Prestonsburg 49, East Ridge 6
#1
First game of PCB. Excruciating game to watch. Then at the end of the game with a running clock, Prestonsburg calls a timeout on 4th down with ER getting ready to score, holds and then punches one in themselves instead of taking a knee and letting the clock run out and even kicks the extra point. Totally classless, P'burg staff should be ashamed and their fans should be embarrassed.

I just now saw where prestonsburg had a 96 yard run with less than 2 minutes left. He jumped out of bounds before the touchdown to give one of there lineman a chance for a touchdown!! Called the "thundering Herd"

Class is no longer associated with Blackcat football. You’re playing one of the worst East Ridge teams in the schools history and you’re burning timeouts to save a touchdown during a running clock and then having your best player carry the ball after the stop is embarrassing to the community and school.

^I was rooting for the Blackcats until today happened.

The team wanted one of the more popular guys in the locker room to have the opportunity to score. He scored and he will forever remember that as long as he lives. Happy for the kid! No one was trying to run up the score.

And there it is lol...you knew it was coming

Please, every single person knows better.

The timeout, the TD and the XP were all low rent as it gets in HS football. And there is no explaining it away. "But the kid is popular"
LOL. SMDH.

I hate to disagree with the all knowing BlackcatAlum but if you’re calling timeouts in a 42-6 running clock ball game and leaving Elliott in. You’re running up the score.

Everybody knows. It's an even worse look to be on board with it and try to defend it.

Not really much to say after this game.

Happy that the Blackcats won... wasn't thrilled with how the game went. Rough game to watch at times and there's a lot Prestonsburg needs to still work on and clean up. Thankfully Adams and Stumbo will be back this week. That should help in many ways.

Congrats Blackcats!

It’s game 2 under a new administration. An opportunity to work on defensive goal line situation. And we’re complaining about an extra point attempt? You rather they go for 2? Jesus Christ. Quit being soft. It’s not like this was an 80 point game. Maybe you don’t let Elliott gain 96 yards? There’s a big game with Paintsville looming next week. These early games are opportunities to work on things against opponents instead of second string guys. Don’t see the issue.

Please God make it stop. If you are calling time outs and wanting more reps at the goal line vs East Ridge with a running clock you need to just fold your program. Weak sauce

Or if you’re having to drop to a knee midways through the 3rd quarter to keep from “running up the score”,  maybe the team you’re playing against should fold their program? Prestonsburg isn’t deep. They don’t get many high level reps. Early in a season, you take whatever opportunity you get to work on things. Really couldn’t care less who disapproves. Don’t like it, don’t watch.

Nice try but I'm talking about the end if the 4th with running clock. I know you don't care and it tells me all I need to know. And I can't stop watching sports just to try to shield myself from turdlike behavior. I said staff "should" be ashamed and fans "should" be embarrassed. I should have known they wouldn't be. Some things never change...

^^^Then you obviously have never heard of taking a knee or not calling timeouts to stop the clock up by 40. Or even the concept of having your best player in the game and feeding him the ball down to the last play. Nah, he just needed some extra reps lol

The quality of “work” you got in this game would not prepare you the way you’re acting like it would. Many of prestonsburgs second stringers would start at ER.

If they came out and ran a true 2 minute drill with Holbrook throwing the ball, practicing throwing it toward the sideline and getting out of bounds to stop the clock I would believe that it was about work. But they didn’t.

It wasn’t about working on this or that. It was about running the score up and trying to make it seem like they’re better than the previous staff and that Blackcat football is “back”.

If you truly believe this way, I don’t want to hear anything when it happens to Pburg. Breathitt, Martin or BL starts running it up, “stop them from running 94 yards” better be the response. Not “they’re classless and running it up on our poor babies”

And they very well may be a better staff BUT this isn’t how you prove that stuff.

Some of you are just overdramatizing this big time.

No one on the Prestonsburg sideline was trying to prove anything or attempting to run the score up. I know Jet & complaining_Blackcat won’t see it that way, that’s fine. I’m not going to try and convince you two otherwise.

Good job Pburg. Reading through this thread it’s obvious there are people that want to see this team fail.

Just gonna say this.  Prestonsburg got killed nearly every game last year. I’m glad they are putting points up.  Not a single person on here downed Matney when JJ Jude was running for 400 yards and still carrying the ball up 40.

Yep…. All I heard before the season was Hager was a joke of a hire.  They wouldn’t win 2 games. Should’ve hired so and so. Blah blah blah.  Now they have won the first 2 games and one in a blowout and now they are classless?  Make it make sense.  The same people that were butthurt over the hire are butthurt for the spanking they gave another team.  Some of you pburg fans are giving the school a bad look. A lot of ohio state fans and bama fans cheer like crazy when their team beats lesser opponents by 50 plus but it’s horrible of a high school team to do it?   You know what?   I bet there isn’t a team left on their schedule that will beat them like that and who cares?   You dish em out you gotta take em.  Quit your whining….

Prestonsburg will a lot of games because straight up there isn't one good team on their schedule. But when (if) they play a real good Class 2A team in the playoffs they will be looking at 55-0 a la Martin Co. last year.

some of you pburg fans are awful. I guess mommy and daddy don't have a say so in who starts anymore. U guys are a joke..

I'm proud of Wesley and his staff.. u guys will be surprised if he rolls out 4 or 5 winns in a row heading into district play with all the momentum.

IMO the district is wide open this year. I think Martin has the highest ceiling but has a long way to go. But I think it still goes through them but if pburg gets hot they can win it

Prestonsburg won big, but if you took the backs ends and linebackers out of the picture, and just focus on the down linemen, it’s a different outcome. East Ridge consistently won the trench battle when they were on offense. The Blackcat linemen were standing up looking around, I guess hoping that a backer or safety would make the play. On offense the blackcats came off the ball well but did not stay on their blocks. If this isn’t fixed soon, they are in deep trouble. Happy they got the win.

Prestonsburg linemen are getting better. I mean between the 5 that have started these first two games, you only had one linemen with varsity experience coming into the season. You get your most experienced linemen back this week who started every game last season and is 6’5 280lbs. That’s going to help in a lot of ways.

Defensive line is probably the biggest area of concern. Not many hogs you can throw out there right now to clog up things. The ones you do have are freshman and I think they’re doing their best, all things considered.

I think these guys are getting better with every rep. Trust me, the coaches stay after them and they’re putting in the work.

No one left there thinking P Burg was running up the score. It’s tough to read comments on here anymore. P burg boys have a new coach and have busted their tails to get ready for season. They’ve won their first two games and after BOTH games they’ve had grown ups on here whining and complaining.  I get it that the main person who found offense with this “running up the score” may be frustrated because his team is 0-2 but that’s no reason to rag on another program. Congrats to the Panthers on the win, now go get ready for next Friday!
