Betsy Layne at Prestonsburg 9/27
#31
I think it will be a game of who wants it more. Prestonsburg has had a very tough schedule up to this point and will continue to have tough games. Betsy Layne has played no one as usual. Jarrell takes the easy way out and plays bums and Hagar came in facing a very tough lineup but both 5-0 so should be a fun one at Josh Francis Stadium.

I’m not sure who you’re saying is a tough game on PBurgs schedule. Leslie is 3-2 playing a bad schedule. Worst East ridge team in school history. Paintsville is 1-4. Lewis is winless and pike central doesn’t have much of a pulse either.

It’s a pretty easy schedule by any measure.

Betsy Layne hasn’t played a team close to Paintsville and Leslie County. Don’t get it twisted, especially you concerned_bobcat.

Do I believe that’ll play a role in this game Friday night? Doubt it.

I think Prestonsburg will be the most talented, fastest and most well coached team the Bobcats have seen so far. Betsy Layne will be the biggest and meanest team Prestonsburg has seen.

What Betsy Layne cannot do this game is have over 150+ yards in penalties like they did against FC. If they do, Prestonsburg will beat them by 2+ touchdowns. What Prestonsburg can’t do is turn the ball over 3 times like they did against Pike Central. If they do, they’ll lose this game by 2+ scores. Going into the PC game, Pburg only had 1 turnover on the season and I think they were +8 in the turnover margin.

It’s going to be a must watch game regardless. Both teams have a lot of talent and there’s a lot of bragging rights on the line for the rest of these seniors lives. Should make for an excellent game.

Hopefully weather clears up before Friday night.

Considering Betsy Layne's 2 wins last year were their first in 30+ years, very very lopsided I'd have to assume. Lol
That's the exact point I'm making....

With this being In-County rivalry game, the W/L record should be well known, regardless of how lopsided it may be.

Prestonsburg leads 29-3 if my calculations are correct.
Would a Betsy Layne win be the first time they've won AT Prestonsburg?

Betsy Layne by 2+ touchdowns. They won’t be able to stop the forces of Isom and Blackburn defensively.

WPRG, Mountain Top and WMDJ livestream and then also Q95 on the radio.

Thank you very much. Looks like everyone wanted to be on hand for this one. Won't be much room in the press box. I hope that is an indication as to what kind of game this is going to be.

Yes, the two wins last year were at Betsy Layne. On September 12, 1986 Betsy Layne won at home by a score of 12-8.

Will be a rock fight! First team with a FG wins.

Betsy Layne is better than Pburg. The Blackcats dont have anyone close to the athlete mcCutchen is nor Carter Parsons. Pbrug "thinks"" their back but the domination of Floyd County is long gone. BL is the team to beat in the county now. Should be a fun one

Dalton Elliot will be the best athlete on the field tomorrow.

This is how you know you are a scoreboard watcher and not actually watch the games. Prestonsburg has two athletes that are on par with him, if not better.

I'm as big of a Bobcat fan as you'll find and I can even say, the Blackcats have some very good athletes and Dalton Elliott might be one of the quickest kids in this part of the state.

Both teams have had an easy schedule so far. I don’t think either can rely on their strength of schedule as a reason why they should be better prepared.

Betsy Layne has a more experienced coach in a game that could be close, Experience matters I'll take the bobcats by 2 scores.

Overall, I agree with both schedules being weak, but Betsy Layne hasn't played a team with a "pulse". Do I think it will hurt them in this matchup, yes I do. The Bobcats will be able to adjust as the game goes on, but I look for them to possibly struggle early on with the speed of the game. I look for them to adjust quickly, but don't be surprised if Prestonsburg jumps on them early. I may be completely wrong, but a weak schedule will catch up with you one way or another. Either way, I look for this to be a great game, and hopefully a clean game both on the field and in the stands.

Go Blackcats…

I do have a question. BL has a boy on their team that was a starter for Pburg last year. Played and was a starter at Paintsville the year before that. 3rd different school in 3 years. How does one get eligible doing that? Also, does anyone think there will be some bad blood there? BL also has a lineman that started at Pburg last year.

KHSAA and transfer rules have never made sense and probably never will in all honesty. Don't know about bad blood but in these situations there usually isn't much love lost, but time will tell.

There is never any love lost when Betsy Layne and Pburg play.  I am a bit older, but I always said if Pburg and Russia were to play, I would be wearing a hammer and sicle.

The tension between Pburg and BL is nothing compared to what it use to be between us and Paintsville... I remember right after the rumble a buddy of mine who didn't even play sports walked into a gas station(in Johnson co) and was jumped by two Paintsville athletes, but sadly for them they jumped one of us dirt road hillbillys and he wore them both out...
I never even hated Paintsville but damn if they didn't love to hate us... Though I was not one of the typical Pburg athletes of the time, I was a farm boy from the middle of no-where and hell my own team mates did not treat me much better...

Two of our football players got jump by 5 Paintsville players in the Wal-Mart plaza in Paintsville my senior year.  The brawl finally ended when one of our players pulled a knife.  To be honest, I think our guys started the fight.

Yea I remember when the plaza was the go to place for a long time. Just one giant string of trucks/cars driving in a circle all night long. That and , the skating ring in East Point.
