Belfry at Johnson Central 9/6
#1
Belfry at Johnson Central. Thoughts?
#2
Im going with J.C. Its about time to put some respect on their names as they could easily be the king of the mountains by the end of the regular season.
#3
Going with Johnson Central but this game will be a fast game both teams just line up and pound you and Johnson Central Defense is better than Belfry’s
#4
Johnson Central will be tough to stop. The way their backs were hitting the holes against pikeville, belfry’s defense better be on point.
#5
Toss up…the team with less turnovers wins
#6
Belfry will again put some points on the board but will struggle to stop ground game of JC. JC wins by 14+
#7
This will be a battle I’m going belfry
#8
Eagles!!!!
#9
JC will win easily in this one.

JC 40
Belfry 14
#10
If McCourt and the line comes out and plays this week like they did against Pikeville they will run all over Belfry. D line and linebackers also looked like a different team this week. JC will be too much for Belfry. All they have to do is not reinvent the wheel and do what works.

Taking JC because I think if they play like they did against Pikeville, they win. They won’t dominate Belfry like they did Pikeville up front but I still think they can consistently move the ball. My only worry is they may have a hangover after the Pike County Bowl win but they should have plenty of motivation looking back on their beating at the hands of the Pirates last year. Very curious about this one.
#12
If they can avoid turnovers that are often a great equalizer then JC I think will be too much for Belfry. I’m taking JC by 2+ scores

This one will go by quickly. Jc won’t dominate the belfry o line like they did Pikevilles but if they give that effort again I’d choose JC in a close one.

Woah I have to ask. I thought Pikeville brought back the lineman they had last season. If that is the case, didnt Pikeville win big last season?

JC will dominate Belfry's line. Belfry will have to play mistake free football to stay in this game. I'll take JC by 14.

o-line is improved at belfry. I think Pikeville lost at least 1 lineman from last year.

A team with a big, strong d-line will present problems for Johnson Central by forcing them out of their comfort zone. I'm not sure Belfry is that team. They will have to hope for penalties or mistakes to put JC in 3rd and long situations. That won't happen quite enough. JC by a TD.
#19
Will Belfry come out and throw a little? Some short quick routes and screens would work. When Pikeville did this they were moving the ball (aside from when they kept shooting themselves in the foot with bad snaps). Seemed to be effective for Pikeville but don’t know if Belfry receivers can catch the ball. Had several drops in both games played (belfry). Qb hit receiver in chest on what I think was a big 3rd down play and he couldn’t make the play.

Yes they did. Gavin Fultz, Jay Mcnamee, and Jacob (Red) Wilkerson. All contributed greatly with experience.

That no doubt is hard to replace. Thanks for the update. I love the game within the game. Lineman play have become a favorite part of film watching for me. I love seeing the blocks that make it all happen. On both sides of the ball too.

This one will be interesting to say the least.

JC coming off a dominating performance and Belfry coming off a complete 4th quarter collapse.

This is one of those games that should only help Belfry moving forward. Strong team like JC will wear on the Pirates. Belfry completely ran out of gas late against GRC. Finding quality depth will be vital as Belfry moves thru the season( not sure it’s there at this point). These are the games that you’re gonna need some help in the trenches off the bench.

Belfry certainly has more problems at this stage( special teams play, DL depth and Secondary play )…..but they also have more room to grow. JC has a three headed monster in the backfield which will really test Belfry’s LB ‘s

If Belfry can run the ball….and stay out of the pistol set….they can make this game interesting. The coaching staff needs to do a little soul searching and improve their play calling. They struggled getting into a natural flow in the 2nd half.

if the running game for the Pirates get shut down….gonna be a long night in Paintsville.

I wouldn’t count Belfry out….but JC has to be the prohibitive favorite and rightly so.

Johnson Central has look good last week but Belfry will get the win . They always do a lot better when there underdog. But it be heck of game.
#25
Let’s go Belfry hope I’m wrong on my prediction in a high scoring game.

Johnson Central 52
Belfry 41

This series has gone back and forth over the years.  Kinda been a hard game to pick. Much respect for Belfry.  This game has really helped JCs program over the years.  Believe it's been beneficial for both teams.
I'll pick JC winning by a TD in a tough, close game.
#27
Going to go with JC in this one. They are going to hit on all cylinders.

JC: 21
Belfry: 12
#28
didnt belfry play a crappy 2nd half against johnson central last year too?
#29
JC gets a big win Friday night!

JC 35
Belfry 21

Honest opinion and I could be wrong here, but GRC's line is far from dominant and they moved the ball at will against Belfry. JC's line handled Pikeville's pretty well. To me unless Pikeville is much worse than what they're leading on and not in the same ball park as last year, JC wins this game easily. The great news for Belfry fans is that you don't have to worry about a running clock when these 2 play, the entire game is a running clock.

JC 35-7
