Is Covington Catholic a bit high after being beaten by Highlands and now sitting 0-2? Other than that, it looks pretty good.
The question is will Boyle drop if/when they get drilled by the Ohio team?

Covington Catholic is still a threat to the 2-6 teams in Class 4A in my opinion. When you look at the body of work for them, they play what is now considered a top 4 Class 5A team, A top 10 Class 6A team and 3 teams in the top 25 when you include Beechwood. Now Covington Catholic may lose all 3 of the big games and Simon Kenton who is top 10 6A team. So really 4 tuff teams on the early schedule. Now last year CC ran the table and was the 1 RPI overall. So this year of course after graduation, they weren't expected to do what they did last year. So, playing these teams tuff and beating some, you still have to put them where they are. When you look at any of the remaining Class 4A teams and project a matchup, Covington Catholic is still in that top 7 teams. The question is who would you put above them? As for Boyle, they haven't lost a game yet. I plan on watching that game if its streamed. I heard ST. EDWARDS stream their games. But who in Kentucky even with a loss would beat Boyle? Only 3 teams with a fighting chance are the top 3 6A teams being Trinity, ST. X, Frederick Douglass. So honestly, right now, I don't see Boyle dropping from the overall number 1 spot in the top 25. Boyle and Corbin have a common opponent being Frederick Douglass. We should know by seasons end where everyone is at honestly.

Boyle is going to play a team that should win. Boyle is playing on the could win portion. Games like this one will be what makes them better.
I don’t care if they get beat by 40, they don’t drop.

Cov. Cath very dangerous and a win over Highlands will always count for something.

Paducah Tilghman is a serious threat for Boyle this year. As long as they stay healthy, I favor them in a matchup. Boyle is Boyle though, and that’s why I’m not flat out saying it is PT’s championship to lose. However, they have the talent to beat any team in the state. Just a matter of them staying disciplined and healthy.

My question for Paducah believers, do they play sound and physical defense vs teams that can really play at a high level? That is where Boyle has always been better than other teams that come along..... They score, but they also play defense better than everyone else. Usually teams that come along to challenge them are lacking on one side of the ball..

Boyle may or may not have the athleticism that PT has but they will make up for it by tackling, pursuit angles, motors and scheme. On offense, they will win the LOS most plays and move the chains. Then you have 4-5 guys you have to stop on the outside. Quissenberry, Seneca Driver, Mauri Brown, Geo Brown. Quissenberry is the best and most explosive player in the state of KY, it’s not close imo.
I agree with this top 10 as well. Could make the case for Corbin being 1 spot higher. As well as Johnson Central being one spot higher.
But I believe this past week showed Boyle is undisputed #1 team in the class. They put a running clock in the 2nd qtr on the team that played for a 6a title in 2023.

Good point. The elite teams can do both-score and play tight defense. It seems that Boyle does both well. Corbin has a lot of very lethal weapons on offense. As the season progresses, they are only gonna get better and better on that side of the ball. Corbin can score with the best of them, make no mistake. But, unlike last season, when they were super elite, they were strong on defense. This Corbin team can't stop a cold, at least not yet. Championship caliber teams can score AND defend at an elite level.

Corbin is still gonna roll out one of the most talented teams in the state every friday. I am sure there is some growing pains.. but fact remains they are big, fast, physical,

I am giving Ashland that spot above Johnson Central for now knowing both teams will decide that spot before long. I watched the game streamed last year and Ashland was offensively as good as Johnson Central. I don't know if JC was healthy or still had some players out when that game was played. So that plays into the outcomes as we all know. But if Ashland can find some defense and that was the only thing, I saw that held them back last season and maybe Ashland may have won that game last year. But Johnson Central when healthy is hard to deal with. Johnson Central no doubt may be better than where they are at currently.
Corbin will probably be the #2 team behind Boyle by seasons end in my opinion. Why? The offense. Kid Elam is in beast mode.

If there is one thing that you would want as a team is a QB like Kid Elam, he is threading the needle and before the season, I thought all Corbin's games would be won by high scoring affairs. But the Corbin defense is holding its own. JC gave up 2 tds to Pikeville and Corbin only gave up 1 passing TD to Pikeville. Honestly, I had rather give up the 1 passing td to a heavy run team and hold them to no scores on the ground. The Corbin offense has been impressive, and I see weapons everywhere, so Paducah Tilghman may not be the overwhelming #2 team as I first thought. I look for Corbin to make a case for the 2 spot by seasons end. I'll get into that down the road. But for now, I like them in the 3 spot. But they may be the #2 team. We will find out soon enough. Frederick Douglass and Johnson Central games will tell all. Paducah Tilghman's toughest regular season contest in this weekend against Mayfield.

PT will likely be the Cov Cath of last season in that they could have the highest RPI since they will go undefeated. Corbin and Boyle will battle it out for #2 , 3, and 4 spots in the RPI. Who will be 2 thru 4??? Boyle will lose once(possibly twice). Corbin will likely lose once(possibly twice).
Bull, you are obviously a big Kid Elam fan. What would you say to the folks on here over the spring and summer who question whether Elam was a legitimate top 10 QB.

Kade Elam is the top QB in the Bluegrass State in my opinion. I have watched film on all of them. I like Elam. Now that I have heard that Corbin's offense is allowing Elam to react to what he sees on the field defense wise and make throws to the open receiver Corbin is that much more dangerous offensively.
Well no way to know what RPI will do. Where CC, Ashland and JC, and JC and Corbin all play each other, it comes down really to those games. Thats what will seed them. If Corbin beat JC this season and I believe they will, then Corbin and Boyle will not see each other till Kroger Field. Im not Sure Paducah Tilghman will be the overall Number 1 myself. Franklin County will go undefeated as well. I think this year it won't matter much because no matter who is 1-4 in the RPI, its most likely going to be Pt, FD, Boyle and Corbin. CC, Ashland, JC will have their say in it but they have to win the games that matter. If the 2 unbeatens are PT and FC, then Boyle and Corbin will be the 2 and 3 in the East most likely from what I see at this point. All that is is home field for the 4th round game and by that time, all teams if injury free should be hitting on all cylinders. Nice games for 4A in November and December.

List looks good to me.
I like that JC is playing 2 of the teams on the list during regular season. Definitely help to have them ready for the playoffs.
JC and Corbin has turned into a good rivalry, since they first met.
The JC vs Ashland is a old rivalry renewed.
