Interested to see penalty yardage for this one for both teams but especially the bears. Bears went into the boro and won decisively, but they might have had double digit penalties. Middlesboros only scoring drive was due to 35 yards in penalties. Well over 100 yards for sure, most warranted, some not. Clean it up and harlan county continues to impress. The line made a huge jump i think, and if they continue to work and improve they can win a few more games.
Interesting call there on the goaline with 7 seconds left to score, clock can run out and you win but yet you run to the line to get another play to score again. Interesting way to start your head coaching tenure in my opinion. I’m one to say score as you will and don’t hold back, and it’s the other teams job to stop you, but SPRINTING to the line to get a play in is a little much when the clock is running out up two scores.

I miss the glory days when Middlesboro was a powerhouse. In '76, they and Corbin were two of the best teams in Kentucky. Had some really good teams in the '80's, too. Sad that they've fallen so far.

Interesting game. Harlan Co had starters in running their offense up 2 scores trying to run up score as clock was winding down in 4th. Lots of flags - several MHS chunk plays negated.

I remember the 81 game - seemed like everyone in the state was planning to go. I think both were top five teams.
To be fair though, Middlesboro has been a lot better lately after a few rough years. They were in the state semifinals three years ago in 2A and won nine games last year and made it to the regional finals.

Maybe the first time I agree with HCS. Middlesboro is a small school and if they don't lose their best athletes to bigger schools they can be a force in Class A from now on.

They have been better of late, that's true. I root for them.

I know this comes across as trying to be disagreeable, but I don't know about being a force for a few years. I think losing Grigsby was a huge blow, and he was the big reason why Middlesboro was good the past few years, along with coach French. I expect Wburg to win the district this year, but Middlesboro has the best chance to beat them even as a much younger team this year than last.
