Pikeville at Raceland 9/13
#61
Raceland is too young this year, but in the next few years, watch out. Multiple sophomores start on both sides of the ball and juniors, very thin with senior talent.
With that being said, Pikeville should be able to control the game but the Rams may be able to keep it somewhat close if they open up the offense and get creative and stay disciplined on defense. They will need some help with turnovers or penalties to keep it close.
I can see Pikeville 28-14 in this one without Anthony. Pikeville is hungry and knows if they don’t win this one, a 0-6 start could be a very real thing.

Hearing through the grapevine that Raceland is wearing black tonight because they said it was Pikevilles funeral….. So gotta love that confidence

Lack of confidence is never the reason Pikeville beats them

Raceland to me is farther ahead than what I thought they would be defensively. Raceland leaned on the ground game against Letcher and I think they will need to try to do it again against Pikeville.  Pikeville has been road warriors so far in the first 3 games, and will be on the road again this week as well. After this road game they will be at home for a month. 2 home games and 2 Bye weeks. Unless Pikeville has picked up a 10th game.
I heard he was saving himself for Belfry next week. Panthers still on top with or without him.

Panthers 36
Rams 24

Even if lundy and walls BOTH came back panthers are gonna beat the snot out of raceland. Even if #35 IS saving his strength for belfry it doesn’t matter. Pikevilles taking the W. Raceland in comparison to the ‘vile are just a bunch of babies sucking on their skibidi thumbs waiting for daddy Lundy to come back.

If they're wearing black, then that's a sad occasion for them. Pikeville can bring bereavement flowers for them. Ha ha!

Letcher did not impress me against bell county, and i was expecting a tight hard fought game when i seen how they almost knocked off Raceland on the road. That really made me dismiss raceland. This is the easiest game on pikevilles schedule until the third week of october, But this game defines pikeville’s season. If they don’t win this one, Campbellsville is your 1A state champ. Pikeville has better players nearly at every position, and should be able to run right over them. But if they don’t, i hate to say it’s 0-6 to start which is a mental hurdle more than anything.

Not so fast my friend!!!!!!!!!

Pikeville is always 2-3 TDs better by Thanksgiving. I don't care if Pikeville is 0-6 (they won't be), knocking them out of the playoffs will be a completely different animal!

Campbellsville hasn't played anyone with a pulse yet, of course they look good.

Per Calpreps:
Pikeville schedule strength 18.7. So average opponent is ranked 18th overall in KY.
Campbellsville schedule strength -33.2. Average opponent is ranked 157th overall in KY.

Put another way, the average team Pikeville has faced so far is 51.9 points better than teams Campbellsville has faced.

My huge sack of money is still on Pikeville.

While I agree it could be tough mentally for a team to start 0-6 or whatever their regular season record ends up, I don’t care what Pikeville’s record is going into the playoffs, good luck beating them in 1A. If they lose today or any of their last 3 games, there will be blood in the water but I’m not so sure they don’t just use it as bait.

With the loss of a front line like pikeville lost to graduation, if they cannot beat up on Raceland that could barely squeak by Letcher at home… I do not see them being able to go to Campbellsville like they did last year and get a win. now I would be on your side of things if it was not raceland. Now penalty’s aside, raceland is not in the same stratosphere as campbellsville when it comes to athletes and ability in 2024. You can’t tell me you didn’t go down there last year in the playoffs and leave thinking that the eagles weren’t the best comp for pikeville in 1A.
If racelands defense blows up that line, which they shouldn’t but let’s say they do, wouldn’t you be worried?

Yes if Pikeville doesn't show that they are significantly better than Raceland tonight I'm going to begin to think that maybe they don't have it this year. And Campbellsville is very good but Pikeville dominated 3 1/2 quarters of that game and Campbellsville lost a lot off of that team as well. But Class A is a horse race with more good and improved teams this year.

^^^i think this is spot on. I think this is the best 1A has been in awhile. And the good news is, alot of these teams on the upswing are young.

Fake news

Pikeville 3rd and 1 on the 49, snap it back 5 yards, gain 3/4 yard. 4th and inches right at the 50, punt. Atrocious.
#79
1st team to score may win this. Probably have to be a defensive score though lol...
#80
This Pikeville offensive scheme is really really bad. That is all.
#81
Catching a punt in the air isn't in the plan either.
#82
This has all the makings of another 7-6 game
#83
Pikeville determined to run the play Raceland stops best 50 times in this game, up the middle.
#84
7-6 still in play.
#85
ANTHONY IN
#86
The two punters are the stars of the game
#87
The world famous phantom 15 yarder
#88
Don't know why Raceland didn't take a shot there
#89
Broadcast is top notch in a pretty vanilla game
#90
This game has to give some of the bubble teams in Class A some hope. Obvioisly Pikeville has been the standard but both these teams have been the top teams in Class A for several years and neither team looks very good right now.
