Final from the Briar Patch. No inadvertent whistles in the one. This one was over by halftime.PCC had 2 big kickoff returns in the first half, one for a touchdown. Other than that, they couldn't get anything going against Somerset. The Briar Jumpers pushed the Commodores around up front on both sides of the ball. Josh Bruner threw the ball very well tonight. He had 3 or 4 passing touchdowns, and I think 3 different receivers caught touchdowns.
There wasn't any one player for PCC going to make this a close game

Bruner threw the ball really good tonight he hit little quick slants all night. If he continues to hit those passes and his receivers catch like they did tonight Somerset is gonna have a good season. The Hughes boy showed a lot of versatility tonight he lined up at WR in the slot RB and QB. He also blocked a punt and returned it 90 yds for TD I think he had 3 TD’S tonight . Bruner did an excellent job managing the game tonight. Somerset also got good production from their other two backs , Gulock and Browning. Also had some good positive yards from freshman Jett Boyd withe a nice kick off return and a nice run. Somerset OL is young and will steadily improve every game. Their Defense is stought and will be this teams strong suit.

I think the blocked kick was a 33 yard field goal attempt, instead of a punt. It ended up being about a 70 yard return. Thankfully we didn't have last year's officiating crew to blow it dead.

Note to perry, if you are going to call an inadvertent whistle to determine the game don’t schedule the same team next year on the road.

With the angle of the sun, and the tent that the team had set up on the sideline during the first half, it was hard to see that end of the field from where we were sitting. I didn't realize that Somerset had declined the penalty on third down. So the ball was actually snapped from the 10 instead of the 16 on the field goal. It would have been closer to an 85-90 yard return. I'm glad they took the tent down in the 2nd half.(08-24-2024, 12:58 AM)Walt Longmire Wrote:I meant to say a blocked field goal just out of habit I bring my radio to the game and listen to 106.1 fm at the time they said 90 yard return but tou are probably right he picked it up maybe inside the 30 somewhere(08-24-2024, 12:47 AM)Buford T Justice Wrote: Bruner threw the ball really good tonight he hit little quick slants all night. Again. Hate to say I told you so , but our passing game is non existent without the big target, our QB is fine he just don’t have that big target to throw the ball too and it hurts us. One player does make a huge difference. Also those dang referees cheated on that first drive, took away a TD and changed the whole game, if not for those ole referees would have won lol lol

One player does not make a 41 point difference. If they were that big of a difference maker, Leslie County would not have lost to Prestonsburg. Somerset never had to punt last night. Except for a couple of kickoff coverage issues, PCC wasn't even competitive.

It might have prevented a running clock, that's about it. Like I said Somerset never had to punt, they were scoring 40+ anyway. PCC also wasn't able to run the ball, or give their quarterback enough time to throw. If that player was that big of a difference maker, then Leslie County would have been able to overcome a Prestonsburg team coming off of a 5-6 season that Somerset would put a running clock on in the 3rd quarter.

Somerset outscored Leslie County 93-13 in two meetings last season. If one player makes that big of a difference, I'm guessing the Eagles will be able to win that game this season, right?

Add him to this year's team, and PCC still gives up 48 points. So let's say that even though he contributed zero touchdowns, that he makes Perry Central just as good passing as last year. How many scores do you think a decoy is worth. Even if their offense does just as well as last season, that would have them losing 48-22. Please, at this point you're just embarrassing yourself.
We'll see how big of a difference one receiver makes when Leslie County makes the trip over to Somerset. I believe that you are on record as saying that a transfer makes them good enough to finish 2nd, and maybe win the district. Let's see.

I don't think anyone will disagree that I've been the longest-running/most consistent Perry Central supporter on this site.
From back when I was young and trading barbs with Knott Central or Harlan County fans, or through the last several years where I've been more reserved but still like to provide context/perspective, engage in a little discussion or just keep up with what people are saying.
I'll just let y'all know that as long as Jet fighter is hijacking every single thread and derailing any conversation to push his agenda, I won't be back. It's sad because I remember when this place was a great place for Perry's fans (and opponents) to talk sports.
Thanks to Somerset for the hospitality yesterday. It was my first time experiencing a game there outside of a production truck. Really gained a lot of admiration for the program and culture seeing all the supporters out in front of the school before the game. Good luck this season.

One player does make a huge difference. Also those dang referees cheated on that first drive, took away a TD and changed the whole game, if not for those ole referees would have won lol lol actually if you want to get technical about it the TD that got negated would have never happened anyway if they hadn’t called a roughing the passer on Somerset where the QB never even fell down gave perry the ball in position to score. Somerset held them and took over on downs. As far as the passing games go I don’t care if perry had Jerry Rice if you can’t get him the ball he is a non factor. Perry has some work to do in the QB department and the passing game. They would be much more effective if they stuck mostly with the run they have a huge line and that number 40 is a load to take down.
fine shortly

I'll just let y'all know that as long as Jet fighter is hijacking every single thread and derailing any conversation to push his agenda, I won't be back. It's sad because I remember when this place was a great place for Perry's fans (and opponents) to talk sports.
Thanks to Somerset for the hospitality yesterday. It was my first time experiencing a game there outside of a production truck. Really gained a lot of admiration for the program and culture seeing all the supporters out in front of the school before the game. Good luck this season.

I'll be honest in saying that JetFighter is almost enough to make me not want to get on here either. Because honestly, I don't want to bash his kid - I don't want to bash any kid ... and truth be known, I kinda feel sorry for the kid for the simple fact that he would probably be mortified if he knew the nonsense that goes on in these forums. Whatever credibility he has - JetFighter is taking away from him. Plain and simple. I couldn't pick him out of a lineup, and I'm sure he's a talented player, but his teammates and fans probably have resentment toward him because his dad (or whoever JetFighter is to him) doesn't know when to stop. My best advise to JetFighter is (since this player is at a new school with a fresh start) stop trying to convince everyone that ONE PLAYER makes a TEAM. That's not even reality - and no matter where the kid goes to school, if his family is drilling this mentality into his head he will never reach his full potential.
Also - glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to the Briar Patch. It was a fun night.

Sure you’re trying to turn this to a plug for Noah and he did have a solid season but Perry’s rushing stats topped their receiving stats also. More total yardage, more yardage per game, more TD’s scored all of that was on the rushing side of the ball. Kizer was 2nd on the team in rushing yardage behind Seth Jackson who was somewhere close to 1300 yards. Sure losing Noah hurt Perry some but there was a hell of a lot more people on that team last year than just him.(08-24-2024, 05:16 PM)Gunslinger33 Wrote:That’s your opinion and I respect that But a QB is only as good as his recievers(08-24-2024, 05:08 PM)Jet fighter Wrote:No comparison in QB.
