One of the biggest rivalries in the state in going down this Saturday in Bowling Green as the Colonels invade Jimmy Felix Field to take on the Goat Toppers.  Western leads the all-time series 48-35 with there being 3 ties.  Eastern holds a 22-15-2 advantage in Richmond.  These two teams first met in 1917 with the good guys winning 36-6.  They last met in 2017 with Western getting a 31-17 win.  Eastern last beat the Goat Toppers in 2006 by the score of 26-21.

I'm a big EKU fan. My alma mater. Was there when we won two national titles in football with Corbin's Roy Kidd and Steve Bird and Pineville's, Tuck Woolum.  Some of the best times I can remember. Miss those days.

Rumor has it Western fired the first shot when they blocked EKU from going FBS to Conference USA so, you are going to have a bunch of ticked off Colonels too.

One my all-times too, Jet. Really hits hard these days.  I saw Eddie in downtown Corbin at our festival a few years before he died. Told him this was my favorite song of his. He said that song hits home for so many because we all reach that point in life  where we wish we could go back and do it all again. It came a hellacious storm after he'd  sung six or seven songs on his set list.  This was one of them. He had no choice but to end his show. He told everyone that he'd come back sometime and do the concert again , free of charge. He was never able to make it back.  He got sick and died a a few years later. Seemed like a genuinely good guy. Fine musician and entertainer.

UK grad, but going to Richmond on Thursday nights was big with UK students when I was there. Did that several times and always had a blast. And remember the Roy Kidd era well.
