Black cats should start off 2-0. Great start for the new coach. Love to see them come out next week and get a big win over Paintsville.

Prestonsburg wins big. A great opportunity to work on timing in the passing game.

On paper this is a game Prestonsburg should win comfortably, but East Ridge plays a unique brand of football and they're well coached. They're going to want to eat up clock and keep Prestonsburg's playmakers on the sidelines. Prestonsburg defensive line and linebackers will need to be ready and be aware of who has the ball to get stops. They can't allow a bunch of 10-12 play drives that take 6+ minutes off the clock. If they do, they'll find themselves in a dog fight.
Ideally, I'm sure the Prestonsburg coaches would like to work on a few things offensively and get some of the JV guys some reps in the second half, but only way that happens is if the varsity guys come prepared and ready to play. I agree also with "hawg laig", on working on the timing in the passing game. The passing game needs work if Prestonsburg wants to have a shot at winning district and competiting in the playoffs. It starts with the quarterback trusting his teammates. Prestonsburg's offense is going to get guys in 1v1 situations and Holbrook needs to get the ball out early and downfield to allow guys like Patton, Allen, Harris, Elliott, etc opportunities to just go and make a play.
Hoping Prestonsburg rolls into Pikeville Saturday night and has a really good showing in front of a full stadium and everyone watching live on WYMT. Another cool opportunity for the Blackcat football program to play two weeks in a row on live on WYMT.
As for my prediction... If Pburg can hit on the few deep balls and the rushing attack continues to look good then Pburg wins by a running clock. If Pburg comes in overlooking ER and the Warriors are able to eat up clock, Pburg still wins, but it'll be something like 28-8.
Go Blackcats!

I think Prestonsburg takes care of business in this game. East Ridge has had some dynamic playmaker over the past couple of years that gave us fits, but I don't see that type of player on this years roster. The main thing is to get out of this game injury free with a win, and start preparing for a big game against Paintsville. Hail Blackcats!

What does East Ridge run on offense?

(08-27-2024, 08:33 PM)ROTC Wrote: What does East Ridge run on offense? For the most part it’s a heavy package with 3 or 4 potential rushers in the backfield and 2 of them pretty much rotate taking snaps. There’s really no QB. The linemen’s splits are foot to foot to basically create log jam in hopes of getting enough push to keep the chains moving and the clock rolling. East Ridge started running this offense late last season and it kept them in some games, but eventually they wore down and the more talented teams pulled away late. With a playmaker like Isaiah Adkins it was tough to defend at times because he was a heckuva player with excellent speed and toughness, however ER doesn’t have that player this season. But they have some tough nosed gritty players that want to play physical football.
This isn’t the only formation they’ll use, but it’s been there most effective going back to 2022.

When Brad Allen was there; they ran some double wing. Just wondering if it was the DW.
