Ugly game by both felt like both had a lot left on the table. Rock had some big play that was wiped away by sencless penalties and two fumbles. Paris line and dropped passed killed them. Also Paris final drive was a cluster. Final four minutes took 40 minutes to play. Glad Rock came out with the win. Big test next week with clay

Close game. Rock will now drop Paris and make calls to Jenkins and Phelps for next year...

Good game to watch. Rock defense played great. It was a good test for rocks defense Paris had a lot of speed on the field rock done a good job holding them. Rock offense made some mistakes that almost cost them the game. But I really liked the style offense they run tonight. Good ole smash mouth football. They was having a lot of trouble getting the plays called getting out of the huddle and getting the ball snap before delay of game was called. Also noticed some times that there was some confusion in the offensive huddle with where players needed to be lined up in certain formations. I'm confident coach larky will get this lined out this week in practice they haven't really been running this style of offense consistently all year but the more they practice it the more they play it at game speed the more smooth and discipline their offense will become. Great game tonight rock.

This was a good old fashion banger type of game. A lot to like by both defenses however a lot to clean up on the offense side of things. Rock will be happy to try and do those things since they pulled out the W. The entire flow of the game was disrupted especially the second half with all the wild and crazy things going on by both teams. Side line warnings for both teams a lot of chirping back and forth and un sportsman like penalties that would drive a coach insane! Game took what seemed like forever to play out even tho a lot of the game was on the ground. Paris has several athletes and plenty of weapons but Rock’s overall team defense was quick enough to contain all the big plays and kept enough pressure on the QB to disrupt the flow of Paris speed. Rock defense will carry them hopefully on a deep run come playoffs. Now the real season begins as Rock will travel to 4-0 Clay County next week for first game of district play! Let the second half of the season begin! Also congrats on Chris Larkey’s 100th win as a head coach!

What’s your point we already listened to all this last year and still won district while beating Bell at log mountain and had we won the game last year at Paris we would have took Bells path and went to state last year. The schedule was always going to be the same again this year as it was 2 year agreements right now the ball is on Rocks side of 50 and as long as they can keep winning should remain good in the RPI. The RPI is really important come playoff time so must not be all that dumb what Rock is doing.

Not the outcome I envisioned , but for Paris to play with and almost beat the #1 team in 3A, shows 1A is up in the air.

Not even close. CAL runs 3A. Rock top 5 possibly but not on that level yet. Super proud of our guys, but we still have a lot to fix. ceiling is super high. RPI rankings is how well you opponents are doing can be a bit misleading.

And don't kid yourself Paris is not the #1 team in 1A. The score showed a close game but it very easily could have been 7 to 28 game. Rock easily was able to keep them from scoring. Rock was very successful at running the ball against Paris defense. Rock made a lot of offensive mistakes. If you take three of the mistakes away it would have 7 to 28.

That’s freaking hilarious!!! Paris won’t even win their district and/or make it past the second or MAYBE the regional round in the playoffs. They were so much better than Raceland last year they all went to a concert the night before the game. That game went over like a fart in a diving helmet for the Greyhounds. Just bc Pikeville and Raceland are low on the RPI and their records are horrid…don’t get your hopes up.
Worst team on the combined Raceland and Pikevilles schedule is probably Letcher County. They would beat both Rock and Paris by 2-3 scores.

But it’s a mute point as they don’t play each other. I do think it would be a close game and could go either way. Cal preps score predictor says same Rock 26 Letcher 20 meaning pretty even teams.

“We just took the number #1 ranked 3A team down to the wire for the second year in a row. Lots of missed opportunities but I’m proud of my guys”
That was from our Head Coach himself. I would tend to believe him than disgruntled fans. 1A is wide open, Paris will be right there.

I don't like the RPI system. But the biggest contributors to rock having the highest RPI is 3-2 5A school and 3-1 4A school. just beating 1A talk is just nonsense.

If your salty just say your salty if your mad bc your team RPI isn’t what you think it should be then keep complaining… us here at Rock really don’t care what you think or have to say about what our schedule looks like at the end of the day only 1 team in each class system is going to be happy at the end of the year and the rest will be here doing what your doing complaining and griping. If you know why our schedule is the way that it is then by all means say so. At the end of the day we still won’t care and we will go out and play the next game while you and every one else are still hating. I hope next year we play every 1A or 2A team out there and beat them by 50. Bc outside of the RPI none of those games matter they are meant to be winnable games and get your team to play together as a team and get ready for district play as healthy as you can be. District and playoffs are what matter. Go back and look at a the teams we played when we went to state back to back years everyone complained back then to oh Rock schedule is this or it was that and regardless we still made it to state. All you can do is play the next team and that’s what we are going to do. Next up 4-0 Clay county.

There was a time when playing 3 1-A teams may have still resulted in 1-2 or 2-1 record. The first winning season of the OG Tom Larkey included a win over Jellico and losses to Lynn Camp and Williamsburg. but began the movement toward prominence.(09-22-2024, 02:56 AM)SmashMouth17 Wrote:Looks like a nerve has been struck, no one is salty just pointing out the obvious.
