Ashland Blazer at Greenup County 9/27

Greenup County vs Ashland Blazer. Thoughts?
#2
I think this game will be a lot closer than Ashland will like, but the Tomcats will be too much.
#3
GC keeps it close for a half and there is a path that gives them a win. Their defense is better than a lot think. That being said, can their defense keep Ashland in check for 4 quarters. I don’t think so.

Ashland 42-14

Ashland wins going away. 42-14

I will be pulling for Greenup County but the race for the district title will probably be decided when Ashland hosts Johnson Central. I would love to see a three-way race for a change.

I like what’s happening at Greenup. I’m going to make my Raceland friends mad but I believe they are the best team in Greenup County. I just don’t think my Rams could score enough to keep up with them. Ashland will have trouble stopping Greenup but the Tomcat speed will enable them to score just enough. This one is a barn burner out on the farm but Ashland wins 28-20.

I really hope you're right. I don't expect Greenup to win, but they have earned the respect of more people each week. Giving Ashland a game will definitely earn them even more.

Been talking to some very knowledgeable GC fans and they are pumped. The program has been mediocre for so long but even during that time period fans stuck with their team. This game is their chance to make a huge leap and they are ravenous right now. To add to this a natural surface getting a lot of rain this week only shifts another variable in their favor. I hate to make a "Rocky" analogy but all of Greenup County, whether students, faculty, parents, players or the average fan, all have the "Eye of the Tiger". This is normally not a game Ashland circles on their schedule and with Clubber Lang waiting for the Ashland bus to arrive the Tomcats better be prepared physically and mentally or this could very well be a night to remember for Greenup County. I'm still picking Ashland but I'm a little less confident.

This rain definitely levels the playing field in this game. Assland hasn’t ran the ball very well all year! Can they come up with a running game overnight?? This will be a fun score to watch. I hope Greenup pulls off the upset. Those kids deserve it.

I agree I’ll be cheering for Greenup as well.  Win or lose I think they will play well with Ashland and it should be a good game.  I really like what coach Jones has done with rebuilding the program there and creating a good culture.

This one could be an interesting game. No outcome would shock me. This district is more balanced than ever but until somebody other than Johnson Central and Ashland win or play for the district title, it will remain a two-team race. This is a great shot for Greenup County to prove that it is a true contender. Hopefully, they will prove it by beating Ashland and not Johnson Central.

It’s not Greenup county anymore. It’s Orange County now. We’ll never know if they are the best team because there sissy asses won’t play us anymore along with all the other sissy ass teams in this area except Assland. The Mouseketeers are exactly what they were last year. A one man team. Stop one guy and you win.

Well there she is!! I was wondering how long it would take her to climb out from under Marty’s dugout. Don’t worry yourself with all the scrubs at GC. We know we can’t compete with the Tristate Lambs!!! You guys are just too good for a homegrown team!!!!!
But from what I’m hearing, you guys have enough to worry about in Lambland with the QB1 controversy. Sounds like I’d fix that before I would fool with casting shade on teams that try to do it the old school way!!!

No controversy in South Orange County. Other than having to pick up a last minute JV game with Rock Hill bc the Mouseketeers weren’t allowed to play us after scheduling a game to begin with. It’s crap though that GC and Russell couldn’t continue a series that was beneficial to everyone involved. But I digress…this thread is about GC and Ashland. Greenup called down the rain gods and will still probably have the sprinklers on a mock 10 to try and negate the Ashland speed. Weather plays into GCs favor for sure. Ground and pound vs a team that’s struggled to run the ball consistently. Goina be a nasty field Friday. Really could change the completion of the game all together.

And right on cue Mr irrelevant has nothing to say. What Qb controversy? One guy will emerge and the other will play somewhere else. Simple as that. And if we have the best players in the tri-state we should probably broaden our recruiting territory because we need to get players good enough to beat Pikeville. Oh wait……we don’t because we don’t recruit. It’s just the idiots who think we do.

If you claim to not be employed by the school, not be a coach, or not be on the sideline....then I'm curious how you can be so sure?

Also, nice job hijacking a thread about Greenup and Ashland....

I find it amusing how all we heard from 2017-2022 was how it was such a waste of time to play GC and Russell, for the Lambs. How they got absolutely nothing out of those games and they should drop them to find better competition.
Well now they they got their wish, same people belly aching that it’s a shame we don’t play!!!!
Make up your minds

Back to the actual football game, if it rains Friday and the field is wet I think that gives Ashland an advantage. Greenup plays a track meet style offense and a wet field doesn’t help when your main weapon is speed. Greenup’s defense has been suspect at times this year as well and I think they will have problems slowing down Ashland’s running game. That being said I think this is a winnable game for Greenup but to be able to pull it off will require limiting mental errors and finding ways to keep Ashland’s offense off the field.

NOT! personally I hope we don’t play any of them ever again. It’s made us a better program and better team. Get rid of the districts so we aren’t forced to play the RPI killing scareview beagles!
