With Johnson & Moreno both committed for next season, plus with Perry & Noah on the roster (barring any transfers), the last time Kentucky had 4 in-state players was back in 2016-2017, the Monk & Fox team.
Dominique Hawkins (Richmond, Ky)
Derek Willis (Mt. Washington, Ky)
Brad Calipari (Lexington, Ky) technically wasn't from Kentucky.
Dillon Pulliam (Cynthiana, Ky)
Now only Hawkins & Willis seen any significant playing time.
Haven't been many other instances the last 20-25 years were there have been that many in-state players. The talent is there, and always has been. So glad to see Coach Pope and his staff utilize that talent and keeping them here. These are obviously 2 great coops for Pope to get for next season, 2 highly ranked recruits and the 2 best players in the State (even tho Johnson is playing w/ OT Elite). Pope sure has done some great things in the 5 months of being head coach, not only putting together a solid team for this season, but looking ahead to the future and establishing a new culture of Kentucky Basketball.
