Congrats to the Indians.  Maybe they have cleansed themselves from the teeth and tan era.

Will Coaxh Peck and JC be able to stay in the wishbone and have the success of the Matney years????

Peck on the hot seat? Have to think they will be the underdog against Pikeville, Belfry, Corbin, and Ashland. Will a 5-5 regular season cut it for the Golden Eagle faithful?

The water cooled seat won't help the bird mentally or physically after this season. Expect a complete meltdown.

Looks like the wishbone had success. It was the other sets that didn’t make a lot of sense. The double tight end sets looked rough. McCourt looked a step slow. Number 22 and 28 had some speed. Defensively the d line played well. Linebacker play was confusing for JC. They just kept sucking them up into the pile. JC got burned on the option. Didn’t look like they prepared for it. MC had too much speed for JC and had alot of success getting around the ends.

Surprised by this score.
With Corbin torching Pikeville… where does this put JC in the 4A ranking??
#14
Congrats to Madison Central

I watched Madison Central scrimmage and thought they looked like a mess. This score is very surprising. So much for basing opinions on scrimmages.

Scrimmages and media rankings aren't worth a plugged nickel!!!
Leslie County proved it last night!!

JC isn’t the JC of the past.

Thats what happens when there is a downturn in the talent, you saw it at the middle school level and those players are now in High School.  JC will be fine.

JC will be fine QB was most likely a wreck and 2 RB coming back from knee injury was probably nerves get them worked out and fine that JC line toughness need to work more on passing game they going to need it don’t be surprised if there not in Lexington at the end of the year

Johnson Central will be okay…….I think

No down turn in talent. Jc has some of the best athletes they have had on the field. No way anyone can say they don’t have talent. They were slow and out of shape.

Thought JC’s defense looked solid besides on the QB options as there was confusion. Had a few big stops and 2 huge interceptions during the game.

Offensively, I think JC can make the fix but the same plays over and over aren’t gonna work as you go into battling against teams like Pikeville, Corbin, Ashland and Belfry. Would like to see them spread out a little more and maybe even drop back in shotgun like they have in the past. Keeps defenses guessing and able to mix up the offense more.

I thought the opposite. On defense the linebackers got sucked inside all night. No pressure from the d line. No one knew how to cover the option and the d backs couldn’t keep up.
Offensively number 22 didn’t get many touches but looked fast. 28 looked good but kept taking himself out of the game. Number 2 looked off but he was injured last year so he might play himself back in shape. The offensive line looked good.

Congrats to Mad Central.

If JC changes anything they will lose their district. They need to keep doing what they’re doing and they’ll get better. They won’t ever have the speed to beat Boyle/Corbin doing the same thing as them.

Learn to read, I didnt say they didnt have talent, I said downturn in the talent.  Every program has down talent years.

Don’t get rude. I read what you said. What I’m saying is this is not a down turn in talent. This is a peak in recent years. McCourt, Davis, Slone, Music are as athletic and more talented than what they have had in a while. Peck and Adkins are big and extremely athletic lineman. Line is as big as ever. This is an extremely talented group. This group of juniors played in the middle school state championship.

Hmmmm. JC will take a hit IMO.

There may have been a slight downturn in talent but to me two other things stick out. 1) they’ve been hit by injuries big time the last 3 years, 2) the passing game has become non-existent. JC was completely healthy against Madison Central so that’s not an excuse.

However, the passing game continues to struggle. Under Matney the running game put up huge numbers but the passing game was a threat. Matney always had something under his sleeve to get a TE open or a deep shot to keep defenses honest. Defenses are not having to respect the passing game and it’s making it easier to defend the run.
