't have scored the last touchdown in the first half. Winning is not just getting transfers.  Im glad you agree that St Edwards was Number 1 at the time Boyle played them. Thats all that matters. My point exactly. I can't explain why St. Edwards has taken a dip since the Boyle game. I know alot of teams do that after a Boyle loss....

St. Ed's has not taken a dip.

They are still ranked fifth in their region in the highest classification in OHSAA Football (Division I).

Additional losses are to Massillon Washington, the winningest program in OHSAA history with nine state championships and 953 victories -- by 10. Massillon's losses were to Bergen Catholic (N.J.) by 14 and DeMatha by 10 -- both national powers on a yearly basis who are nationally ranked year-in and year-out.

Then, to the famed Glenville of Ted Ginn, Sr. and Ted Ginn, Jr. -- by one point. Glenville has won the Division IV State Championship in back-to-back seasons and has gone 28-3 the last two years with one of those losses to IMG in 2023 at IMG.

Boyle County is a legit top-30 program in the country and I would still have them in the top-15. They can play with just about anybody in the nation.

If Boyle under Haddix continues to win this season. They will be on this list for sure this year. Then starting next year will determine how high they go. You obviously missed my point. Being ranked #1 in an early season poll and being the best team in the state are not the same thing. If St. Edwards wins the state title, then it would be a fair assumption to say that they will have proven themselves to be the best team in Ohio.

Beating St. Edwards convincingly on the road was a huge accomplishment. It just doesn't mean that Boyle County is better than any team in Ohio. They may be, but one win does not make it so.

Actually, people in north Ohio call the school St. Eds.

The week before the game against Boyle, this team had beaten, at the time, a national top 35 ranked St Joseph's Prep on their Pennsylvania home field by 2 touchdowns.

Then Boyle County showed up.

I know it is Lakewood St. Edward. They do call it St. Ed's in Northern Ohio -- coming from a guy who lives in Northeastern Kentucky and works at a university located in Southern Ohio that has landed student-athletes from the Cleveland area.
