Patriot looked like to me the penalty on the drive early and the pick 6 was the story for the first half for Pikeville. Corbin's defense gave some runs up but they looked to hold for the most part. Corbin's offense has a lot of new faces taking up the starting lineup and I thought they did a great job. Lots of missed opportunities on both sides of the ball. I thought at times Pikeville's defense looked really good. Corbin's defense at times looked really good. Was alot of fixable and no doubt mistakes made by young players on Corbin's side of things. But I thought they came out and won a nice first game at Home. The big passing play for Pikeville was wide open. Nice play. The Corbin defense no doubt left some long passes up for grabs and might have been touchdowns by Pikeville if they would have connected but thats football. Coulda woulda shoulda. I think when you have the caliber of these two teams playing a early game, you will see plenty of mistakes because of the pressure of the big time atmosphere right out of the gate. Overall, I think both teams played good considering the opponent.

Absolute snoozefest. Game's outcome never in doubt from the very beginning. The difference in the atmosphere of this one vs the Fred Douglass game last season was night and day. Empty seats galore from the third quarter on. I dozed off at one point early in the fourth quarter. Woke up, and the guy next to me was snoring. The playcalling, especially when Corbin got in scoring range, left a lot to be desired. Should have been 36-7 with better play calls and one less holding penalty. High snaps all night for Corbin, just like in the scrimmage game.
Corbin was stale; Pikeville was worse than stale. The Pikeville coach is about as bold as a bowl of plain oatmeal in his decisions. If you took the very best players from both of these teams and put them together to form the Corville All-Stars , they wouldn't come within 8 TDs of Boyle. Maybe even 10 or 12 TDs.
The worst part of the night wasn't even the bad football. It was Tommy Greer being recognized and given the "honor" of flipping the coin at game's beginning. Corbin, and its Redhound Varsity Club, is absolutely the most tone deaf group of people ever to breathe oxygen. JUST TERRIBLE!!! Almost enough to make me give up my Redhound fandom .
Any other questions?

I thought both teams looked prettY lost. Looking to find an identity on offense. Injury bug bite Corbin with Cima going down. He had that drop but a clear weapon that is hard to cover. Also killed the kicking game. Defense was fine for Corbin and honestly Pikeville considering 4A vs 1A. I still think Pikeville will smash mouth 1A teams and the QB to #1 combo looked sharp. Corbin will be OK just not on the level with Boyle and others. I liked the Pearson kid at back for Corbin. He actually had some size. Fact is this team is gonna go as far as Elam takes them. The crowd was good but the atmosphere was pretty terrible I though, lots of yawns and boring.

Absolutely awful, but I think the awful play didn't help any. Sorry, BGR, but I have to give you the unvarnished truth, without needless platitudes. If you want less honesty, look elsewhere. These teams were bad.

Something tells me that “The Stroke” by Billy Squire during warmups really set the tone for the night. 11 million dollar field but felt like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. Old School is right, and spot on with his honesty.

It takes a special kind of person to be bitter and miserable even after a win lol...
Congrats to the Redhounds on the win. Pikeville not ready for prime time but Thanksgiving is way down the road. When your first 3 possessions end with 2 holding calls and a Pick 6 you probably aren't going to beat an excellent team. Pikeville has a ton of work to do. There are probably a couple more losses in the cards but the goal remains the same.
Again, congrats to Corbin. Fun and talented team and I'm a fan the rest of the year.

I think OSH is a little harsh. I know he is wanting that title and can’t blame him. Corbin has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. Elam makes great decisions on his throws and picks his spots when to run. They are going to be a factor but I agree, they aren’t coming close to Boyle with tonight’s overall effort. But I expect them to clean a lot up and be better as the season goes along. My concern for them is they had some problems at times with Pikeville’s run game despite having getting good push up front and stacking the box. Pikeville has a great back but still in 4A, that could cause the Hounds problems later. I also heard a lot about this offense and how they’d walk over Pikeville’s defense and Corbin managed 2 offensive scores. Their defense had the other score.
I thought Pikeville was very predictable with play calling and didn’t open up the offense until they got down and they found out they can run with Corbin in the secondary. Corbin was mostly in zone at that point but Panther receivers found openings. The quick strike for a TD and not long after another missed open receiver with 4 minutes left that probably walks in for a TD would have probably made things a little uncomfortable for Coach Salmons in his first game. 2 turnovers by Pikeville the big difference and they kept stalling on good drives with drops, penalties, or the turnovers. I thought Corbin was the better team overall but it’s closer than I thought. I expect both to look better in week 2.

Looks like Pikeville's scrimmages didn't help them any. Floyd Central Martin and Breathitt all got demolished. I was glad to see Hazard and Paintsville get wins.

Corbin definitely a big jump compared to those teams. I am as well glad to see Hazard get a win. I didn’t expect the 51 points.

Hopefully they improve as the season wears on. Pikeville should win another title, seeing that mighty Raceland is their competition. They wouldn't sniff a title in any other class. Corbin is still sniffing Tom Greer's losing ass.

Can any Redhound fan explain to me why those in charge brought a man out to midfield to toss the coin who quit his team on May 6, telling no one ahead of time, and leaving the kids without a coach until June? Could Corbin be any more stupid???
From the third quarter on I couldn't tell Campbell Field from a morgue. People sleeping, talking about everything except the game. Nothing at all like Frederick Douglass game last season. Disappointing.

Just wanted to say that the kids on both sides put forth good effort and energy but the execution just wasn't there for either side. It will be fun following the teams throughout the season to see how much they improve . They can only get better. Burn the game tape on this one and move on.

Turning point of game was Pikeville holding them on 4th and 1at mid field then #12 got that int in the Endzone.
Pikeville was fighting back but that int sucked the air out of them. Qb threw into double coverage on a double move. Game was over at that point.
